Leewan Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Here's my entry for the Digital Hero category : Marshall Boyle. (He's flying because of the geometry of the shin armor) LXF / Brickshelf Quote
Dorek Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Funky name, but cool creation. Didn't realize you could get the visors in two-toned using LDD, that's some good stuff to know. A nicely consistent color scheme, and a neat little weapon. What more could one ask in a digital hero, honestly? Great posing too, by the way. That's always my bane in LDD. Quote
Zib Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Nice 'military' hero. I really don't understand the need to create a complex custom torso, but nice clean build. Quote
Toa_Of_Justice Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Great MOC, Leewan! Marshall reminds me of my own WarHero, who I made in 2012 for Veterans Day in the USA. I can just imagine our Heroes in battle together... -Toa Of Justice Quote
Leewan Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 Thank you for your kind comments. :) Marshall reminds me of my own WarHero, who I made in 2012 for Veterans Day in the USA. Hum yeah, must be because of the "military" colors and the pose (and maybe the helmet, which reminds me Halo and such universes). That's quite funny, because originally I didn't wanted to make a soldier-like Hero, I chose dark tan because it's a color that I like, and that is not used in HF, but yet looks good on a Hero. I made that pose just to show the Hero preparing to shoot, because an action pose is better than a simple standing pose (but much harder to make, especially in LDD x/ ). And the combination of all those elements make a soldier Hero. But your Hero, Toa_Of_Justice, is much bigger than mine (and looks more like a real soldier than mine, mine is more futuristic). I really don't understand the need to create a complex custom torso, but nice clean build. I like creating new things. I could have used a normal 2.0 frame, but it's not as fun as custom frames. And it's way more challenging to create a new body than use just a single part, and this is interesting, for me. Also, this body is the one I planned to use for my HoM entry. Unfortunately, it didn't "work" with the mutation effect : this body is quite blocky, and it wasn't easy to work with it. So I built it on LDD for my DH entry, and used another body for the HoM category. The physical body uses a Metru chest armor instead of the MTIS (which fits only thanks to a bug in LDD, IRL the MTIS would collide with the Inika leg armor), with a slightly different build. Quote
ToaJaller78 Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Oh. My. megablocking. Goodness. That is amazing Quote
The Mugbearer Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Great military-based Hero concept! And I like that render. :3 Quote

Different philosofy and approach. :) In HF designing, I prefer to use existing pieces when I don't see a functional reason to create samething from scratch. And it's way more challenging to create a new body than use just a single part I don't agree on this, I really believe that sometimes constrains and rules foster creativity. But at the end, neither is right or wrong. What matters is what is interesting for you. :) Edited July 10, 2013 by Zib Quote
Leewan Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 Different philosofy and approach. :)In HF designing, I prefer to use existing pieces when I don't see a functional reason to create something from scratch. I often use normal HF parts, especially when I'm too lazy to make custom builds, but I have the feeling of doing "clones" in the end, since it's always the same build. Custom bases are like a way of breaking habits. ^^ I don't agree on this, I really believe that sometimes constrains and rules foster creativity. Well, you can say that my constraint was to create a custom body. ;) But I agree, constraints foster creativity. :) Otherwise, I made a better render, unfortunately it took too much time, so I'm posting it here just for fun, the entry picture will remain the same. Leewan Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Thank you ! Btw, I rendered the MOC with alternative colors. I think I will update the Brickshelf gallery. Quote
