Set info: Set#: 7631 Set name: Dump Truck Theme: City/Construction Pieces: 185 Minifigs: 1 Construction Worker Price: EUR 19.99 / ? GBP / 19.99 USD Year of release: 2009 Bricklink Catalog Brickshelf Folder Adding the the growing subtheme of construction this Dump Truck will surely hit many dirt roads in kids' rooms around the globe. It's yellow and carry boulders - what's not to like about it? Box Front A nice picture with a good background, binding the dirty construction work to the town. "Yeehaaa! Let's fetch'em boulders for the construction site mateee!" "Yehaaaaaaa! That's a 10-4" "Yehaaa! Over & Out" "Yehaa" Back of the Box Some nice pictures showing the Dump Truck from different angles and the unloading of boulders. Also depicts the 2 polybags within the box and how they are divided into two build sessions. Box side More neat box art for us to enjoy. The polybags and instruction 2 Numbered polybags, single booklet instruction and a small stickersheet. Instructions For once it's fairly easy to distinguish between light-grey, dark-grey and black. Easy to follow and the subdivision of the build into two bags really eases the build. And bearing in mind that this is a set aged 5-12, then it's very suitable. One could mix all the bricks to make the build a little more challenging. The end pages has some interesting pictures/playscenes from the subthemes; construction & farm. Inventory pages (Better resolution pictures can be found in the brickshelf folder when public) Same ol' same ol' AC-Nielsen Sticker Sheet 7631 numberings for the Dump Truck (I did not use those) Red/white stripes for the fence. Constructionwork ahead!-sign. - Gotta love that minifig and his shovel The build - Bag One A smooth ride describes transforming Bag One's parts into: a roadsign, 2 boulders, the driver, the fence, 2 orange warning lamps and the wheelless Dump Truck chassis and cabin. Guided by the easy step by step instruction, this is a build quickly done. The Dump Truck has plenty of greeble and the design is near perfect in the transaction from "real life" to "minifig size". I may be wrong, but this is just my humble opinion Personal favourites are: 1: The engine front, grill and exhaust. 2: The side-view mirrors. 3: The roof not being the hinged type. This is a very neat way to do the roofing, I am getting tired of those hinged roofs and this is a good solution. Doors would have been better, but this'll do just fine. The build - Bag Two Again a smooth build. The chassis is finished and the tipper function and top is added. The sides are nealty designed ands the overall look is very smooth Is this a new wheel? I don't recall seeing it before? The Truckdriver A classic by now. One thing that puzzles me is where to keep his black shovel when driving? The Dump Truck The Dump Truck in all it's glory. Talk about playability The verdict: 8/10 Price - a good set for the money. 8/10 Parts - a wide selection of useable yellow. 6 wheels, boulders, plates and so on. 9/10 Design - "Smoooth 10-4" 10/10 Playability - It tips, it turns, it rocks 10/10 Coherence - Perfect. This will melt right in along the rest of the construction sub-theme sets. 45/50 All in all - A Classic Town Vehicle is born.

I've added the guessed EUR prices by Klaus-Dieter. Now we need some smart US and UK guy/gal to reason their prices.

Thanks for the review Dunamis. As usual you're in depth I've added a poll and added the review to the index as "Review2" on 8019 RAS
-
4 or 5 by the looks of it.
-
By all means do so. A 2nd and 3rd review are always more than welcome. Also reviewing the other new CW sets would be awesome.
-
What a great idea. I'll do that.

Let it go now. The list of everything we know so far is in the first post. Now let's get back to discussing the rumored sets. Come January, I'll update the first post and remove the released sets. Then we can get down to some serious speculation and discussion on the 2009 Summer and Autumn sets

Which is one of the brown colours featured. Dark Reddish Brown and Reddish Brown. Let go of the dream. Old brown or grey will never ever return, so let's quit hoping and just enoy the awesomeness of the new brown colours

The new 2009 Star Wars sets are starting to show up in stores. Pictures are links! Dunamis gives us his view on the RAS: 8019 Republic Attack Shuttle ReZourceman brings us reviews of: 8014 Clone Walker Battle Pack 8019 Republic Attack Shuttle

Perfect. I'll add this to the index. Great job
-
Thanks for this. This is one of the classics of LEGO Star Wars. Not too pretty in my opinion, but still a great set. Compared to the re-release this was actually playable. I'll add this to the index.
-
Good for you, but this is the Star Wars forum and we really don't care about Dr Jones I'll be getting these for sure. Probanly even more than once. Now I can have a changing exhibition of Star Wars minifigs on my refrigerator. With a little adjustment I'll surely be able to fit the tauntaun or Jabba to one of those magnets.
-
Nope. Just the January wave of sets. Clone Battle Packs and so forth. Check the first post for the complete list.
-
Thanks for reviewing these sets for us. I'd like you to split the reviews and make a new topic for one of the sets. I'll happily chang the title of this topic to suit the review present in it. One review = one topic

Did you even read my above post? Get back on topic people.

Skip the Death Star and get plenty of regular Star Wars sets. The Death Star is awesome, but if comparing amount of figs and useable parts, the spreading of money on different sets would be best. I have the Death Star myself, but I am a dedicated Star Wars collector (only need the Junkyard, sculptures and some of the minifig collections to be complete) and that's what the DS is. - A collector's item, no more, no less. Go for quantity and diversity of parts would be my advice.
-
Not really LEGO News or General Discussion, is it? I'll move this to the Buy/Sell/Trade/Finds forum instead. Feel free to continue this there

5 or 6, can't remember right now.

Strange. A lot of regular stores have had the Fighter tank here. I actually got an extra 50% off... The supermarket had a "facelift" and to celebrate they had a 50% offer on all toys. Plus one fighter tank for me. - So it's not special here in Denmark - at least not to my knowledge. The Limited sets (Hoth, HSD, Twilight) are still available in large quantities in TRU and the sister toy-chain "BR". So no problems there either. Hoth and HSD are actually on sale right now. Not enough for anyone outside DK to want them though. Now where's that new wave of Star Wars sets?!
-
This thread/topic is for discussing the sets. There's another topic (Star Wars Sets Anyone?) for discussing where available and such things. So stop yagging about where to get the new sets here. This is only a topic for the sets, rumors and pictures. How hard can it be? Check the pinned topics in the Star Wars forum topic page. Read, think, think again and then maybe post.
-
Then I'd suggest that you reread the topic or just read the entire topic. The Chrome Vader came in a separate polybag as a promotional.
-
Yep. All there's left to do now is to wait. And I hate waiting...
-
Well, yes this warrants it's own thread as you've done more of a review than just news posting. It has been mentioned in the 2009 picture and rumor thread. The pic from S@H is actually in the first post. Thanks for the pic Shop@Home pictures:

As happy as you may be for this set, we do like our members to comment more than just "emoticons". In the top banner of the page there's a link going "Reminder on how to behave in here". I suggest you read that and improve your posts. Sometimes it's better to say nothing instead of posting spam/crap.

Probably they will. If there's to be a LEGO store there.
