Superkalle Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 EDIT: This used to be in the Serious Questions about Flower, but was split out to this separate topic Old Flower Mini Quiz Nine questions related to this topic, and about on the same fun/geek level. For your entertainment and enjoyment. And don't despair if you don't get them all right...some are really hard 1) Where can you find the only triangular hole in the LEGO System? 2) Why does the flower stud have reduced clutch power (because it does)? 3) Name another brick that has reduced stud clutch power in the LEGO system? EDIT: question updated/clarified 4) What material is the flower made of? 5) The underside of the stem/stalk (3741) has a stud-hole that is much deeper then a normal stud hole. Name an element that has a stud that can fit all the way into the bottom of that hole. 6) Name a fundamental flaw with the stem/stalk (3741) element as far as the LEGO System is concerned. 7) If you compare to the other flowers in the LEGO System....which could be considered to be the right side up on the flower? Question removed 8) According to LDD (which mirrors the internal TLG digital standard), which is the right side up? Question removed 9) In 2012 a new stem/stalk was released with ID 99249. Why can't that be ordered as a spare part? If you get all questions right I'll bow deeply to you. And even through in a special tag to commemorate you as a true LEGO wiz. Good luck Quote
tman684 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Wow, I have no idea where to begin. I'd be impressed with anybody who can answer all of these! Interested to find out the answers! Quote
L@go Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I'll have a go - at most of them, anyway :) Mini Quiz Nine questions related to this topic, and about on the same fun/geek level. For your entertainment and enjoyment. And don't despair if you don't get them all right...some are really hard 1) Where can you find the only triangular hole in the LEGO System? That would be in the flower itself, right? 2) Why does the flower stud have reduced clutch power (because it does)? It's probably got to do with how hard it is to get a grip on the part if it's attached to, say, the underside of a plate or something. 3) Which other brick type has reduced clutch power in the LEGO system? Don't know. 4) What material is the flower made of? Don't know. 5) The underside of the stem/stalk (3741) has a stud-hole that is much deeper then a normal stud hole. Name an element that has a stud that can fit all the way into the bottom of that hole. The stud on any torso can... 6) Name a fundamental flaw with the stem/stalk (3741) element as far as the LEGO System is concerned. The crazy angles? 7) If you compare to the other flowers in the LEGO System....which could be considered to be the right side up on the flower? I'd say stud side up... 8) According to LDD (which mirrors the internal TLG digital standard), which is the right side up? Don't know, as I don't use LDD. But I'd be surprised if it's stud side down. 9) In 2012 a new stem/stalk was released with ID 99249. Why can't that be ordered as a spare part? Because it was in the Collectible Minifigure line - which LEGO doesn't do replacement parts for. If you get all questions right I'll bow deeply to you. And even through in a special tag to commemorate you as a true LEGO wiz. Good luck Quote
Pizzareno Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I agree with L@go's answers. But I'll add my 2 cents worth. 3) Which other brick type has reduced clutch power in the LEGO system? Brick 12 x 24 (30074) Well at least all the ones I have do have reduced clutch power. 6) Name a fundamental flaw with the stem/stalk (3741) element as far as the LEGO System is concerned. You can't fit a regular brick or 1 x 1 round brick into the middle of it. Quote
alois Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 3) Which other brick type has reduced clutch power in the LEGO system? The lower part of the old style hinge has very little clutch power on the studs. Quote
Superkalle Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 Some good answers coming in...even one I hadn't even thought of myself, so that's nice I'll keep the topic open for some time to see if all the correct answers come in. EDIT: The answers for 7) and 8) were actually in in some earlier posts in the original Flower topic, so we could exclude those. For 7) The answer was that if you look at the other flowers, the "stud" part is facing down, so if you use that as a guideline, the stud on the old flower should face down too. For 8), the answer was that the stud faces down in LDD. Quote
gratefulnat Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I'll try... 1) Where can you find the only triangular hole in the LEGO System? In the flower stud. 2) Why does the flower stud have reduced clutch power (because it does)? Otherwise it would often not be possible to remove it without damage. 3) Name another brick that has reduced stud clutch power in the LEGO system? EDIT: question updated/clarified The mini antenna. 4) What material is the flower made of? ABS (I actually have no clue, but maybe it's a trick question ) 5) The underside of the stem/stalk (3741) has a stud-hole that is much deeper then a normal stud hole. Name an element that has a stud that can fit all the way into the bottom of that hole. A minifigure neck 6) Name a fundamental flaw with the stem/stalk (3741) element as far as the LEGO System is concerned. It is not possible to attach any square bricks to the stud, only rounded ones. 9) In 2012 a new stem/stalk was released with ID 99249. Why can't that be ordered as a spare part? Because LEGO still has plenty of part 3741 available, and want to use up their stock of the old part before offering the new part. Well, those are my spontaneous half-wit answers Thanks Superkalle, it was fun! Quote
talos Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Good answers! My question is, why if the plant stem part has 3 stems, do the flower parts come with 4 flowers? :-) Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I guess because the flower is so tiny it fits into the list of parts you get a spare of. For easier calculation you get 1 spare for each stem instead of just 1 spare per bage ... Quote
