Kodan Black Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Challenge 2: Cat A // PERSONAL DIARY // Dr. Long sent me a message that there is some "disturbance" located coreward in the galaxy. All personnel are being asked to get fighters and other space vehicles in order to be prepared. I was assigned the OF-98 Mosquito, a small lightly armed and armored fighter. It was designed as a very fast and agile fighter, but in a stand up against heavier fighters it wouldn't fare well. I wasn't too worried though, despite being a decent pilot I'd only had the minimum Octan Corp space combat training and had zero real combat experience. I'd rather have something fast to escape with than try to stand and fight it out. I'm sure Dr. Long took that into consideration when assigning me the Mosquito. Landing Mode: Flight Mode: Rear View: Bottom View (both of the ship and my minifig -- and yes I HAVE been working out!): Top View: Quote
shmails Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Nice work, I really like how there are separate modes with different configurations. The minifig holding two bars is a bit odd looking, but after looking at it for a few minutes, I am not sure of a better solution? Quote

Yeah, I tried for about an hour to come up with different ways of having a "seat" or something else, but nothing fit. I actually had a totally different cockpit in mind for it, but I just don't seem to have the right parts for it. So this was Plan B. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Have you tried something like this: Kel Doran fighter by BobDeQuatre, on Flickr Quote

The only other idea I came up with was more of an explanation for there not being anything in his hands. You could say that all the controls are connected to the pilot via neurological connection from helmet to head. Not very creative, but it would explain it. As I said, a good solution considering the problem. Quote
Umbra-Manis Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Nice ship! However you will be contacted soon by M.A.N.T.I.S. lawyers regarding your use of an insect name for you craft. Quote
mccoyed Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 He seems so vulnerable in there! Very unique design! Quote
Kodan Black Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 Have you tried something like this: Kel Doran fighter by BobDeQuatre, on Flickr I did not give that a try. My original plan was very much like that but the separation of the cockpits being 2 studs wide and rotated 90 degrees clockwise. I just couldn't get it to line up with the various offsets. I have almost none of the bricks with studs on the side and no offset, sadly. Quote
LittleJohn Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Cool little ship! I like the different modes Quote
Big Sal Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Nice build! You've got a great mix of colours and overall shape here, and I like the cockpit! Who knows, maybe in the future two black sticks are the best way to fly a ship Quote
