Hi, i am new here but been building Lego all my life.

I am after some buying advice please, i can't decide between these sets:

1. 42030 - Volvo L350F Wheel Loader

2. 8258 - Crane Truck

3. 8285 - Tow Truck

Im looking for good all round functions and not too fussed about MOCs and parts. Just looking for a good build with lots of motors and/or pneumatics, something nice and big and does lots.

I already have sets like the Crane MKII 42009 and Unimog 8110 and budget is £170.

Would like something brand new and boxed though, which i know some of the sets might be hard to find. Any advice is much appreciated.

Many thanks

I'll also recomend number one, but first decide which kind of MOCs do you want to make. If you don't like machinery you will have too much yellow. If you are going to keep the set built go for 42030.

42030 I think is a great set in many ways, I enjoyed the build and its functions all work well. Being RC it is easy to play with as well.

8258 nice set but limited in what you can do with it, lacks a trailer or deck to load onto is motorised but manual operation of the controls and its a push pull model.

8285 another nice set very similar to 8258 but even harder to find. Great looks but also limited playability.

8258 is great and very recommenable but brand new and with unopend box it is quite impossible to find for 170 pound (~ 214€) - here you have to calculate with about >= 250€ or you have to be very patient...

8285 looks good but it is quite boring in all other aspects...

42030 is a great PF pack for a fair price with good playability and crappy (because jerky) steering and (very) boring build...

but if it has to be brand new and if it should be unopened and if it should be one of these three sets then i would indeed recommend the new 42030 - at least if for you is RC and a lot of PF-elements very important... if you are looking for an interesting build then you should try to catch a 8258 (used but near mint condition with box and BI you can get between 120 to 180€)
