LittleJohn Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 A counter guerrilla, against Garmadon's, The Storming of Ras-El-Akhen Wall design inspired by Gideon. After breaching the outer wall of Ras-el-akhen, the Ulander troops thought they had it made. But upon seeing the inner wall, they had second thoughts about their attack... More pictures here: Link I tried a new background for this build, any input on that welcome. C&C appreciated Quote
Bregir Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 The background works well as a contrast to the light colours of the build! The posing of both archers and targets is great, and the wall looks very imposing - and I love how you made the cross section! Good job! Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Dynamic build, good choice of colours (incl. background) Quote
Gideon Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Great counter! That will teach them to study the map some more before rushing into a seemingly safe breach Also nice to see that more Kaliphlin cities have adopted the strengthening measures used in the Walls of Petraea, where layers of bricks are making the walls more resilient to siege weapons, earthquakes and elemental attacks. (Note: That technique was in turn inspired by the real-life walls of Constantinople where that technique was used to make the walls more resilient to earthquakes) Photography is stellar as well, the background works wonderfully! Thanks Gideon! And they definitely should have studied better Quote
Garmadon Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Nice counter LJ! The Ulanders are still wondering why there is an interior wall in a grain silo though (they thought one wall was bad enough!) Quote
Adair Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Great counter! I think this one should win it for us! Love the wall and landscape! And posing! Long live the Republic! Quote
LittleJohn Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Nice wall! And good counter! Thanks LV! Good work on the shape of the wall! Thanks Kai Me gusta!! Excellent job with the wall!!! Thanks Maxim! Glad you like it Nice counter LJ! The Ulanders are still wondering why there is an interior wall in a grain silo though (they thought one wall was bad enough!) You attacked a grain silo? I thought you attacked Ras-El-Akhen Great counter! I think this one should win it for us! Love the wall and landscape! And posing! Long live the Republic! Thanks Adair Quote
Garmadon Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 You attacked a grain silo? I thought you attacked Ras-El-Akhen It was originally intended to be an attack on Ras-El-Akhen, but due to the rules and general idea behind guerrilla builds (not supposed to be direct attacks on enemies) it was changed to an attack on a small fortification that provided food to the city (oh, and then it was changed to a completely different part of the map! ) So I certainly can't blame you for misunderstanding! I dare say that your build is more in the spirit of the rules than mine was though, so there shouldn't be any problem! Quote

Jacob Nion Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Of course there's always a bigger wall behind! Great job! Background is ok imho, but I think a plane white Background would have worked as well. Except it's important for the story that it's night :P Quote

MassEditor Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 (edited) Excellent counter! That wall looks superb and quite intimidating with its grand height. I can certainly imagine the Ulanders' frustration at breaking through one wall just to come up against another even more impressive! Edited March 28, 2015 by MassEditor Quote
