Axelthestormer Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I've been trying to partly change the colour of a Lego piece, the cheerleader hairpiece to be exact, but I don't really know how. so far I've tried sharpie but it starts rubbing off after a few days. I want to change the colour of the piece to red, but I want to leave the front/fringe the original colour. Any techniques would be appreciated, even ones I wouldn't be able to try at this point in time. Quote
Slobey Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I've found automotive vinyl paint works well. I used it to change the scabbard colour to red on my avatar figure and it hasn't come off with a bit of inserting and removing the sword. Quote
Axelthestormer Posted July 6, 2014 Author Posted July 6, 2014 Ok, ill try painting it then. Thanks. Quote
Robianco Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 (edited) When I was doing a little decal work I also got a clear acrylic spray to seal the decals. If I paint something I normally spray a thin coat of the acrylic spray and that seals it.... for good! Edited July 7, 2014 by Robianco Quote
Wardancer Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 There are also some very elaborate techniques for dying in the web. These involve some chemicals and a lot of trial and error. Quote
AmperZand Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I've been trying to partly change the colour of a Lego piece, the cheerleader hairpiece to be exact, but I don't really know how. so far I've tried sharpie but it starts rubbing off after a few days. After the Sharpie ink has dried, give it a coat of Humbrol satin. The coat is invisible and the same shininess as LEGO. I tested it on a spare piece and it's more permanent than LEGO print. The ears on these pieces were recoloured using the Sharpie/Humbrol method: Quote
