Brick Miner Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 hey everyone !!! i've recently finished the digital instructions for my recently publicized MOC, Gunsligners Saloon #6758. i really wanted to share these, cause im really happy with how close to "official" i could get !!! i was going to post these in my already existing GSS #6758 thread, but felt there was enough discussion worthy stuff here to warrent an independant thread. comments, critizisms, and discussion (as always) WELCOME !!! these instructions may be of particular interest due to the table/chair/magnet system that was featured in Gunsligners Saloon... maybe of some interest to "mechanism" freaks like me. unfortunatly, no minifigs are represented here... for me to include them would have taken some work in adobe illustrator that i wasn't ready to get into. basically, the reward wouldn't have been worth the effort at this point. it took me a little longer than i expected, before i could show these off... i had a little trouble with brickshelf. see, i've jumped on the bandwagon and signed up for a brickshelf account recently. but a brickshelf moderator kept deleting my MOC instructions before making the folder public !!! i contacted the BS support by email... it was my understanding (after reading the entire TOS) that only offically relesed LEGO catalog and instruction scans were banned, not MOC instructions made with software. well, i get a response saying (in fewer words) that a moderator thought my digital creations were an offical LEGO document !!! as many of you know, my goal is to come as close to an offical LEGO release as possible with my MOCs and MOC presentations. im adding instructions to my list... so, let me know what you think !!! here are a few select pages... and here is a link (to the now cleared) brickshelf folder... http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=192771 - BrickMiner Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 8, 2006 Governor Posted July 8, 2006 Once again Mr Brick Miner you have stunned me with your ability to simulate LEGO authenticity. You're really raising the bar around here ya know! Did you use MClad to design these instructions? Quote
Norro Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Very impressive! I ampredicting a rapid expansion of the western universe! God Bless, Nathan Quote
Brick Miner Posted July 8, 2006 Author Posted July 8, 2006 Many Mant Tks for doing this BMSincerely those instructions are great: clear and easy !! I am really impressed by your work They really do your MOC justice and I am sure that all the Wild West fans will either build it as is or will keep the structure and mod it well, many thanks to you for writing such kind words yoda !!! i would be honord if WW fans everywhere took my work so seriously !!! only, i can forsee problems there... im sure somone would take credit for them.oh, and im not sure where they would get the nessesary stickers for the model either. Did you use MClad to design these instructions?i used three programs to get the finished product. LDraw, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.how would it look if you'd create the WW background of your cover as a background?thanks for the good words snefore, but as a background for what ??? im not sure what you mean.Very impressive! I am predicting a rapid expansion of the western universe!well, my next MOC is even more ambitious than this one. im planning on creating a whole new WW subtheme. complete with new iconography and background/foreground imagery for the box design. it will all be based on the traditional WW theme design (and traces of that will be apparent).im planning on all new minifig designs with the new MOC. it seems that when LEGO introduced a subtheme, they also introduced a new line of minifigs. the pirate's islanders are a good example, or the WW indians. i plan on following this concept though to the end with my new WW subtheme, Ghost Town. needless to say, im excited !!! ellerb Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 I think your instructions look nice. A few things could be improved. The black elements are hard to read (as they are on LEGO instructions). Adding lighter outlines around the bricks would help a lot. This can be done by hand in photoshop or with MegoPOV rendering. You should consider adding which parts are used for each step on that page. Check out the instructions I made a few years ago for a Building Instructions Portal article: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=401676 www.bricksonthebrain.com/instructions/resources/tutorial1.cfm (although Jake's site seems to be down right now) Ben Quote
Brick Miner Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 When I seen this I died and went to lego heaven.thanks for resurrecting my thread EA :-D no really, im glad that people are still appreciating the hard work that went into them. so now that you are in LEGO heaven, will you be constructing a saloon of your own :-P -------------------------------------------------- I think your instructions look nice.
