Yoshi648 Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 (edited) Lego Technic set 8428 Concept Car had four alternate models that could be built. However, only instructions for one of them were included in the physical instruction book, the others were on the CD included with the set. Due to the age of the CD (and the fact that 8432 didn't include it) the instructions are hard to come across for the other three alternate models. For those of you who are interested in creating the alternate models, I have uploaded the instructions from two of the three alternates to my Brickshelf account. Clicking on the following images will take you to their respective gallery where the instructions can be found. Model 1 (NOTE: Instructions not available yet) Model 2 Model 3 Edited December 21, 2009 by Yoshi648 Quote
DLuders Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Yes, Year 1998 Sets 8428 (Turbo Command with CD-ROM) and 8432 (Turbo Command without CD-ROM) had the COOL WHEELS. I read somewhere that the low-profile tires were the "stickiest" of any Lego tire made. Thanks for posting the alternate instructions! Quote
CP5670 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 These instructions might come in handy. I have the CD for this set, but I'm not sure if it still works on modern computers. The models themselves look pretty goofy, but I like the last one. It would make a good Space minifig-scale model with a few changes. I read somewhere that the low-profile tires were the "stickiest" of any Lego tire made. Thanks for posting the alternate instructions! That would make sense. They aren't filled with air, so they don't compress and slip like most other tires. All three of the larger sets from 1998 used these wheels, but they weren't seen again after that except in one service pack. Quote
Jetro Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Thansk for making these aailable. Using the CD was a pain and if I remember correctly you had to win some sort of racing game before you got access to all of them. In short - much better like this! Quote
RockeTeK Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 (edited) Sorry to wake up an older topic, but I just have to mention this... I recently bought this set for around EUR15,- and ofcourse, the CD was not working anymore. So I turned to google, and guess what the first (usefull) result was...? Thats right: Eurobricks! What a great forum we have, and what a nice model 8428 is! Thanks to Yoshi648! Edited March 19, 2011 by RockeTeK Quote
Blakbird Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Thanks for resurrecting this thread. I had forgotten about it and it looks like I never made a copy of these instructions. Has anyone gone to the trouble of collecting the individual images from Brickshelf and making PDFs? If someone has already done it, that would save me a lot of time instead of doing it myself. Quote
DLuders Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Yes, I've made PDFs of the downloaded 155 ea. PNG files for the D (2nd) Alternate, and the 105 ea. PNG files for the E (3rd) Alternate. Blakbird, I will be e-mailing these to you in a few hours (after my son gets done with a school project he needs to do now on the computer). If anybody else wants them too, send an e-mail to me at LudersDG@MSN.com . If Yoshi648/ LegoV8 posts the images of the C (1st) Alternate, I'll download them too and convert them into a PDF. Quote

DLuders Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 [bUMP] On his YouTube channel, sebykos has posted 5 videos of all 5 versions of the Lego Technic 8428 / 8432 set. Here are two of them: "Accelerator" Model C: "Scorcher" Model D: Quote
seby Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) Hello Guys, I wanted the building instructions for the alternate models for a long time ago. Since 1999 i own the 8432 set which didn't include the CD-ROM. Theese days i managed to find the cd image on this site http://www.brickfactory.info/iso/index.html So i built the "Accelerator" (model 1) which doesn't have instructions here yet, and then, because the instructions are in fact video files, i thought it would be nice to upload the instructions on youtube, to share them with you and anyone who needs them. Theese are the links: Model C Model D Model E Also i posted the instructions for the two main models Model A Model B Thanks for the two instructions which were posted here long before my addition LE: here i was talking about the pdf. ones, not the previous post Sorry for the bad English... LE: you work fast DLuders, i think i was just writing my post..., getting the links..., when you posted my videos. I just posted them on youtube, and i don't know how did you managed to find them before my post. To post theese was the main reason i made my account here, and by the time i was writing, you already posted them :)) lol Edited November 17, 2011 by seby Quote
DLuders Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 @ seby: Welcome to Eurobricks! I like your five YouTube videos -- they are very clear and easy to understand. Thanks for sharing them! Quote
seby Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 They are clear and easy to understand because they are made from the files i found on the 8428 CD-ROM. They are not made by me, i just joined, converted and uploaded them on youtube, because they were separated in a few hundreds of video clips, one for each step, and were in an unusual format (.smk) Quote
Meatman Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I am going to have to pick one of these sets up. Quote
Richard Dower Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Apologies for bumping...but thanks to everyone here who posted. I just bought 8432 but it has no manual, so these .PDF files are a lifesaver! Quote

I know you feel very happy and thankful, but I am not sure whether this justifies bumping a 4,5 year old topic. (actually I know it doesn't) Quote

(actually I know it doesn't) This happens once in a while and I was wondering: is it not possible Jim to lock old topics if it is unwanted to dredge them up? Just a thought to prevent this from happening again... Quote

Just a thought to prevent this from happening again... I will be quite a chore to close all topics which are out of date And sometimes bumping can be useful. So it's hard to determine which to close and which to keep open. I think we are generally doing okay in Technic, so no worries Quote

syclone Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Sorry for off-topic, but why there have been released two identical sets under different numbers? For different markets? Quote
Blakbird Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Sorry for off-topic, but why there have been released two identical sets under different numbers? For different markets? One of them came with a CD-ROM and the other didn't. Always check Technicopedia for this kind of question! Quote
