xenologer Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 (edited) As usual, I didn't make the fighter contest deadline. However, the spirit of such things is about the sharing of new ideas and creative constructions. Therefore, while it is still unfinished, I'd like to present my prototype fighter design and some of the techniques used: Possible names: Vengeful Princess, Angel Blade, Blanc Neige Depending on your universe reference, could be a Heavy Fighter, Superiourity Fighter, or Medium Fighter. It is the biggest and most advanced(technique) space fighter I've ever attempted; so I'm leaning towards Heavy Fighter till it is surpassed. Weaponry on nose: light laser, particle beam(red) -(the 'nostrils' are braking thrusters, not gun ports) With plans for underwing cannon or missiles. Currently the main barrier to completion is the landing gear, and wingtip attitude thrusters (both missing). Landing gear has been quite difficult, mainly because I'm interested in retractable wheeled gear; simpler skid feet could have completed this ship quite a while ago... Brickshelf when moderated. I'm fairly sure that while using car mudguards as engine nozzles is well known, this is one of the most compact ways of housing them. And it uses only real legos and non-damaging techniques, so I hope this design shows up more often in the future: Construction Details: (fullsize in brickshelf) Engine Design a smooth 'pod' design should be useful for many space applications. upper and lower armour around exhaust nozzle SNOT detail of exhaust nozzle SNOT cockpit uses the giant wedges from Stealth Hunter Edited June 4, 2007 by xenologer Quote
EXO-CHAMP Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 I really like those engines. My favorite part of this MOC. Why is there a red brick at the start of one enginge and a yellow at start of the other? Quote
zero1312 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 A beautiful craft. *wub* I vote for Vengeful Princess. :-) Can we expect more guns on her? X-D Quote
iamded Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Great sleek design! I love the engines... so smooth... *wub* Quote
Starwars4J Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Great design! It has a nice blend of yellow, white, black, and dark bley. The shape is also unique, something not easy to do these days. I also love that cockpit, I keep seeing that windscreen in all these space MOCs but have no idea where that part came from! As for the wings, I think they could be beefed up a bit. As it is now they're sorta lacking a bit. It looks kinda thrown on, and while it goes great with the rest of it color-wise, I'm sure you can make it really stand out there. Maybe throw some missile pods on there, of directional thrusters. Hell, even a sensor package isn't out of the realm of possibility. Similarly there are a lot of studs left open, and while you know I have no problem with studs on their own, it clashes with the theme of the ship, which seems to be smooth lines and curves. Also, maybe make the tiles in front of those engine-fins white too, the lone white fins seem just a bit too thrown on there. I know this is still a WIP though, so I don't know how many of the issues I mentioned are being fixed for the final run, but I just thought I'd throw my two cents on to this great fighter. It looks so fun to swoosh *wub* I can't wait to see the final product! Oh, and also on a ship this size some landing gear would fit Quote

I also love that cockpit, I keep seeing that windscreen in all these space MOCs but have no idea where that part came from! It was the main reason to me for buying this set: :-) Quote
