    LEGO LotR - general discussion

Try looking up the definition of misconstrue, that might put you on the correct track. You thought Lego was teasing you with their release plans. I disagree that everyone in this topic knows what they are talking about. It's very obvious that there are some who don't. Hmm, maybe you weren't the only person to say that Lego was teasing you, and I wasn't specifically talking about just you? I know, hard to think I would address anyone else besides you? I like you you so quickly picked up the nasty, condescending tone that you so obviously hate. As Faefrost was wise to point out, it's obvious Lego gave thought to Balrog and Fell Beast designs at some point since they are in the marketing materials. You have blinders on since you can't seem to accept that Lego doesn't share with the public everything they work on. I guess they put together Orthanc overnight, since it rapidly went from being announced to showing up on shelves? Oh, wait, it was in that designer photo years ago. Sorry, I just can't tolerate the sheer absurdity and lunacy of all they lapses in logic and judgement occurring in this thread. I didn't know your egos were so delicate that you can't handle being pointed out when wrong, to the point where some people take offense at others being pointed out for being wrong! White Knight syndrome at work here.

Do you even know what hypocracy is? Clearly not. You just want to insult me. Try looking in a mirror next time.

And here it is. The completely expected, long-winded reply from Deathleech. You disagree with me that Lego planned a 3rd wave based SOLELY on their lack of advertising it??? Yeah, that's why you get my "condescending tone" as you feel it is. You think Lego owes you full disclosure of everything they're doing and if YOU can't see it, it must not exist. Your logic is so badly flawed. Do you really think they planned out wave 1 without writing down plans for wave 2, 3 or more? When they planned wave 2, they definitely had plans for wave 3. And Lego brought it's A-Game to wave 1. I'm actually sick of reading your ignorant comments page after page. And your quote of Sir Blake is a good example: wave 2 was NOT a bunch of "screwball set choices". They make perfect sense if you have a wave 3 planned out. But you, in your short-sightedness, insist there wasn't one, because YOU don't see wave 3 pictured in the Hobbit booklets. I guess that means there's no Simpsons house, either? There's every chance Lego is waiting until after Hobbit to release wave 3. OR poor sales might have killed it (from the very strong A-Game of wave 1!) Black Gate sells very well in my neighborhood. Mouth of Sauron is a very cool looking figure to the main target market of Lego's chief demographic. Yeah, you WANT to think I started getting "nasty" first. I guess you don't care to read what I was first responding to, huh? Hey, maybe next you guys will think LEGO sent me here to further tease and provoke you? You know, like they do with their releases, right?

There's a way to verbalize your complaints without whining. After a few people insisting that they would give up Lego altogether if they didn't get what they want, even not buying for their kids if they didn't get what they, the parent wants, and complaining about how Lego "makes no sense" as if they are doing everything wrong. THEN you have people foolishly believing that Lego is personally trying to tease them with their releases, as if Lego is intentionally trying to provoke them! This thread is full of a bunch of truly sick negativity! How do YOU respond to someone complaining that they hate EVERYTHING Lego puts out, but will quit if they don't get a 3rd LOTR wave? Would any business person seriously believe that person will be much of a future customer anyway? But really, who puts such ridiculous demands out there like that? I get it, you guys want to dogpile on me and take out your frustrations. But seriously, the level of entitlement going on here is truly mentally sick! Funny, how you choose not comment against anyone else who wants to bash Lego, but you'll speak up if you feel like someone's supporting Lego. And what, pray tell, do YOU have to offer? Who are you to determine what's worthy or not? You've posted your own off-topic comments then complain about things going off-topic. Hypocritical, isn't it? I HAVE posted positive comments in this thread. I have contributed. I just don't come back every single day to repeat myself. This isn't a discussion forum any longer, just a room full of parrots! Gondor, Gondor! Eowyn, Faramir, Witch King! Mouth of Sauron is bad! Lego bad! Yeah, not exactly the most stimulating of discourse. Cherry pick much? Or do you care to actually read where I actually put my money where my mouth is and provided counterpoints to the arguments? Quit whining ;)

I get it. You can't counterpoint what I've said, so you're left to insulting me instead. Just like the rest here. Attack the messenger when you can't fight the message. I guess you support the guy who said he'd stop buying Lego for his kids then? I shouldn't expect much sense to come from a group that think that Lego is intentionally teasing them by not giving them everything they demand when they demand it.

I'm not whining page after page after page about how wrong Lego is and how they "make no sense". I'm pointing out their strategy for those too dense to see it. Yeah, I get it, any defense of Lego isn't welcome here in this anti-Lego pity party you folks want to throw. Oh, and it's also not cool to complain about complaining, yet that's the bulk of what goes on in this thread. And sorry if Darthleech can't see the logic in anything yet feels the need to comment on every single page. When grown men come here to say they're going to stop buying Lego for themselves and their children because they aren't getting the little plastic people that they demand, don't you think that's going too far? Every. Single. Sign has pointed towards Lego building out to at least 3 waves. And it's just pitiful the amount of whining people are doing here because their top picks weren't in wave 2. It's not confirmed as cancelled, for starters, and even still, they gave us a lot to begin with, so the hatred people are throwing Lego's way is really unjustified. Oooh, that makes me a Lego apologist! Whatever. Lego has done far more good for me than any one of you have. The point is, you people want to concentrate on Lego's faults, even unconfirmed rumors of fault, rather than celebrating what they've done right. I still hope for the best, but you lot are the biggest bunch of petulant whiney children I've ever encountered! Honestly, if I worked for Lego I'd be sure to NEVER intereact with the fans due to the pure sense of entitlement you guys have! So hey, you guys keep whining page after page after page about Gondorian soldiers, etc, like it hasn't already been talked to death over the last few scores of pages! Keep repeating yourself page after page just to try to sound like some kind of expert, when you're really just blowing smoke. You people sure get viscious when someone disagrees with you. Enjoy your ignorant pity party! It's sad how you always have so much to say yet so little of it has meaning. Mouth of Sauron is a visually interesting villain with more appeal than Eowyn to Lego's target market. You know, the main demographic for Lego, kids too young to have even seen LOTR in the theaters and likely only through the DVD's. That was a great set to get out a King Aragorn figure, with lots of play appeal to the kids. I don't think the kids are demanding an Eowyn. But, here's where your logic completely FAILS you: I never said they didn't plan on getting to Eowyn eventually! So stow your holier-than-thou attitude. I only come off "much worse" because I dare to disagree with you, and point out the massive gaps in your questionable "logic". You fail to see any point I make as being anything more than Lego apologism. You want to bash Lego but seem to feel entitled to talk all you want and get chuffed when someone dares disagree with you. Do you actually have things worth saying or do you just want to be seen on every page in this thread? I think you really ought to take a break from posting constantly in this thread and go get some perspective.

Thanks for contributing to the topic, oh wait. You didn't. But we can let it get back to the "blame Lego", "Lego makes NO sense" and "gimme gimme gimme or I quit" thread that it was, if you prefer.

OMG. It's....almost....as if.....Lego were saving something for future waves! As if, perhaps, they wanted to actually make money off their investments? And for an 18 and older site, there is a ton of immature tantrum throwing going on. Again, there are a few voices of reason mixed in here, but there are plenty of others drowning them out with hollow threats and whining. "Wah, I hate everything Lego does, and if they don't give me wave 3, I quit" Ugh. Uh, hey genius, it's the fact that you complain how it "doesn't make sense". Sorry if you want to focus so hard on the word "some". Maybe you should read both our posts again?

Because Lego is a business, and it makes more sense that you'll buy a set for the important characters, rather than trying to sell people a set filled with unimportant characters. And since Lego is a business, they are also trying to leave reasons for people to buy future sets. Funny how you seem to comment on virtually every page in this thread yet know so little about Lego's marketing strategies.

    LEGO LotR - general discussion

Because. IF you want to build an "Evergreen" property, you don't put out everything all at once. You "build the brand". I know I wanted the King and Army of the Dead at some point as well as Mouth of Sauron. Would the call have been as strong for them if they saved those for last? Probably not. People are still wanting Gondorians, Eowyn, Faramir, etc, so therefore it makes sense that it would be a strong seller in whatever wave it's in. So, spreading it out keeps fans coming back. This is what EVERY toy line does. What happens some times is that lines don't take off like companies hope, and we're left with unproduced wish lists. It sounds as if even the first wave of LOTR didn't sell as well as Lego had hoped. IF that's the case, nothing else we want would have sold as well. That first wave was incredibly solid and gave us the bulk of the main LOTR cast! If Frodo, Aragorn, Gimli, etc can't sell as well, what chance does Faramir and Eowyn have? Many people here are gnashing their teeth and making demands based on what THEY want. What we want and what succeeds at retail is not always the same! You can't retire the Fellowship after one wave, you have to keep them available to newcomers. So Gimli & Frodo make sense in the Council of Elrond set, as much as we would have all preferred all new figures. Lego is a business, not a charity.

Sigh. ALL 9 Fellowship members, Saruman, Lurtz, Ringwraiths, Grima Wormtongue, Theoden, Haldir, Eldrond, Arwen. Also, Shelob, Orthanc, Helms Deep, Weathertop. Nope. Lego didn't give us anything important at all. No, it "doesn't make sense" to you people because you fail to understand. That's like saying Calculus or Algebra "makes no sense" because YOU fail to understand it. Just because you don't like or don't agree with something does not mean it doesn't "make sense". What you kids fail to realize is that EVERY toy company has to hold something back for a future wave. You know exactly why you don't get the fellowship ALL in one set, but spread out over the wave, yet can't even see the rationale between their other choices? Maybe you guys can count up all of the individual posters in this thread, and realize that Lego needs to sell to more than just that number to be profitable. They aren't teasing or tormenting you, they are trying to make a profitable approach to delivering what we AND the general public is willing to buy.

No, my argument was to look at what Lego HAS already given you, not what else is coming next. But then for you, and all you other whiners, WHO CARES if you're "starting a new dark age"?? What, are you bargaining with Lego that if they make the last remaining major figures, you'll buy other themes when they are done with LOTR after future waves? No, you're saying you're going to quit anyway, and throwing a childish tantrum in the meantime. Bottom line, what you're saying is you're going to quit Lego anyway, be it now or after a 3rd wave of LOTR. Unless, of course, you're full of it and being overly dramatic, or else you think you'll find a new Lego theme you don't hate as much if you get a 3rd LOTR wave? So, WHY should Lego care what you think? Is Lego supposed to support a line that doesn't make them as much money just to scrape a few bucks out of someone who's going to quit altogether after they get their way? Poor baby, you have "nothing left to buy". Be thankful for what you already own. And your complaint abour POTC is ridiculous as well. They knew they weren't going to be able to keep making sets due to poor sales, but they gave us Davy Jones instead of waiting to make a Flying Dutchman. You poor, poor starving people with your glasses half empty!!

Seriously???? You people really think Lego is purposefully teasing you??? So, Lego has risen to the #2 Toymaker in the world by intentionally tormenting it's fans? Get a grip, people! Did you ever in your life expect to even have the Fellowship in Lego? Do you really need to be so whiny if you don't get everything you want produced? There are a few reasonable voices here, but the overwhelming ones keep spouting negativity and childishness. No, Lego is not "teasing" you. Come to your senses.

    [Review] The Millennium Falcon Microfighter

The difference between the A-Wing brown pants and the microfighter blue is that Han wore brown pants in ROTJ, and blue in ANH. What I'm curious to see is if this new microfighter Han is the same version we will get in the upcoming 2014 Cantina.

Ungrateful much? Do you need to get everything you want in life to be happy with what you already have? I'll be sad to see a lot of LOTR unmade in Lego, but I'm not about to whine like a child and threaten to give up when I can't get what I want. Are you going to ban your children from playing with Lego too when you can't get your way? Sorry that you take it so unbelievably personally that you feel Lego is insulting you by not creating specific toys for your grown self to play with. Get a grip. It's one thing to vote with your wallet, but it's another to publicly cry if you don't get your way. If LOTR is over, I'm happy to at least have the Fellowship in Lego form. Everything else is just gravy. Lego has done great so far giving us a ton of LOTR awesomeness. There's no definite answer that the line has ended. When it does end, there will surely be figures that are unmade. It's ridiculous to disregard what we have in favor of what we don't have. It would have been worse to have only gotten 8 or less of the Fellowship and been forever incomplete. We should be thanking Lego for what we have so far, not throwing tantrums.
