I apologize for being late... I was busy tending the hull.. The thought of a breach makes me shudder.

While we are on the topic of a lynch, I want to make something clear for the future of our time in the deep blue sea. I am a miller. I am loyal, but for whatever reason when somebody investigates me, I would show up as a spy. I'm bringing this up now to prevent further confusion should a report incriminating me come up, and to save us some time when keeping in mind these reports in the future, so we don't lose any townies.

I'm going to read things a bit more thoroughly and post my thoughts shortly.

It seems people haven't posted anything more than First-24-Hour fluff. Speak up, people! We can't get anywhere if you don't!

As for what has already been said, there isn't really enough substance in people's posts that make me feel super suspicious of anybody. Nothing sticks out to me in particular other than people still making fluff posts after voting began, but that's not necessarily scummy.

It's pretty hard to say something when there's nothing new to discuss. One of good things about having a gimmick in a game is that it gives people something to talk about other than submarine jokes.

Anyway, we have to get this thing started somewhere:

Vote: Malcolm (Mencot)

Nobody's saying anything much, but Malcolm is working hard to say nothing to every person here. It might be that he's fluffier than most, but it might be that he wants to look super busy up front to keep his name off the voting list.

I'm curious as to the reason behind your possibly showing up as a spy, but if what you say is true, thank you for being up front with it. It also helps us get away from the fluff and onto true discussion. I look forward to hearing more of your thoughts.

Wondering what you're looking for here - a reason within the game (ie explanation from the role pm) or not understanding what a miller is? By definition a miller is what Trevor stated. A loyal American that'll falsely appear as a spy if investigated. Claiming that immediately is a common strategy, though it runs a risk of getting vig killed or lynched to test the claim. But I guess if you DON'T claim and get investigated, you're guaranteed to get lynched....

It was the early claiming that surprised me, but it does aid the town by avoiding a town lynch if/when his story checks out.

Gotcha, but like I said, immediate claim is very common for millers. So now we have to decide - is he telling the truth, or is he a spy trying to use a miller claim to hide his scumminess? Trevor is definitely an experienced sailor, so he could be playing either way.

Also I'm looking to hear from Jerry, Boris, Claire.... you've been very quiet....

And back to Trevor, you really played the "I'm gonna go re-read and post my thoughts in a while" card this early? It's day one and only like 20 posts had been made to that point, all fluff...

For now Trevor, I'm willing to accept a miller claim and look for more promising suspects, but we'll see how the days go...

Well, that's interesting. If you really are a miller, thanks for coming out with it early on.

It was the early claiming that surprised me, but it does aid the town by avoiding a town lynch if/when his story checks out.

There was no real reason not to. The scum don't profit from the information, and since the town had nothing else to talk about at the moment, it didn't distract.

So far, there's nobody who's been standing out to me. But since we need a majority to lynch somebody, I suppose we can't really afford to waste much time if we want to reach a consensus today.

I'm willing to accept the claim as well - ultimately, claiming earlier just helps the town, as well as being something of an obligation of a miller. The fact that he claims now instead of after an investigation makes me more liable to believe him.

I never played a card. I honestly had just checked the thread for the first time. Occasionally some fluff sticks out more than others. It's always worth checking and my first post was mostly to clarify things after I saw we had reached the 24 hour mark. Read into that how you'd like.

Regardless, I'm going to wait a little bit until people are much more vocal for me to place a vote, and see if Malcolm has anything to add.

I too will accept the miller claim by Trevor, for now. We really don't have anything to go at this point. As people become more vocal maybe something will stick out as scummy.

Posted

While I agree with Spencer about Malcolm's fluffy words, I think a miller claim is pretty suspicious. Even more suspicious is the fact that quite a few people seem to accept it right away. Seems scummy to me, and it's possible that Trevor was counting on the population to consider his early claim too audacious to be scummy. That or his scum buddies are spreading his deceit. Or a little bit of both.

