It is teeming with life, although I am not sure how. The cracks in the ground are huge, and the gas that is billowing out smells like the Axle locker room! My saving grace is the Land Speeder is was issued for this mission. It allows me to cruise over the terrain quickly and avoid the large gas pockets I have seen in the distance. I am almost finished here, i will report again soon. ----------- End Log ---------- Another planet explored for Jacques LaRose, intrepid explorer for the Octan Corp. Bob De Quatre Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I don't know how I should react to the fact that the planet that's named after me release locker room flavored gas... Quote
shmails Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 I don't know how I should react to the fact that the planet that's named after me release locker room flavored gas... That truly made me laugh out loud! It did not occur to me at all, I am a bit slow on the uptake in that way. I think you should feel honored, the smell of a locker room is the smell of hard work and determination! Quote
Mike S Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Beautiful landscape! Nicely done! I don't know how I should react to the fact that the planet that's named after me release locker room flavored gas... You mean scented??? I truly hope you Octan guys aren't tasting locker room flavored gas... Quote
Kodan Black Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I like the build and the changes you made to the speeder really help it. Feels more cohesive this way. The landscape is amazing as always and the steam coming out is really nice. The knocked over plants in the wake of the speeder is a nice touch. My one critique is that purple is very distracting. It totally overwhelms the scene and on the side shots removes all the great contrast the pink flowers have. Ideally the background is ... well a background. That shade really draws a lot of attention and I find it detracts from the build. Quote
narbilu Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I don't know how I should react to the fact that the planet that's named after me release locker room flavored gas... Thats just hilarious. I think the scenery is absolutely B E A utiful. Quote
Kai NRG Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Very nice work with the cracks in the ground shmails, and the pink flowers make for a really neat touch as well! I do think (what with all the critique of the lack of critique recently I feel it's appropriate to voice this ) that the contrast between the SNOT and not-SNOT landscape is a bit to stark. We go from perfectly smooth to incredibly bumpy. On the second and fourth pictures that's not so eye-grabbing, but especially on the first one it stands out a little too much. Anyway, as I said before, the cracks in the ground are great! And I hadn't realized that the planet was named for Bob until it was mentioned either! Quote
Tomsche Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Love how you did the smoke coming out of the crevasses, nice build Quote
Jody Meyer Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Mental note...do not go in the locker room , Another great build. Quote
mediumsnowman Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I don't know how I should react to the fact that the planet that's named after me release locker room flavored gas... You mean scented??? I truly hope you Octan guys aren't tasting locker room flavored gas... That could explain our absymal aiming skills. Great build! I love the knocked over plants and gas coming from the crevices. Lots of nice parts usage on the speeder! Quote
mrcp6d Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Haha! I just noticed that Ertauq is Quatre backwards! The gas plumes gently coming out of the ground are well done and I like the attention to detail with the plants knocked down behind the speeder. It's not the first time you've done something like that, but each time I've though "that was smart". I don't really think the violently pink background is helping you any here. Is it edited in or the real-life color? Quote
shmails Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 Thanks for all the feedback everyone! The purple background is actual craft paper, it is the opposite side of the blue I used last time, so much more lazy than anything else! I thought this would give the build a more "alien" feel, but maybe this one was too much. You never know until you try! Same goes for the ground, I wanted to do cracks, but wanted it to feel different than other snot landscapes I have done, so I added the random plates as spots for the biomass to grow. I can see how it may be a bit off putting, but I like it with the brown tree thingies. Creating new scenery that is both recognizable and alien is one of my biggest challenges. As for the smell, you get used to it! Thanks again everyone! Quote
mccoyed Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Great build, Shmails. One of my favorites on AG for sure. Quote
LittleJohn Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Gorgeous build, shmails! The brown plants, cracks in the ground and smoke all look fantastic Excellent speeder too Quote
David FNJ Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I really like the smoke/steam/gas coming out of the ground. The colors here excellent, and that land speeder is awesome! Quote
Big Sal Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Yet another great build! I really like the background colour choice personally Quote
Andrew JN Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Wow! The design for the plants really makes this build look like a non-earth planet! The speeder of course is fantastic! Nice touch with the smoke coming out from between the cracks. Quote
