Lynne raises her oak staff to the air in triumph before brining it back down, clearly excited by the victory.

"We did it! And that felt... suprisingly good.

See, Polly, was that so bad? And... Good job out there, Leofwin."

Lynne turns to adress the captain.

"Is Dastan approaching?"

Slowly, but surely, the trade cog crept closer to the Dastanese shoreline. In the distance the Heroes could make out a settlement which craddled next to the mouth of the run that ran up to Lake Glaz.

"Ladies and gentleman, may I welcome you to Port Glazmouth. We will go no further from here, this is our stop. Here, we shall unload our goods which will then be carried further into the Empire by local merchants."

"First off, I thank you again for services provided. As promised, here is a payment of 7 Gold each. I do not know where your travels may take you, but this being a trading port, I'm sure you'll find an opportunity to stock up on items before you leave."

"You can always drop by our trade offices here in Glazmouth, if you happen to need any assistance, friends of the Hinckwells. Goodbye."

glazmouth_zpsb23eaff7.jpg

The Hinckwells started unloading with the help of local workers and the Heroes left the captain to his work. The air was hot and even a bit dry. The trade port itself was bustling with people, but it was no Eubric, of course.

"We need to go to Farrech, which is way to the North. Perhaps we can find some transportation here? We could always walk, but it's a really long walk..."

"I'm up for a little shopping too." Polly took out her growing pile of gold and gazed at it with a grin plastered across her childish face. The girl pulled her bear in tight to her.

"Just think of all the fun stuff we can buy with this, Mr. Sanders."

Lynne looks around the Dastanese port, a look of amazement on her brow.

"Huh... Guess there's more than Eubric to the world.

Yes, lets go shopping. I think I'll need a tonic or two for the road ahead."

QM Note: Pics will follow later.

Much to the Heroes' surprise, Port Glazmouth actually had very little shops. Many foreign merchant companies had offices in the city and there were plenty of warehouses to store goods. Port Glazmouth served as a transshipment location, where goods were taken from one ship and put on transport deeper into Dastan. There was little opportunity for some actual shopping like you had in Eubric. The marketplace and trade district was where the big players spent their coin, buying in bulk with the purpose of then reselling.

It took the Heroes a while before they found a small shop that did serve their smaller needs.

A bit disappointed by the inventory, the party purchases some goods that could help them stand against whatever was yet to come.

"Im good. Oh, do you knowst where Farreth ist?"

av_merchant_zps851b2436.png

"Farreth...? I'm sure you mean Farrech. It's the northernmost settlement before you enter Dastan's Northern March. You'd best look for some transportation from here. Going there on foot would be folly. You'd probably die of old age before you got there!", the merchant chuckled.

"Would you have any reccomendations on how to get there? You wouldn't happen to know some caravan men or something that could take us there, would you?"

They still used carvans nowadays, right? She was still trying to get to the new vernacular.

av_merchant_zps851b2436.png

"I'm sure there are caravans heading there, but I think it'd be easier if you just booked a ride from a station in the city here. Caravan's come and go at irregular times, you see."

"I trust the stations are safe? And the routes?"

av_merchant_zps851b2436.png

"Quite safe, yes. The routes are often used, so only foolish brigands would try to steal from the travellers. Even now, with the slight turmoil in Dastan and the lower number of military patrols guarding the routes, they are still a very safe means of travel. And you all look like you can defend yourselves, so I wouldn't fear."

"Stations, what are those?"

"...I have to second this... Stations for what?"

av_merchant_zps851b2436.png

"Stations, stables, waypoints,... whatever you want to call them. These are services on the outskirts of Port Glazmouth that will take you anywhere in the Empire. There are many different kinds. Those that rent horses, those who take you to your destination in a cart or carriage."

"With an Empire the size of Dastan, you're bound to have some means of transportation in every town or city. Not all are wealthy enough to own their own horse, aepyorni, camel or carriage to take them places."

"Thank you very mcuh for the information - you've been a lot of help."

Lynne eyes her brand new tonic, wondering if it would be the difference between life or death in one of the battles that were sure to come.

"Can you point us in the direction of the nearest one?"

av_merchant_zps851b2436.png

"Sure I can! Just just follow this street until you get to the edge of town. There you'll see some stables. They're owned by Dzahr, he can take you wherever you want."

QM Note: The weather's been really lousy around here, so I didn't get the chance to take most pictures like I wanted. The next few updates will probably be without them. I'll add them later. The sets are all made, but my photography setup really sucks without good sunlight :sceptic: .
