Samed5 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 I hope they don't add a new ninja. It would be strange if they added a sixth one, since we've grown so used to the ninja team we have right now. Also, I hope that in 2015 they'll bring back the inventor side of Jay. It was kind of written out by the introduction of characters such as Dr. Julien and Cyrus Borg. Quote
Mandate Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 As a reminder, there was no new Ninja announced at SDCC, just someone (or someones or something) else that has elemental powers. Nothing specifically. Thus the Ninja (the ones that we know and love) discover that they are not the only ones who know Spinjitzu. I was thinking that if Zane was rebuilt he would still be white and that the Titanium Dragon belongs to the new ninja mentioned at comic con. This new colour of ninja could have joined the team after being inspired by Zane and how he saved Ninjago from the Overlord. He may not be an actual titanium ninja but may just wear a silver outfit in honour of Zane. But also, it is possible that there is no new ninja character as it was mentioned that there will be a 'new colour of ninja' not a 'new ninja', in which case Zane will most likely change to silver. Might want to spoiler-ize your post, that first sentence is a dead-giveaway to events of Episode 34. I'm fairly certain the new ninja will be PIXAL, but "new color of ninja" can work either way when it comes to *ahem* changes *ahem* such as this. I doubt that the Titanium Dragon would be for the new ninja. So far the "dragons" have corresponded to who owns them, eg, the Fire dragon (Flame) belongs to the ninja of fire, the Earth dragon (Rocky) belongs to ninja of earth, Ultra-Dragon "belonged" (so to speak) to Lloyd as the Green Ninja, and the Golden Dragon belonged to Lloyd as the Golden Ninja. Hence the "Titanium Dragon" would belong to "The Titanium Ninja". Given that Borg revealed who the Titanium Ninja was, it's only logical that that ninja would also ride the Titanium Dragon. One final thing I've noticed. The Fold (man, it's sad that they're basically "The NINJAGO band" now) 's Instagram tag said "What new suits?". Kind of strange really, when you roll that over in your mind a few times. It's a question, not a statement. And even if it was a statement, the "what" at the front turns it into a question. It's asking, "what new suits?". Maybe the new outfits for the ninja aren't specifically ninja suits this time around, and perhaps they won't feature any "hood". Ridiculous, I know, and it's probably over-analyzing a tag, but it's just something interesting that I noticed (oh, and if you zoom in on the pic, you can make out a forest/jungle). Quote

Also, I wonder if the Titanium Dragon will be a living dragon like the fire dragon, ultra dragon etc., or if it will be more robotic like the Mechdragon, with it being made from titanium. It'll be made of metal. While it's hinted at that there are more dragons than just the four (five/six/seven, depending on if you count the Ultra Dragon as a seperate entity [which you shouldn't] and the Golden Dragon and MechDragon as "dragons"), we have yet to see a female dragon. At least presumably all of the dragons are male, anyway. Flame and Rocky are male, at least, and I couldn't be bothered to get out Volume 1 of Season 2 to check if Wisp is, and the books are virtually pointless given how many retcons we get. The major question now is what the ?????? set is. PIXAL is likely to be coupled with Zane, although I hope Zane will have figured out what his heart was made out of, so that we can stop it with the "requirement" thing PIXAL still has her half, it's very plot-relevant At the very least there's no full way to predict any basic outline of the new plot other than some very shaky assumptions. After the insane nature of the Rebooted plot, with how far it deviated from traditional story-telling and to more of an episodic model, telling the story in chapters as small adventures in a bigger adventure. Although I've pinned down why The Void was so disappointing as an episode, there was no build-up or major suspense at the end, in stark contrast to Rise of The Great Devourer, or Return of The Overlord. Anyway, I suggest we move plot discussion to the TV show thread. This is starting to get super off-topic (and it's my fault ). Regarding the sets, I'm wondering how Lava Falls and Jungle Predators are going to come out. They sound the most interesting of the "hero" sets (after the Mechdragon I think we know a bit of what to expect out of the Titanium Dragon). Quote

