The Best of 2007

Its almost time for 2007 to end and 2008 to begin. As most have noticed there is countdown in my signature and has remained there for over 6 months. So this leads us all up to what is the Best of 2007!!Its all very simple, vote which theme you liked the best. For Now there are two questions:

- The Best new Theme

- The Best Overall theme

I think that should cover everything since it would be too hard to narrow down the best set of best fig and such I was thinking about adding, best exclusive but there aren't too many sets for that.

Take into consideration which theme provided the best figs, best accessories, best set design and best enjoyment.

Then on New Years Day see the final poll results!!And Which you voted to be the best of 2007!

Finally if I missed any option or you have a suggestion for another question like "Best Part" or whatever feel free to say so.

Castle. :-D By now you should all know that I love Castle (or you could just check my sig... X-D), and this year they finally got back to the great Castles. And we finally got an undead army, how cool was that? :-D So for me, definitely Castle. I'll probably vote the same for '08 too! :-D X-D

Best new theme: Castle. Great new figs, the revival of old ones, the weapons, and the sets combine to massively overwhelm the others. Aqua Raiders had a better set design, and sure, they had great figs, but Castle, boy, that blew me away.

Best overall theme: Star Wars. Star Wars has become more and more accurate this year, and seems to be starting to cater to AFOL wishes while staying in the kiddie's range. Except for the MOC-in-a-box, the MF. :-D

for best new theme i voted for castle because the reintroduction into a great theme is always welcome and i think they did exceptionally well!

for best overall theme i voted for creator because even though im a city/town boy at heart, i think TLC produced high quality sets in this theme including the tan house and ferris wheel.

I agree with iamded, I voted Castle in both. It was an outstanding theme that took all of us by surprise, with a perfect blend of knights and fantasy.

I'm the one guy who'll probably vote for Aqua Raiders as best new theme, as I loved the classic aquazone sets, and the Claw Crusher: a classic large scale sub, the best set in the bunch.

For best theme, I chose Town as, by you can tell, I'm A HUGE Town fan. Plus the reintroduction of subthemes like Octan and ports made me very happy. :'-)

For best new theme I chose Castle. I have only one set of ot, but that's because I restricted myself to 2 themes ;) But the Castle IS the one that made me ignore that.. so.... ;)

For best overall theme I chose City. Normally I would've chosen Star Wars, but since I didn't buy any SW-sets, that wouldn't make sense :-P

I just realized I HAVE bought SW-sets, and more then City as well... Damn my memory >:-(

Best "New" Theme: Castle.

I have a hard time calling castle "new" but for the sake of this poll, it's clearly a new direction for LEGO, or more correctly, a step closer to an old direction that worked so well.

Classic knights, undead factions, and the surprising and much appreciated trolls and dwarves pretty much sums it up. We like our castle themes to have strong factions and some variation. We got that this time, and I believe it will continue.

Best Overall Theme: Star Wars

The one theme that was able to bring me back, and the one that keeps me in, year in and year out. Was it the most brilliant assortment of sets ever? No, not really, but the battle packs go a long way toward keeping me happy. Hoth and the AT-AT cover most of the rest of it, though the short lifespan of Hoth was clearly a mistake as an exclusive.

The Republic Cruiser and TIE Crawler, on the other hand, were perfect exclusives. Not as widely appreciated, they needed the added sales incentive that comes from exclusive status. Hoth didn't need it, it would have sold widely anywhere it went. My hope and dream is that LEGO will look at the success of Hoth and realise that next year (2009) would be a fine time for some Hoth related battlepacks and the long desired taun tauns.

All in all, a winner of a year for LEGO. Well, except those damn jellies. >:-(

Well I voted Castle simply since it was a huge comeback from KK2 :-X .With its shiny weapons and amour, great figs(princess *wub* ), a bit of fantasy and all around great sets. Aqua raiders was good but not that good, since it had only 1 wave plus an additional special item and was limited to sea creature battles

For best overall I picked Star Wars since it was there 30th anniversary plus there was an abundance of great sets. With the new blaster molds, battle packs, stunning redesigns, great exclusive items(hoth), the Golden C3PO(I'm sure we all remember him :-D ), and such.

I can just imagine when I do this next year, I'm guessing Indy and Castle will win it, However thats for 08. As for 07 I say SW and Castle!!

Frankly I love the Aqua raiders, albeit maybe im abit biased, because they remind me of back when I was younger and the original aquanauts :-$

So of course I like them. When I got the Aqua raider base today for xmas, my brother even asked if that was the same one I got years ago :-D (The Neptune Discovery Lab, that is)

I voted for Castle as the best new theme because it truly was a rebirth and not just an extension of KK2.

I also voted for Castle as the best overall theme because while Star Wars had some really cool additions, especially the MTT and the USC models, I just don't think I could vote for a licensed theme as the best theme, especially when Castle went above and beyond my expectations as pure LEGO.

mars mission wasnt so good and nobody liked it that much

aqua r isnt even a theme..it wasnt distributed in all countries (never made it here)

and they will not qontinue it i guess

town-city is the best theme this year!

we finally got many things we wanted

and if you add cafe corner to the theme then there is no competition!

creator was also great

i got most of these sets and if there is a future with me and this hobby (mania) then its with creator!

star wars has seen better years but the new falcon is just the best ever

the other lines didnt go so good..

i mean sponge bob is just a waste of money for me

and batman wasnt as good as the first year

i hope we get better designed batman sets this year

Castle and Town, these were my choises :-)

However, I don't feel that mindstorms fit here since it's a totally different concept. If I had the money I would have bought them yesterday, but the drive would't be the brick and MOCing fun. It would be mainly robotics/programming.

Am I the only one that loved Mars Mission? Seriously, once you get past the jellies ( :-X ) there's a plethora of new parts/old parts in new colors to be found, and of course, there's the AMAZING ships...

But the best theme, as anyone who knows me knows I picked, is Bionicle. The Barraki were darned good and killed clone sets, Nocturn made me drool, the Mahri are excellent, and the Titans, especially Maxilos, were brilliantly done. The only downside was the whole limegreen fiasco...

I voted Castle and Castle too...if Batman had made more than two sets this year, I would have voted for them. Star Wars didn't do enough this year to really impress me. Creator and Town/City were my close second choice picks for overall greatness.

AR was actually pretty good, with cool sea creatures and some great figs plus a chance to get more treasure

As for next year I think Indiana Jones will win Both categories :-D Unless SW or City pulled off something awesome!
