"Ah Eshey, not to worry. It's simply the localised gravitational lensing effects of a space-time anomaly."

"You mean a wormhole?"

"Probably.... Take us in!"

"What, in there!?"

"Yes Eshey, how else are we supposed to find out if there is a worm inside?"

"Ahhhh!"

"Hmm, I don't remember the bridge being this dark, I almost can't see it!"

"What?"

"And Eshey, why are you out of uniform? And more to the point, why am I in uniform?"

"Pombe, are you feeling ok? We are both dressed as normal."

"Ahem, can we please get on we the brifieng?"

"Of course, erm, whats with the beard and goth get-up Dr Long? It looks good on you!"

"Who is Dr Long? I'm Big Long Sally, MANTIS Chief Scientist and your boss! You have been eating the recommended daily allowance of Larvae haven't you?"

"Larvae? er, yes, yes, I think so."

"Right, Eshey, you are to take explorer recruit Pombe and conduct recon of Happy Valley. Sensors indicate large concentrations of awesomnium as indicated in green on the holo-map."

"Recruit...?"

"Yes, and the red markers?"

"Ah yes, our sensors indicate some form of mobile plant life exists in the valley. If you can, please bring back a live sample. Any questions?"

"Lots!"

"No sir, mission understood, and I'll ensure recruit Pombe understands fully too!"

"Here's your ride, recruit. The H0-R5E recon speeder."

"Horse? It looks more like a bird?"

"Consider it a Pegasus then!"

"Eshey, your Gunslinger mobile suit is prepped and in bay 12."

"Thanks Kat!"

Happy Valley, Jurin II.

"Sensors picking up a large bio-signature ahead, might be one of the plants we're looking for. Pombe you go scout it out!"

"Ok! ...I'm sure I used to give the orders..."

"Ahh, Big pointy teeth, Die! Die!"

"Pombe! Big Long Sally said a live sample!"

"Wait, why have you gone all wibbly!?"

"Oooohhhh!"

"Ah, much better!"

I wanted to push the "new and original builds must be similar in shapes and functionality but not identical" to some degree- it was rather necessary for the horse due to it's size. I also took some inspiration for the horse (the head in particular) from some of the Nexo Knights pictures I've seen.

It's reasonably horse shaped:

Although I couldn't integrate a saddle piece like Pombe's original so he just stands inside:

The Holo-table is an idea I've been kicking around for a while and replaces the breifing table scene in Pombe's original (this is perhaps the biggest change and if ruled out of bounds, I may well upgrade it for a future weekly build!).

I know the plant was actually built by Pombe for Challenge 1 so not scored for his build, but I couldn't exactly leave it out of the story could I? So in the hope mine does score:

Finally the Mech was really why I chose this build, the original had so much firepower I just felt it had to be a MANTIS design! I tried to keep key elements in the design:

The hip mounted missile pack:

The large shoulder cannon and ammo tank- now a chemical laser system with two tanks on my re-design:

The Left arm mounted missiles are replace by a 6-shot launcher:

The Laser pistol is 'holstered' on the left leg (after all Pombe's was a wild-west build!) Draw!:

The radar dish and comms aerials were also kept and tweaked and perhaps the biggest changes was making the cockpit transparent:

Oh and double finally, the Engineering bay. Its only one wall due to running out of time/parts, but I am happy it is a good MANTIS-isation of the original:

You did a great job on this one. I think you captured Pombe's humor very well. All of the builds look great too.

Well, this was Pombe back when he used to wear clothes and wasn't quite a whale penetrating, reality distortion in his own right! I'm not sure I could properly replicate his humour even if I tried!

I also wanted to have the distortion switch Pombe and Eshey's roles (i.e. Pombe as a trigger happy recruit), though clearly Pombe has some idea that things aren't quite as they should be.

Wow excellent build! I love the reversal of Pombe and Eshley. I like your time/space warp images. It makes sense that Pombe can warp back if he needs to.

I'm defiantly felling the Pombe! Not so mush "inside" the distortion but he still have enough Pombe/meta awareness to know something is wrong.

Haven't thought of it but Eshey (even the Octan one) fit so good in MANTIS.

And the builds are just great! It doesn't mater if Pombe didn't get points for all those things (he uses the same beefing room and lab too) You made them for the challenge, they should count.

Well, shucky darn and slop the chickens! That there is a fine steed and some even finer ridin', if I do say so myself!

Wow, you even included builds that were recycled from previous entries and not officially part of that challenge entry! Well done!

Of course, he did, you tenderfoot! woofmcmoose is a builder you can ride to the river with. He even fixed you up with a mech more awesome than Big Z's. Boy oh boy, will Big Z kick up a row when he finds out about this! Woo-wee! Watch and learn, Eshey. This is how real builders ride!
