Beware when the demons in the shadows come to light... and they look like this...

dscn5949.jpg

I've had this MOC knocking about for a while, and finally got some decent enough light to try and take pictures of it. Raahajjak is a demonic shadow beast with 4 arms (2 being vestigial, adds to the creepiness). I wanted to build something that was almost entirely black, bestial, shadowy and scary for a while, and this was what resulted:

Some of you might think this MOC looks very familiar - that's because it is based upon Raahhiju the Marauder, one of my BFTGM entries.

Ignore the occcassional red, blue or dark grey - those can't really be helped as I didn't have the pieces in black.

Comments and the like are appreciated. Please excuse the photography - I wanted to try and capture the shadowy vibe by photographing it on a black background - you can see how well that turned out  Additional pics on a white background at request, though hopefully you can see all the detail in these pics.

Hope you enjoyed looking at this MOC :classic:

EDIT: Typo corrected.

Whoa. This is incredible! Definitely has that shadowy vibe. I like how you combined CCBS, System, and JP/Dino Island. It's incredible how much detail you put into this! It's definitely your best MOC yet!

Okay, now that's just disturbing. Excellent use of the Dinosaurs-style head piece, and the orange is really the perfect color for the eyes. Perhaps you could cover up the blue pieces by adding on extra's of those T-shaped technic pieces on top of those that are already there?

Thanks very much. I just hope I didn't give anyone nightmares with this MOC

I've had the basic torso design since 2012 (that's the one you see on The Marauder), it only recently did I give it an upgrade with more advanced techniques to bulk it out in the last month or so.

I could cover the blue bits up with more T-pieces I suppose, but it'd probably look better if I just swapped them out for black. Only thing is, the blue pins on the foot are axle pins, and the black ones on average cost about 40-50 times what the blue ones cost on BL. That's just for used parts

And I just noticed something with the pics: some of the parts do appear blurry, particularly the chains. Please blame the low shutter speed of my camera and the fact they move at the slightest breath of wind for that

This is what I call cool. The old dinosaur head looks fantastic, and those talons on hands, very cool.

I suggest you to Bricklink a few (hundred) black 2 axles though, they are not expensive. The black axle-pins are, though.

I know I need to get some black 2 axles (and 3M pins) for future MOC's, and somehow I forget to insert a pound's worth of each of them every single time I place a BL order

Thankfully, the red (and blue) is only really visible from the back, so it's not a huge issue when this model is displayed on my shelf :classic:

Wow! Really nice job with all the greebling! And is that a leather background?!?

Thanks. You're close, the background is faux leather, I bought far too much of it at my local craft store (I sometimes make clothes for action figures so I keep a stock of different fabrics) so I occassionally use what I haven't used yet as a background for photographing MOC's on :classic:
