Tim_AZ Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 I've been on a bit of a Mars binge lately and this is one of the projects I'm working on. The technology for this exists today but it is unlikely to develop until the resources on Mars can be processed locally. The engine is fueled by carbon dioxide and magnesium powder suspended in nitrogen gas. Once ignited the reaction strips the oxygen molecules from the CO2 leaving only magnesium oxide behind. Of course, with such a thin atmosphere you're going to need a lot more wing area this this has but let's not get too bogged down in details. https://imgur.com/CSIA168 Quote
GeoBrick Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 That's a beauty. Have you given it a name/designation? "Lightning" (after the WWII fighter) comes to mind. Quote
Gene T Turberville Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Cool. The plane looks like a real one. Quote
Lego David Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 I'd change the color of the cockpit to trans ornage, in order to match the Mars color scheme better. Quote
Glassjaw Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 Looking good, nice colour scheme and the shaping is wonderful, very sleek. The tail is fantastic. Quote
