Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
Tony Almeida replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I was half intending to see what I could pick up from the Myer sale during the 2 days the Myer One discount was applicable, until I found out that the 10% is taken off AFTER the 20% discount, meaning it didn't quite add up to 30% off like I initially believed . -

Anybody see a Galactic Enforcer at the Myers that they visited, and if so, how much were they? -

Wow, what do you need with 3 Emerald Nights? If you just intend to resell them for a profit, it really just sounds a little intolerant of anyone also after one. -

If you don't me asking, what were the individual prices on each of those? -

Well it's rather unfortunate that they're selling a set at full RRP during a toy sale, but I won't be picking any of the SW sets. I'm still hoping to snatch up a ridiculous discount during either of the toy sales. (hopefully the Galactic Enforcer ) -

True, but I don't fool myself into thinking that I'll be able to get every set I'm after. Also, many department stores tend to have sales/clearances on Lego fairly regularly, so waiting until an item is about to be discontinued might mean being able to get it at its cheapest. At the moment, the Star Wars sets seem to be among the most popular though I've only ever owned one SW set - from 1999! There have just been so many SW sets released over the years that I simply can't be arsed ever deciding on what to get, not to mention they are considerably more expensive than regular sets. So its fortunate that one of the most highly sought ever themes has never really been to my fancy.

So at the moment, we have a number of upcoming toy sales: - Big W and K-Mart have theirs on July 1 - Myer have theirs this Thursday, offering 20% on toys (+10% for Myer One members) - Target seem to be having one on July 22 I'm hoping that Big W and K-Mart offer clearance level prices, I'm really hoping to get a cheap Galactic Enforcer -
As an Australian customer, I find the best way to deal with the price discrepancies is to simply never pay full price. The last 3 sets that I bought all had a 25% discount, which funnily enough brought them around to the same prices that American customers would pay (with the current exchange rate taken in account).

Space Police Command Centre for $49.95? Seriously? On that note, has anybody seen a Galactic Enforcer for cheap around Melbourne? -
With the current exchange rates, there's no way $99.99USD translates into $159.99AUD. (same goes for all other Lego products). Seriously, the people who do regional pricing here must be brain dead or something, why the hell do we have to keep putting up with it.

I ended up getting the Raid VPR for $12 at Target, figured that the sale price would end anyway

Don't really get why you chose the fake names, but nice work. -
I'm definitely seeing some very interesting concepts in the game - I especially like the idea of being able to build stuff and the currency being in bricks. However, MMO's aren't my cup of tea, and neither is paying subscription costs. In addition to that, Lego obviously has to cater/pander to the majority who will be playing this game (little kiddies) - I think I'm happy to only have to put up with that when I buy their regular products! In the meantime, I will return to enjoying Team Fortress 2 and Bad Company 2. I enjoy my ultraviolence.

Definitely more Space Police! I'm not too fond of the majority of the sets out at the moment, personally I'd like more space police vehicles akin to the ones in 5973 and 5981.

Hmm, so could that be a way to get sets for cheaper? I'm just wondering how making a request to buy pieces would work, because there's no payment section or checkout when you use the replacement parts service. Or would it just be like using Pick-a-brick? Also, I noticed some inconsistencies with the availability of particular parts - a current production set (e.g 5981 Raid VPR) does not seem to have the police minifig torso piece available, yet when I looked up 7770 (Deep Sea Treasure Hunter), which was available back in 2007, every piece is available, including all minifig components and even a printed component.

Nice - very fresh and futuristic colour scheme. The designs are simple yet very slick.

I'm supposed to be receiving a replacement sticker sheet for 5973 within the next 2 weeks or so, apparently the kind person who dealt with me decided to make an exception by sending to me as they don't offer the replacement parts service in AUS or NZ. A question - do they replace regular parts (bricks etc.) free of charge?

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 2 Poll
Tony Almeida replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I've never understood why people pay a premium price for these figures (that you don't even get to choose, assuming the process was random) when you could probably pick up an impulse set for the same price. -
Thanks for the suggestion hewman, I can see what you mean by the play features and the selection of minifigs is quite nice too, though the theme (and most licensed themes in general) doesn't quite appeal to me, but regardless seems to be a very good option. I was kind of thinking of something from Space Police, World Racers, or Power Miners - though what I usually gets tends to end up being a matter of what I can find. I'm in Melbourne, and was planning to pop into my local David Jones tomorrow to look for something good to pick up.

Any sets someone would recommend in the $40-$50AUD price range? (there are quite a few clearance sales around atm, so I'll probably be able to pick up a particular set at a cheaper price than usual)
