Hey all,

due to my job I hadn't been too active in the LEGO community lately, but since we got this new SW set this week (which I immediatelly bought ;-) ) and it's my free day today I tought it is time for a review! ;-)

7654 - Droids Battle Pack

Then let's show the build model itself:

The Stap is really nice though I still prefere the original one from 7121 - Naboo Swamp because the old one was less fragile and also not as bulky as the new one. Sure, the new one has an elegant and curvy design and resembles the movie thing better than the old one, but it hasn't this nice miniature vehicle feeling to it. (Okay, I have to admit that the Naboo Swamp was my very first Star Wars set, so I might be influenced by nostalgic feelings ;-) )

The letdown of the set is surely the Droid Transport since it is basically nothing more than a few parts on two 8 x 4 plates. No tricky build, no hidden extras, just nothing. Okay, the front can turn slightly (maybe 5 or 10

Great review and fantastic photos! I might get this set at some point just to get the SBDs and the STAP.

Good review.

Nice set too. The transports not that bad. I agree its not brilliant, the cockpit for example. Like you said no controls, but then what can we expect.

Personally, I like this STAP more than the original. And those SBDs are just *wub* .

Nice review, this looks sharp. I might have to get this, despite the fact i don't like the battle droids too much. Those SBDs are wicked though.

Can you please tell me if the battledroids still have the same color as in the old sets (e.g. Naboo Swamp), or has Lego changed the color to "new tan" or anything like that?

the new super battle droids are fantastic! why lego never used their longer and bigger legs on general greivous i will never know

Great review *y* ! Did you buy the Clone Battle Pack, too? Also, I wouldn't suggest to use the SBD arms as greebles, they're very fragile and break quickly (at least mine did :'-( ).

The big question is why only the US market is going "Army Building" and not the Europe-market |-/ - invasion in planning ;-) ?

That will be because the europe prices are so bloody high that you can't afford to army build!!

To sum it up - Mutley, look out - the army building starts soon ........ >:-)

Unfortunately not. I'm not sure how much exactly I'm allowed to buy, but my boss explained to me that I am supposed to use this rabatt only for my private usage. And since I'm buying alot there lately (not only LEGO) I am afraid that they won't let me buy that much more soon... :-P

Besides, the prices we have often are alot higher than the usual store prices which makes my 20% rabatt to a 5% rabatt to the average market price ;-)

Really? I had the impression that they are very solid and strong. But time will tell I think. And besides, SBD arms aren't that expensive from now on anymore! ;-)

Yeah, I think most stores only have the Droid one so far, if you look on BL, most new SW sets are Droid packs... But here's a BS gallery with pics of the clone pack :-) . The turret loks really, really crappy :-( .

This is a near perfect set ;-) The battle carrier is pretty good (way better than the clone speeder) and I love the STAP hehe !!

Those SBD are way better in grey than blue IMO !!

I can't wait to buy a few of these, considering I have 0 Droids. (I am only starting to buy starwars) Always wanted to by them and never got to it. I'm really loving it. This is awsome, really a good sign of the path which LEGO is heading in.

Mine arrived thsi morning. Its good. Due to being seriously broke, I'll be aiming the buy the new sets at at one per month, starting with the cheapest. Its sad, but necessary,

I just wonder: what IS that carrier thing? Doesn't appear in the New Essential Guide to Vessels and Vehicles or the Wookieepedia. Is it LEGO applying some artistic licence?

i also got both my battle packs this morning and a at-st :-) I have to say even though the clone battle pack is great, it is not even close when you compare the 2 packs side by side. The battle droid pack is much better value for money! 7 figs against 4 and better parts.
