Wow, I'm totally amazed. I couldn't have done that when I was ten (well, actually I probably still couldn't do it without some planning and trying around first...) Hm, you'll have to find ways to avoid his dark ages ;)

First sneek peak at LDD 4.0
Odyssey replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
For me this is the big unknown in a way - the railjet I'm working on hasn't been finished yet and if I can't open (and order) the parts anymore in LDD 4, this'd be a huge disappointment... Does anyone have any information on that matter? -
I agree that the front could need some more work, especially to reflect the rounded design and the front light placement on the original. Other than that, it's quite nice, expecially the inside details :)

Great, this just fits really well with classic town designs I think :)

That's a quite nice idea with the university campus. I've been thinking about doing a CC-Style University building with a lecture hall, library and office room plus maybe a small park. I think if you want to realize all the things you are thinking about it'll take quite some time and become a pretty big project. That doesn't mean you should do it, but you should have a realistic time frame for it. What you should probably do is come up with a rough plan of how you want the buildings to look, how many buildings you want to have and how you'll arrange them on your campus. That said, I also think you shouldn't necessarily use sets to get your bricks but rather plan each building first and then purchase your bricks through Pick a Brick or Bricklink. And personally, I'd probably start with either the cafeteria or a building with classrooms as those are smaller parts of the project and quite essential for a uni ;-). If you've got one or two buildings finished that gives you a better idea of how the rest should look and it gives you a sense of achievement and should help you start with the larger buildings...

Hi Fuzzylegobricks and welcome to the forum :) It looks like you just copied the file path of the file on your computer to the forum. That way, we can't see the images as we can't access your computer ;-) You'll need to upload them first (for example to Flickr or Brickshelf) and then link them here.

MOD: Railjet highspeed train: My first train MOC project (still WIP)
Odyssey replied to Odyssey's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Concerning the colour (brown vs. dark red), I settled for brown for now because I could order that through LDD which is a lot more practical for me... And I have to say I'm quite happy with how the colours turned out at the moment (also because there are quite big variations in the colours of the original...). -
MOD: Railjet highspeed train: My first train MOC project (still WIP)
Odyssey replied to Odyssey's topic in LEGO Train Tech
MOD = My Own Design - ok, that makes sense. Somehow I was under the impression it stands for "Modification" :-) This is actually my first serious train project. It'll take at least until the end of the year to finish it (if I manage to finish it). I have a few ideas for other projects but am not yet sure what I might go for next... Actually, I ordered both the locomotive and the first carriage via Design by me. I ordered both individually though. For me, the main reason is in the limited space and time I have available for building so I prefer to get all bricks picked and packed for me. Thanks a lot for the nice comments! -
MOD: Railjet highspeed train: My first train MOC project (still WIP)
Odyssey replied to Odyssey's topic in LEGO Train Tech
So, finally I was able to order and build the first passenger carriage, the second class (or "economy class") carriage which runs behind the locomotive: (click on the photos for more on flickr) Oh and one question to the moderators: I'm a bit surprised that the title of the topic was changed to "MOD". In my opinion it's a MOC, not a MOD, because I designed it from scratch myself... (or am I misunderstanding something?) -
Wow, just in one word - Amazing! All the details - the old cinema look, the popcorn, the movie posters... Hm, do you happen to have an old mobile phone or so lying around somewhere? If you've got some space on the back of the building you could put that in there and have 'real', flickering movies showing there... That'd be awesome for shows and the likes... (I did a similar thing once for a - never finished - train station announcement board).

First of all, I really like the idea here - I don't think I've seen a Lego night club before... The inside has a very stylish and new look to it with a cosy chill-out area on top :) I think this is also why I find that the 'boarded-up' look at the front windows (I guess it's not intended to look like that?) doesn't look right, it doesn't fit to the stylish interior... I think you could even leave them as normal, open windows with drawers or so. There are some down town discos on the ground floor in the place where I live (not many people living down town anyway, it's all offices).
-
Wow, this is really in a league of it's own! I think there aren't many who could do the same (I for my part surely couldn't)...
-
Well, I for one am travelling a lot and have several places where I live and just can't take my bricks with me. Which means, I use LDD a lot for designing MOCs and trying out different ideas and concepts. That way I can work on a model wherever I am, over a long time and only once I'm happy with the design I might proceed to actually build it in real bricks (or even order it over DBM). As a matter of fact, most of my LDD designs never turn up in real bricks, but at least I can brick virtually wherever I am :)

I've actually used 9v motors with these baseplates without problems (both a single motor and two of them on the same plate connected with a cable). Hm, when I first saw this, I found it looks strikingly similar to the Bombardier Talent. Those trainsets are used in Germany and Austria as regional or commuter trains (and the colour choice of the Lego set is similar to German regional trains) - which is also why to me it looks quite strange to see this set being referred to as a "high speed train"...

New bricks and removed bricks in LDD 4
Odyssey replied to Odyssey's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yes, I was talking about dbm mode as I'm ordering the carriages over that. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks a lot for your help on that matter! -
New bricks and removed bricks in LDD 4
Odyssey replied to Odyssey's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks for the super-quick answer and your help, Superkalle! Considering it's a train, I'm mainly worried about the 6x28 dark grey train baseplate and other train parts (buffers and the "bearing element"=normal train wheel sets). Also, I'm using some dark red parts and was under the impression some of them were removed in April so I'm wondering if they'll stay. -
I hope this hasn't been answered before anywhere but I didn't find it yet and I believe this might be interesting for others as well... I was wondering if there is already any information available which bricks are slated to be removed and which to be added in LDD 4.0. I'm asking because I'm working on a MOC project (my Railjet highspeed train) where I can't order all parts at once but am ordering them in several packages (specifically, one train car per order). Now as it'll take me a few more months to finish this project, I was wondering if there's any way to find out in advance what changes to the brick palette will be made to make sure my model will still be buyable after the update.
-
It might be simple and small but I really like the design. And the fact that you posted the building steps is just tempting me to build one myself in red for my still tiny collection of MOC cars...
-
It kind of reminds me of a car of the London Underground with the low roof. It looks a bit blocky though, you may want to try out those parts for the roof for example: or . Also, you may want to add an undercarriage and add some more details to the outside. Just take a look at online photos of a train/trains you have in mind and try to replicate some of the details you see.

Wow, this is amazing. That's one of the creations where you have to look twice to make sure it's actually made from Lego :)

Well, I daresay it's pretty much as I expected it to be, micro scale and without the towers at both ends of the bridge. But I'm still totally amazed at the design. I guess, making this a minifig scale building but would've been pretty impossible (just imagine all the details and greebling you'd have to add...). And considering the expected size (~1 meter?) I wouldn't yet rule out actually using it in minifig scale displays. It might probably be usable with just slight adjustments if it's placed well.

Wow, amazing detail and life you put into this! Really great MOC :)

Now, that's an awesome funny idea with the Belville Cyborgs - and some great MOCing you did here!