Either way, I'd like to remove all doubt.

Vote: Trevor (TrumptKing)

An interesting claim this early in Day One, but I have no reason to doubt it yet. It could either be a ploy to appear innocent when he's investigated or he could be genuine about it.

I don't know about Malcom. He's always like this in most of the other games we play on the submarine, I'm not sure I'd believe he's acting any differently now. As for fluffy posts that have no substance, I'd like to put forward another candidate:

Vote: Monty Thornton (Mostlytechnic)

Calling people out for not talking, no real conversation additions in his posts, and he's posting an awful lot to make himself look active.

Vote Tally

Monty Thornton (mostlytechnic): 1 (Bob)

Trevor Knowles (TrumpetKing): 1 (JimBee)

Malcolm Cooper (Mencot): 1(Speedy)

38 hours remain in the day!

Um, so you let Malcolm off but vote for me for the exact same thing, when I am like this in every single game on the sub too? Seems fishy to me...

I appreciate the pun at the end there, but I don't really see you like this in other games. Perhaps it's that I haven't really noticed you in other games.

What's all this nonsense about games? We're in a crisis at the bottom of the ocean, no time for games.

I for one find it highly suspicious that anyone would mention playing "other games".

So you really think a scumbum with not a word of suspicion thrown on them would draw that much attention to themselves? It seems pretty unlikely to me. I'd estimate a 90% chance he's telling the truth. At the least, he's a poor day one lynch.

Early claims without any pressure to force them out are usually true. What if he was scum, but there was another miller (we've seen millers before here)? That miller could just step up and nail him. Pretty risky in a situation with so few of us. No, he's probably town.

Well that's probably just what he's thinking. He's aware that there's an investigator out there - if he is scum or a spy, he knows he'll draw the first investigation to himself and use the claim thereafter. If he is scum that's an easy way to start an infiltrated town block.

I don't like the fact that he's claiming to be undoubtedly town before anyone can do or say anything.

Why would the investigator waste their action on someone who has already said they'll come up scum? How does that get him in a town block? Who would claim to him for claiming miller?

I don't like the fact that he's claiming to be undoubtedly town before anyone can do or say anything.

How did he claim to be undoubtedly town? Did I miss something? He just made a role claim, that could be countered if he were lying, which is risky.

Nothing you're saying adds up, unless you were scum, and knew he was town... Hmm.

Posted

How does that not add up? He's claiming to come up as Spy if investigated - so there's no way to tell if he really is or not and he'll use the fact that he mentioned it early as a defense.

Yes there has been the day 1 beginning of the day fluff, roleplaying. And one other thing in sub has been the quietness, many has said just one comment. Okay (not ok-ey) I have said some so far but yea not much of content. That is my kind of game on the first 24-30 hrs in day 1. And it is hard to go on something when it is this quiet. But I guess it will become better now when more speak up.

Okay (not ok-ey) trevor had a miller claim and I guess there is not much to do then to observate him but as known of miller role that is the smartest thing to do, claim up front.

How does that not add up? He's claiming to come up as Spy if investigated - so there's no way to tell if he really is or not and he'll use the fact that he mentioned it early as a defense.

Yea, as said that is the smartest move to do if miller. But that doesn´t mean we trust him with everything. That would be stupied, he has still got to prove himself and work for the effort, right!

If anyone else feels like voting, by all means, the time is now. Including Malcolm.

Thank you Spencer, I still try to figure out whom seems the most scum... for a day 1 lynch. Is it the One who claims miller (don´t think so), One that vote for someone who says fluff (mmm) or one that says one comment, votes in next comment based on fluff and in 3rd comment calls the person out to vote (HMMM) Yea not much to go on but what I know I will be watching you spencer (speedy) because I know your type, you are an human "manipulator" :sarcasm:

But on day one, especially when it is quiet like this the best way is to call someone out. But I wanna call everyone out in this sub, everyone are That quiet!
