The barque Dodelijk Klompschoen

Recommended Posts

mister_phes, have you seen this? Found it on LUGNET and thought you (or anybody else for that matter) might like it ;)

(dial-up users watch out - lots of pics to download!)

No Hobbes! Haven't check LugNET for ages! Good find.

dk03.jpg

Its magnificent, but doesn't accurately depict a barque. There is another MOC on LugNET that looks much more historically accurate in regards to design. I think the creator has them confused with Brigs/Brigattines, because that's what this resembles to me.

I'll find the other barque MOC later. Right now I need a nap.

Really? I never would have worked that out for myself...

Using the 7075 presents some difficulties, and the hull pieces are quite different to work with compared to the traditional hull pieces. Tumblehome is incorporated into the hull pieces, but it

This MOC is an example that 7075's hull is not a bad thing. The set itself has a lot of pieces I don't like, but the hull is really worth getting. I'm still wondering if I should get one (I mean the whole set unfortunately, buing only the hull parts would be a great solution but for me it's almost impossible).

sorry to revive this topic as well, people, just this note:

as some one on lugnet wrote: it should be "DodelijkE klompschoen".

the first word means "deadly"

the second word is a variant of "klomp", which means a "wooden shoe"; a wooden shoe is a typical shoe the dutch farmers used to wear...

so basically your ship is called: "Deadly wooden shoe"

I saw this yesterday and was incredibly impressed.

The colors are kind of wierd, but I don't mind them that much. The rest of it makes up for it!

It inspires me alot. That 4+ Hull doesn't seem too bad after seeing this.

Well, yes it does, but at least SOMETHING good can be done with it.

This silly name would rather fit the original 7075 than this fantastic MOC... :)

Ahhhh... But Dreamweb didn't necessarily mean 7075 sails, which I'd agree would spoil it and perhaps are the worst LEGO pirate ship sails to date.

I do believe the MOC at the top of this thread has custom sails... I've created a whole new thread to discuss those because I want to go in depth about it.

Here's a link for all those too lazy to find it manually:

At least with that Dungstain Ship (or whatever the Harry Potter ship is called) we're getting a brown hull.

To bad that it came out black :-(....not that is is great to use but okay...

Wow. A thread about one of my vessels, before my time here!

No? How so?

I'm pretty sure it does.

Well, I did originally intend rigging it as a brig, but in the in end felt that the size justified the inclusion of a mizzen, so I guess you're partly right, except for the bit about me being confused, of course. ;)

This your splendid vessel Mr Legeaux? Excellent! You can answer a few questions about it now you're here and assuming you'll check this thread again!

My first question is: What does Dodelijk Klompschoen mean in English?

That was answered on the first page of the thread.

"Deadly wooden shoe" or more likely "Deadly Clog"

The ship deserves a better name!!! Okay, it does look like a wooden shoe a bit because of the square shape of the hull, but despite of that it deserves a better name. Mr Legeaux, your ships are great but what is wrong with you if it comes to names!!

You give them wrong names!! For example this ship, and don't forget le Mis
