I have a feeling the Naboo Starfighter will be a bigger, meatier version of the 2007 version, kind of like how they re-did General Grievous's Starfighter and the Sith Infiltrator only a few years after their previous versions by making them a little larger. It looks like it could be just a little bit bigger to fit the proper minifig scale. The larger piece count allows them to charge more too, of course. Expect this thing to be at least $50 USD if it includes a hanger/part of a hanger as rumored. And I've always gotten the feeling that Lego wanted to have R2-D2 face forward (like he is supposed to) in the last version but were juuust limited by the scale. The slightly increased scale, along with either some creative engineering or new moulds, will allow an astromech to face forward in the N-1. I also think they'll ditch the spring loaded missile launcher in favor of flick-fires, and they'll probably give it landing gear. Now, will that make this set worth buying for those who already have an N-1? Who knows. The last N-1 was pretty dang good in my opinion. The only thing I didn't like was the spring loaded missile on the bottom, that was pretty ridiculous. This one better blow me away or else I likely won't buy it based on the lack of anything substantially new added.

Cool legs, nice shape. Great MOC!

Awesome! Dune is criminally underrepresented in Lego. Nice to see a new MOC. Lovely use of the Tauntaun horn!

I'd recommend going the Technic route. There's a reason why nowadays LEGO primarily uses Technic structures for large and complex structures that need significant support. Technic provides a sturdy frame that isn't likely to fall apart easily.

WOW! I'm in love. I LOVE Starfox and I've been waiting for someone to come up with a fantastic Great Fox MOC. You sir have done it! I am thoroughly impressed.

I think they could've kept SPIII if they really wanted to - there are infinite possibilities with the non-uniform Aliens - but I think Lego is ready to take a break from Space Police and do something different. I think we'll see a break from a true Space theme for at least one "wave". We'll be getting a new Launch Command/Space Port theme at least, which I'm greatly looking forward to. As for the future of space, I'd like to see either 1. A Blacktron III vs. Good guy theme (with the good guys being reminiscent of classic space), 2. A civilian theme like Futuron or M-Tron with futuristic buildings and maybe a track system (what you guys are basically suggesting as a "Space City" theme), or 3. Both, like how they did it in the early 90's with good guys + civvies + bad guys. (highly unlikely that would happen all at once) Personally, I'd be up for a new Blacktron or a civilian space theme. Either would be pretty great.

Hmm. Sounds like nothing terribly interesting is in this first wave other than the Mando battle pack which is bound to have some awesome minifigs. But I'll reserve judgment until we see pics. I've had lukewarm reactions to the initial news of waves before, only to get excited after seeing the impressive features/building techniques/minifigures of a set. Lego always surprises me The V-Wing I expect to be straightforward. It'll simply be a beefed up version of the one we got in '05, IMO. Flick-fire guns, maybe some hidden missiles or something, etc. The Clone Trooper BP should have some new helmet molds and torso prints, but nothing mind-blowing. Naboo sounds OK, it might be a decent "larger-than-battle pack" army-builder set akin to the Echo Base set we got in '09. Nice way to stock up on Gungans and battle droids. We might get a new Jedi in the T6 shuttle, or we might not. I have a feeling that we will get one because of the fact that it's an expensive yet lesser known ship (like how we got Mace in the Attack Shuttle). Ki Adi Mundi, please I'm crossing my fingers that we might finally get another new Clone Commander, too But the real wildcard in this wave is the Bounty Hunter ship. I think that set could turn out to be amazing or horrible depending on the minifig selection and the design. Hopefully it'll turn out great

I love this set! I ordered it through S@H and received it a few weeks ago. I got the free spaceman magnet with it of course, which is really cool as well. The shuttle is likely the most accurate official Lego shuttle that we've ever seen (I don't own the Discovery shuttle, but that looks to be the only one that's even close). This shuttle also includes the External Tank and Solid Rocket Boosters, which is really great as they are often overlooked. I was initially against the blocky look of the tail fin and the nose, but after I built it I realized it perfectly captured the tiled surface of the space shuttle I wouldn't have it any other way. The only real gripe I have with the design is that the rear "wheel wells" leave holes in the wings when the landing gear is down and make the wheels visible from the top of the shuttle when the landing gear is retracted. It should be fairly easy to cover this hole through modding, though. I grew up with Space Port (I own every set, even the promotional ones) and it was a total trip to build this set. It was my first brand-new non-licensed Lego set in about 8 or 9 years, which shows how I HAD to have this set. I also agree with the other posters, it fits in perfectly with themes such as Launch Command and Space Port. I can't wait to take out my old Space Port sets and see my whole collection laid out Overall, this set gets a 9.5/10 from me, and it's highly recommended!

