ApophisV Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Galting's Stronghold Losely based on the mexican style architecture of the Desperados game this MOC depicts the entrance area of an Wild West fort. The name of the MOC comes from the Gatling Gun mounted above the entrance doors which was invented in the late 19th century. Besides this weapon the fort has also at least one cannon mounted on a gun carriage. Well I think in this case pics tell more than words, therefore some deeplinks: Link to the gallery: Brickshelf Comments ON! ;-) Quote
Norro Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I really like all the birds, especially the rooster! Then again the whole scene is very nice and well thought out. Great work! God Bless, Nathan Quote
snefroe Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 it seems you're in a building craze these days X-D *sweet* that's good, keep it up, a moc of this quality every two days is fine by me X-D two things though: i think it would be nice to have the stairs to the highest platform of the towers on the outside. i'm curious to see how that'll look i'd replace the two grey bars for the waterpipe by a rigid hose, even though i'm not sure if they come in light grey, and sure, this "angled" pipe looks kinda primitive, something you'd expect in an environment like this... |-/ Quote
iamded Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Wow, this is really great! I love the detail, the plants creeping up the wall, the water tank, the birds and the gattling gun! Very creative, excellent job! Quote
Asuka Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Very nice! I like that brown round and square 1x1 bricks coming out of the side walls and all those chickens and crows. The water tower and that neat bench Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Very nice Apo! I think the use of the tan bricks work very well for this kind of structure. The towers catch my eye as well as the water tower. I like how you did the pipe/hose running down to provide a faucet for the figs. I also like the gatling gun and fig as well. I never saw a grey barrel before. Is grey an actual color? I also like the flag(s) which work well. Overall, a very nice WW MOC. You should try a colorful background to top it off. It's really nice to see others building some WW MOCs. Great job! Quote
Sir Dillon Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Very nice work, Apo. Like Norro stated, this a very nicely thought out creation (or at least appears to be), I love all the details you put in it. The whole shape is neat, and I'm liking the segmented feel you've given it. The birds, figures, and all the boxes and equipment scattered around make the scene feel very real and alive. While I understand what Sne means about the tube, I really like the way the water tower is now, and hope you don't change it. I few things I'd suggest changing. The ladder in this picture is a cool idea, but I think the rings are too far apart. If you have more of those pieces, I'd suggest making the gap between each rung smaller. Also, the yellow door hinge. I'm assuming you don't have that part in tan, but since there is no other yellow in the buildings, It looks kind of strange. Have you tried how it looks in light grey? I think it look nice with some sort of sign or logo above the threshold, but it looks okay without one. Overall, I really like this. Keep up the good work. :-) Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 26, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 26, 2007 Great MOC and excellent pictures. Building this stronghold is one thing, but adding all those small details ... Those chickens and birds look very good. First time I see something like this in a MOC. Quote

Scyzoryk Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 I never saw a grey barrel before. Is grey an actual color? It is! It comes in these sets: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=7073-1 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=7071-1 Quote

I'm sure sne has been dying over the last year wondering when someone was going to answer it. How do you guys find these old topics anyway? Quote
Flatfoot Thompsen Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Awesome! I realy like those birds! Quote

WesternOutlaw Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Thank you for solving the age-old mystery. I'm sure sne has been dying over the last year wondering when someone was going to answer it. How do you guys find these old topics anyway? Good thing I let Sne wait for the answer. Seriously though, since we are revisiting this thread, this is really a terrific MOC. I like the color combination of tan and the orange-brown color, esp on the roof tops. The water tower with hose and barrel is also a great detailed addition to the MOC. Quote
Hinckley Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Are you having some problems today? The Brickster was the one asking  Okay. Whoever it was, it was asked over a year ago. But yes, this is an excellent MOC. Good thing I let Sne wait for the answer. Thanks for making me LOL. Quote
MoonCheese Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Cool. I love that water pipe! Nice use of colour to suggest the desert setting. It looks like mud bricks or adobe (not the PDF reader, but the building material). Good work! Quote
