So since this movie isn't technically in the Marvel Cinematic Universe I thought this should be placed in a new topic. First trailer came out today and I think it's looking pretty good! The movie is based off of a Marvel comic series and I am sure it will a big success with the kids (and most likely the adults as well). It is made by the same people that worked with Wreck it Ralph and Frozen!

So what do you guys think? Future hit, box office bomb, or somewhere in-between?

Not sure how good it will be yet, but I am cautiously excited. The main thing I'm worried about is as someone who has read them in the comics, some of them in the comics are kind of offensive stereotypes. But I definitely am hopeful that the movie won't fall into the same traps. The new Wasabi looks like he might have avoided one danger for instance.

I've already mentioned this elsewhere, but of the characters my current favorite would be Gogo Tomago. Her characterization sounds interesting, and of the comic counterparts her's is the one I was the most invested in.

I will admit I kind of wanted Big Hero 6 to exist in the MCU, maybe they would be recruited by the Japanese government for defense after the events of Captain America: Winter Soldier. I guess that could still happen though, maybe if this movie does well enough they will get a cameo in like Avengers 3.

Well we have been using the other thread to discus the X-Men films and The Amazing Spider-Man films. Maybe one thread for live action and another for animated films?

Yeah I'm sure that could work. I just created a new topic because this one just seems so much further apart from the actual MCU then the Spidey and X-Men films, but whatever the Mods want to do I'm sure would be fine!

This movie looks great, although I don't think the Fall out Boy song fits with it too well. But if it's anything like Wreck it Ralph, it'll be amazing!

Not sure it looks great. I read some of the comics when I was younger. Getting a little tired of all the American-washing. "Sanfran-sokyo"? Seriously? I wonder if they were ever considering producing LEGO sets for the movie....

I don't see the big deal. They want to cross two cultures. I think it's kind of a cool idea, personally. Why should that determine if the movie is great, anyway?

I'm seeing it tomorrow! I can't wait, the movie looks fantastic.

I shouldn't get my hopes up, though. I did that with Frozen, and it turned out to be pretty bad in my opinion. Wreck-it-Ralph is still one of my favorite Disney movies, so we'll see if BH6 tops it.

Good mix of humour and action!

I hope you guys like the short as well (my friend worked on it during his internship with Disney Animations :sweet: )

Okay. Just got back from seeing it.

It was fantastic. Ceroknight basically sums it up: a good mix of humor and action. Characters were all fun, the story was good, and the music was pretty swell too. Still not sure if it tops Wreck-it-Ralph, though. I'll need to see it again (probably when it comes out on Blu-Ray).

The short at the beginning was also lovely and very cute. Better than Paperman if you ask me.

Oh, and be sure to stick around after the credits ;)

I really enjoyed the film. I wouldn't say that it was better than Wreck it Ralph (this plot twist was really blatant and obvious to me in this one), but still a very well done film.

I found the short very nice too, but I wouldn't say it was better than Paper Man. I absolutely love that short.

Saw the movie a couple days ago...and I LOVED it. So glad what Marvel and Disney are doing with these obscure series. It WAS a bit fast-paced, but it was funny and really enjoyable, especially from an animation standpoint.

It's funny, this movie is called Baymax in Japanese. The original title, Big Hero 6 is an American idea of a zany Japanese name, but for the Japanese, someone in marketing decided it wouldn't appeal to the Japanese.
