I would like to submit to your attention our realizations: the Sodor railways built by me and my son Eros (6 years old) who has painted the faces of Harvey and Gordon and the background too.

Wow. These look good. Really looking forward to seeing some more detailed pics. I have been a huge fan of "The Railway Series" since I was a kid. Owned all the orignal 42 Railway Series books and all sorts of models and hulabaloo. Didn't appreciate the TV moving away from the original content though.

I must agree with Paperballpark's question about Brickshelf. I was late to this game of posting online and have never used Brickshelf. I started with Mocpages until it was almost unusable then switched to Flickr which in my experience is so much more friendly. Easier to navigate and you can comment.

These do a great job capturing the essence of the original artwork also neat to see your use of old 4.5v train parts.

I can't speak for monai, but I do it out of nostalgia. There is some good history from the early days of internet MOC sharing on brickshelf, back when it was the only place you could find MOC pictures (meanwhile, can you believe they used to only have 3 television stations?). Not for everyone though, that's for sure.

Not reachable by NSA? Eurobricks is an internet site isn't it? And I guess you still have a bankcard etc.

I don't understand what you mean exactly with coming along, they are put on a table with a painted (by my son) background which should describe the Island of Sodor.

By the way some galleries are not yet open to the public.

flickr on a mobile device is terrible. Imgur is much better designed for simple image uploading.

Let me say we mean LEGO as a way to exercise our fantasy, not a religion, if necessary we modify and paint the pieces, as you can see.

We have been influenced by the realizations of: Ulimy http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=ulimy (unfortunately still down), and Brickjournal n.6 pag.38.

I for one really like your models, as they have a classic LEGO feel abut them (Especially the Bertie the bus). I think you and your son are doing a wonderful job with the Island of Sodor, and the background in the first picture is very good for a 6 year old!

You remind me of why I started building my UK models in the first place: to sort-of replicate the wooden models of my childhood in LEGO, albeit with my own twist.

Keep it up, and maybe you will be called a Really Useful Engine!

By The way: They need an official LEGO Railway Series theme in System scale!

Besides Duplo, there has never been a Thomas & Freinds / Railway Series theme in LEGO. "System" means not Duplo (or the older Modulex & Quatro lines), but the good old brick we have known and loved since the 1950's.

there is a lot of confusion in the community about the exact scale for trains: for me the only way is to follow the model railway community which measures the gauge, 38mm/1435mm = 1:38 scale. That said the problems arise: the wheel are not in scale, moreover their shape is not that of a real train.

So the question is: are we modelling in scale or modelling for pure fantasy fun? and the answer is: both are possible, for Sodor the fantasy fun is mandatory, for the wonderfull realizations of many others (Tony Sava or Ulimy) the scale modelling can be maintaned only for selected themes.

Hallo, I've posted on MOCpages the images aof another MOC, an express train. It was a project about a 8studs wide 12v express train with shared trolleys, the project has not gone over a first attempt, but it was interesting for the technique used for the cars connections. They are not only able to pivot but also to basculate in order to negotiate the ramps, and it was achieved using hinges as links. Perhaps for someone could be an interesting idea.