Based on their price points, they look to be impulse sets. Might even be bagged sets...? Probably just some small landscape scenes with a minifig. I would assume Kai with Lava Falls and Lloyd with the Jungle set. Quote

Mandate Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 They aren't Spinners, and I can confirm that from prior experience. Spinners in AZ/NZ cost aprox. $20 if memory serves me correctly, these are definitely impulses now that you mention it. At any rate the amount of sets has confirmed that NINJAGO Rebooted was a success, which probably means more rebooted themes in future, if BIONICLE doesn't serve as any reminder (arguably BIONICLE's reboot was in development before NINJAGO's, but NINJAGO was brought back earlier and in a smaller timeframe) Quote
Dorayaki Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 (edited) As a reminder, there was no new Ninja announced at SDCC, just someone (or someones or something) else that has elemental powers. Nothing specifically. According to this, there will be a 'new colour of ninja', either a new character or an existing character who's colour has changed. Something disturbing is that, the colors are added, but do the elemental powers are added too? The powers used to be tied with colors at first, but it seems like the plot has to abolish this rule now. Fanons like to create a new ninja with both new powers and new colors, but as long as there are still only four powers in this story, it unlikely happens. I'd also like to see PIXAL as a ninja since she could reuse the elemental pwer from Zane. But that sentence sounds like "the ninjas meet a stranger they've never met before". If there is just a new character, in a marketing view TLG might not introduce a girl ninja. If the new ninja learn all four powers just like Lloyd, his Golden Ninja title might be gone. Or maybe the new character would use another legendary title instead. Another way to explain this is there are many other ninjas (more than four at least) who learn the four elemental powers as well. But then, they would keep the four basic colors, not one new color. Edited September 2, 2014 by Dorayaki Quote
Mandate Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Actually eight powers. Fire, Earth, Ice, Lightning, Creation, Destruction, Green and finally Gold. Green and Creation are closer to each other than the rest, except that it's exclusive to Lloyd. Since Garmadon is good, we have no character filling the "destruction" part (no Protagonist will, presumably). The Overlord doesn't really count as the only time he could be classed as destruction was when he possessed Garmadon for a brief period of time. Regarding what you said about a "stranger", no. The statements made about elements and ninja were different, not necessarily exclusive from one another but never implied to be coupled. I think we're done with characters "finding" their element for the time being. Anyway, this is really getting off-topic now. But regarding elemental powers, without a new McGuffin to drive the plot, we're done with Elemental Powers for the time being (excluding whatever they have planned) Quote
Chimaninja454 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Do NinjaGo sell better than Legends of Chima? Quote
PenPlays Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) Do NinjaGo sell better than Legends of Chima? It's generally accepted that they do. No official and/or specific numbers have been released. Originally when Chima was released, I rarely saw product move until the show picked up (but that's from my point of view). Ninjago however has been more of a phenomenon. Even from the start, I remember Spinner sets only days after released being on back-order. (I've never seen NRG Jay in the flesh to this day!) Let's not forget that "The Final Battle" wave seemed to be the last, but demand (daily phone calls if I remember correctly) simply wouldn't have it. You will also notice that most stores rarely have sales on Ninjago, whereas Chima would specifically be advertised as "on sale." However, it is important to note that, even though Chima has not had the same success as Ninjago, it still sells as well as a normal theme (one without a TV show to back it up). Hence the reason why it has lasted this long (besides the fact that the story bible for Chima has three years of material. Edited September 9, 2014 by Penkid11 Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) I'm a bit worried about the set list. Back when Exo-Force went into the Jungle, was right around when the sets began to lose steam* and be cancelled before the story was finished. Not saying that that's going to happen, but we should keep that in mind when we're deciding whether or not to buy sets because of price/content - this line might having severe impact on the future of the theme as a whole, and if it doesn't sell well, it may well mark the beginning of the ending of the theme**. *The first loss of steam really happened with the Golden City line, but Jungle didn't help any(despite the mini-mechs being a very cool idea.). **It's going to end someday or other, but Bionicle lasted a good 10 years before it ended. Themes don't have to be standard to be evergreen, just well-selling. Edited September 9, 2014 by Lind Whisperer Quote