So if I were to ask a TRU employee to grab me some of the new sets from the back room even though they're not supposed to be on shelves yet in the US, do you guys think they would give them to me? I'm inclined to think they would, but I don't want to have to drive all the way to TRU just to hear no.
-
You're not the only one. I live in the East Bay of the SF Bay Area in California, and as of Monday my local TRU, Target, and all other stores still hadn't received the new SW wave yet. I'll be checking again tomorrow I suppose.
-
Hey, I'm in the same boat, the new SW sets have yet to show up at my TRU as well. But back on topic, there have been plenty of Star Wars playsets over the last few years, including Home One and the Endor bunker last year. You could even almost consider the Venator Cruiser and the Tantive IV as playsets since they're so large and hard to swoosh around, and they have at least one relatively large interior room. They are clearly meant to be played with on the ground and not in your hands, which in my mind makes them playsets. There's also the fact that vehicles sell better than playsets, and Lego Star Wars is the epitome of that. LSW is nearly all vehicles, and they happen to sell the best as well. The only major difference between traditional playsets and the recent ones is that the recent ones lack baseplates. But I think Lego as a whole is moving away from sets with large unique baseplates, probably because baseplates are expensive to make (especially when printed), take up more box space, and in some ways could be considered <insert that tiresome argument> compared to building your own base and adding your own details. I'm not personally against large and unique baseplates, but I'm just saying these could be some reasons why we seem to be seeing less of them nowadays.

I love that new Han face! It looks just like a stubble-less Indiana Jones now. I'd love to see a comparison pic or even a switcheroo of the Han/Indy heads.
-
Well, they came about 2 weeks later than when they arrived last year, but at least they're here! I'll try to get down to TRU tomorrow or Tuesday and see if they have them!

Lego learned their lesson with LULs, nearly everybody hated them. They won't be going back to those... ever.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Apollo VI replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Oh lordy indeed. I have checked everywhere - TRU, Target, Borders - and I haven't found even a scrap of evidence that the collectable minifigs have hit any of those stores. The Lego asile didn't have them, the areas near checkout didn't have them, and the collectables/cards asile didn't even have them. The employees I talked to were oblivious of them, of course. So the way I see it, they either haven't hit my region or there's some insane AFOL collectors in my area that vaccum up the boxes as soon as they go on the shelves As for the news that the first series has apparently stopped production, well, that is insane. Guess I won't be buying these. It's probably for the best, I really shouldn't be spending as much on Lego as I do already -
I do hope that the rumored Cloud City set includes a landing pad like the last version. Adding a landing pad significantly increases the surface area of sets and gives your ships a real place to land, rather than the adjacent carpet or whatever surface you're playing on The landing pad is especially important for a set like Cloud City, where ships like the Cloud Car, the MF, and the Slave I are actually there, landed. The landing pad is often overlooked but it plays a significant role in ESB. Including a Cloud Car within this theoretical set isn't too far-fetched either, since we haven't gotten a Cloud Car in a long time and I believe that it could be re-designed to today's sleeker ship standards. The last version was just 117 pieces, which would still be a small part of a set that will probably end up being 900 to 1500+ pieces. We could see a similar arrangement to what we saw in the Mon Calamari Star Cruiser set, where one segment is a ship and landing pad and the other segment is the room where most of our minifigs reside. Only for Cloud City, I hope it's even bigger than the MC Cruiser
-
I'm just thinking out loud right now: If we are to get one more exclusive set later this year (which makes sense because they did the same thing last year with the Tantive IV), it'll likely be an ESB set since that's the celebration this year. And most logical signs point to it being Cloud City, especially since a Cloud City remake has been rumored since last year. It probably won't be a Hoth set because we've gotten 5 Hoth-related sets in the last 3 waves alone (Echo Base, 2 BPs, Wampa Cave, and the new AT-AT). Dagobah, well there's not much to make there Lego-wise, plus we still have an X-Wing out on shelves. Asteroid chase? Nah. That leaves one location: Bespin. Cloud City will go very well with the new Slave I which happened to come out this summer. They can make use of the new Boba, Han, and Carbonite Han designs. We're also very, very overdue for a fleshie Bespin Luke and Leia, and Bespin Lando is incredibly rare. I'd expect a set like that to feature Vader, Luke, Leia, Han, Carbonite Han, Lando, Chewie, C3PO, R2D2, Boba, and maybe Lobot and/or some Stormtroopers. We could only hope for some Ugnaughts
-
If I recall correctly, last year the summer sets started showing up in the US in late June/early July - first at TRU and then at other stores. I don't know if that will hold true this year, but it's a good place to guess when they will show up this year. I'm eagerly checking TRU every week or so!

Wow! I love the detail on those buildings! Fantastic!

Must... get... spaceman minifigs... so cool! -
Beautiful! I'd love to see a cargo container attached to it.

Hey everyone! I'm not new to Eurobricks, I've actually lurked around the forums for over a year and a half. I really enjoy this site for the MOCs and the breaking news on the new sets. This is a wonderful community! I'm from California, USA. I was a HUGE Lego fan when I was a kid, but I went into a "dark age" around 2001. I spontaneously emerged from my dark age around mid-2008 and I've gone absolutely crazy since then. I've easily tripled my existing Lego collection! I'm not much of a MOCer, I'm more of a modder. I really enjoy improving existing Lego sets, and taking MOC instructions online and building them for myself because I enjoy them so much! I look forward to sharing some of my mods in the future. My favorite themes are Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Life on Mars, UFO, Space Port, Aquasharks, and Aquaraiders. Other than Star Wars, I have every set from each of these themes (thank you Bricklink! ) I'm also fond of the original Mindstorms, Toy Story, Batman, Aquanauts, Pirates, Adventurers, and Blacktron II. So, I don't know if I'll post much in the future, but I do intend on making a solid contribution to this forum when I do post. And again, I'll post some of my neat mods when I get the chance, probably after my finals are over in a few weeks. See you later!
