Norrington Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 You're obsessed with that ride aren't you? Yes, I am. And there are people more obsessed. But that's not the point. The point is, you can brainstorm PotC set ideas... Quote
Scouty Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Yes, but it's highly unlikely Lego would do a series after a ride. "I'd rather see Pirates [an original line, too] come back first than something else." Quote

Yeah, they probably wouldn't, but Pirates of the Caribbean has world-wide popularity, after all, it's in 4 theme parks all over the world (soon to be 5) Oh yeah? Who? :-P The makers of Tell No Tales.com are, for starters. The makers of Tell No Tales.com also created "Doom Buggies.com", about the Haunted Mansion. As you can see, I am no where near as in love with these classic examples of Disney Imagineering as these people are. I just like to visit them and learn about them. Even at that, have you ever seen Lego do a set (series) after a ride? Quote
Asuka Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 It can't be healthy. Much better than smoking pipe and drinking rum all the time or that Teletubbies-thing I guess.... :-D Anyways, TLC, just bring on some pirates, wherever they Quote
Norrington Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 *AHEM* Crituiqing what I like to do on rainy days is not the point of this thread. Jeez... Quote
oo7 Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Maybe it's raining in Maple Plain, but not in Hobart, Pittsburgh, Vienna, or Briarcliff Manor! ;-) (?) Do you seriously believe a little boat ride at Disneyland is a good central focus of an official LEGO product line, Commodore? Quote
Norrington Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 Do you seriously believe a little boat ride at Disneyland is a good central focus of an official LEGO product line, Commodore? "Little Boat Ride"?! :( Why I never. The ride could have meny different sets, similar to SW's Expanded Universe. Just, more advetures to the pirates in the ride. Quote

Norrington Posted June 12, 2007 Author Posted June 12, 2007 (edited) I'm only aware of Disneyland and Disneyworld, where are the other 2 soon to be 3?Do you think the creators of this website would be interested in a Pirates of the Carribean LEGO theme? 1. There are : DisneyLand, Walt Disney World, DisneyLand Paris, DisneyLand Tokyo, and in 2010 it will be added to DisneyLand Hong-Kong. DisneyLand is the original, Disney World only has "Dead Man's Cove" and "Hurrican Lagoon" in the Grotto, and no "Blue Bayou". In addition, WDW has a different ending, "The Treasure Room" Tokyo is the same as Disneyland, just missing "The Captain's Qaurters" in the grotto, and Paris is redone. In the sense of the story line in reverse. You see the pirates sacking the town first, then you see the grotto. 2. Perhaps. I browsed their forums quickly and someone proposed to build the attraction in lego. There were alot of comments, possitive. So maybe. Perhaps I'll join-up and post an exact copy of this thread and a link to the thread. Who knows. --EDIT-- Allrighty, you scally-wags. I posted a topic at Tell No Tales.com, which can be veiwed here: http://p104.ezboard.com/ftellnotalesfrm10....picID=236.topic Edited June 12, 2007 by Norrington Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 19, 2007 Governor Posted June 19, 2007 How many of these Pirates of the Caribbean rides have you been on Mr Norrington? Quote
TwistedDreams Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 I'm not going to lie to you, They would NEED a good Black Pearl Ship and a good Interceptor ship. Because honestly, I think they would make sets from the movie over sets from the ride. But still great ideas there Norrington. -TD Quote
Norrington Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 (edited) How many of these Pirates of the Caribbean rides have you been on Mr Norrington? Only the Walt Disney Wolrd version, which is drasticly shortened. I am going to the DisneyLand version this summer hopefully. As for the WDW version: It wasn't going to be there originaly. It was added at the last minute, so they had to shorten it because if it was as long as DisneyLand it would elimintae about 5 other big attractions. I have a book about it called "Pirates of the Caribbean: From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies." Plus, it is the first ride I ever remember going on at Disney World, so it's special to me. I also remember "It's a Small World"... vividly :-P Edited June 19, 2007 by Norrington Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 20, 2007 Governor Posted June 20, 2007 How was the Walt Disney World version drastically shortened? Quote
Maedhros Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Well, I for one think that in the very unlikely event that LEGO would base something on a ride it would be on the awesome Pirate ride at LEGOland Billund... you should go there, Norrington :-$ Quote
Norrington Posted June 20, 2007 Author Posted June 20, 2007 Here it how it's shortened in outline format A) The Blue Bayou is gone, and there is only 1 drop thanks to florida's high water level. B)The grotto is missing: 1)The Crew's qaurters 2)The Captain's qaurters 3)The Treasure Room C)The town is the same up to the Jail Scene, where the arsenal scene is replaced by a room full of treasure and pirates shooting at each other. This scene was replaced with Jack-Hole Sparrow in the room singing "Yo-ho Yo-ho, a pirate's life for me" Quote
SirNadroj Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 I do hear that Disney World's Potc vs. Disneyland's are conspicuously different. I hear the drop in Disneyland is better than disney world's, too. As for the line of Lego products, if TLC were to make them, I would buy them in a heart-beat, but that won't happen. Lego would have to get the license, and Mega Bloks already has the license for the movie. I have an extra red ship hull. When I'm done with my other ship the Armageddon, should I whip up a Wicked Wench, or should I make another ship off the top of my head? Quote
Norrington Posted June 20, 2007 Author Posted June 20, 2007 (edited) Nadroj- Actully, the ride and movie are seperate liscences. That's why in the PotC rehab where they added movie characters, they didn't douse the Wicked Wench in black paint and call the Black Pearl. The movie wrighters hold the liscences for the movie characters, plots, and ships, while the Walt Disney Company holds it for the movies (the movies themselves, not the charcters), and the ride. Therefore, the writers need to give Disney permission, or else they can't do it... Or so I've read. The flume is no different in WDW and Dl. Only WDW only has 1 drop, and DL has 2, and DL has an upramp where people are carried up in a Bateux, and WDW stops and peple go up a type of escelator. Try the "Wench"! I tried a couple months ago, but I ran out of peices half way through, and couldn't build the stern castle or the f'o'c'stle. Only the begining of the stern where the Captain is and the place where the gunners are. Maedhros- You've said that before, but this is just hopeing. The ride at Billund was based on the Pirate Line, and so creating a line based on a ride based on a previous line would not be very good, just the same as before. No? Norrington Posted June 22, 2007 Author Posted June 22, 2007 Two drops are better than one, right? ;-) Yes, but it's no nescacary or possible at WDW. DisneyLand needed to get under the berm, while Disney World didn't need any, and even then they could only have one. So in essentials, the flume factor is the same. Quote