Themes don't have to be standard to be evergreen, just well-selling. I hope not, but it could be a number of factors that caused Exo-Force to be discontinued and not just the "jungle" element... Bionicle was set on a tropical island in 2001-2003 and it sold well... And I personally don't think that the connection could be drawn between the jungle of Exo-Force's ending and the jungle of Ninjago... Unless sets sold extremely poorly because of the jungle element I'm pretty sure it won't be a problem. Quote
Mandate Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I doubt that it's mainly going to focus on the jungle, be it Hiroshi's Labyrinth (best guess, it's the only jungle we know of and not bringing it back is a waste of its brief but open exposition) or some brand new location. I actually saw a fairly unique idea on the LEGO Mb's regarding what the new plot is, but that belongs in the TV show thread. It involves a bit of time travel, but it's all theories and speculation so it doesn't matter until we get more details. I have my own theories regarding time travel, but that's for the TV show thread Looking forward to a Kmart slip-up like last year Quote
Starrocks923 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I don't know how I feel here. We're back to Serpentine again? I guess Chima is going to finish Fire VS. Ice next year(And with such an anticlimactic season three finale in Russian, what would you expect?), so Ninjago can take time to tie up loose ends. I bought a lot of Ninjago sets in 2012. In fact, I bought every Spinner, Booster Pack(Including two or three Kendo Jay Booster Packs) and all of the bigger sets, and ended up with every Ninjago minifigure that year. Since then, I've bought...Kai's Fire Mech, Kai Fighter, and Golden Ninja Keychain. I suppose I just like Chima better, but I haven't found anything worth my hard-earned money lately. But you never know what's next. I mean, Titanium Dragon sounds familiar somehow... Quote

Ice next year(And with such an anticlimactic season three finale in Russian, what would you expect?), so Ninjago can take time to tie up loose ends. Well, the Anacondrai in particular never got much focus in 2012, since in that story arc Pythor was the only one alive. I'm guessing that with the amount of emphasis they're getting in the 2015 lineup something's going to happen to change that. Or perhaps they'll merely go from dead to UNdead... we've had skeletons and snakes, but never skeleton snakes! I wonder if we'll see any parts like the Snake Staffs that were associated with the Serpentine. It'd be great to get an official Anacondrai Staff to go with the other four! I also wonder how many Anacondrai minifigures we'll see. Hoping for at least three (a scout, a soldier, and a warrior) in addition to the inevitable new Pythor minifigure. Quote
Mandate Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 The problem with that is, how do skeleton snakes fit in at all? Why build a temple, vehicles etc in (presumably) a jungle? And what brought them back? Pythor asked for a "small favor" from the Overlord (episode 29, Blackout), and his fate remains unknown. I'd be willing to go as far to say that because the past was changed (and the way it was changed remained into the future) that perhaps the Anacondrai may never have even died in the first place, and it's always possible they were hiding in the Labyrinth or used elemental/invisibility (whatever) to stay alive. They might have even been peaceful, but with the return of a command chain became war-like again. At this point in time, anything that happened after Episode 19 is canon. We still lack an explanation for how the Stone Army tomb was opened, and I really want the Hageman brothers to do something to tie up the ridiculously huge (and unnecessary) retcon that occurred in Episode 30. I doubt we'll get a new staff. They would have introduced it a lot earlier if it was the case. Personally I hope we see casual Nya, but given the alleged jungle setting I doubt it. Quote

Colossus Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 'Bout damn time we got The Brown Ninja. I can't wait! Quote
Mandate Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 No, modern stuff is going to stay, probably still future-esque. The difference is that we're not going to have another "rebooted" plot, eg, people got too dependent on Tech, they used it for defense, communication, etc. Not in the good sense, as in, they went too far in on all of these things and when disaster struck it made everything overly complicated to sort out. So the sets will keep a semi-future style, but it's going to be toned down a bit. Quote
