Han Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Hi, I'm new on this community. A little background, technic fan since 1978 with the focus on building technic models with a mix of play-ability and technic functions. Not on 'big-bigger-biggest'. The combination with Cad/Cam (MLcad) makes it fun to design/build with Lego. Last developments are the 8421XL crane truck and the Prinoth Leitwolf snow groomer project, which can be rebuild by everyone with MLcad. All files are public and can be found on my website. I like to share these models (and others to come) with this European community. My place of origin is The Netherlands. See for more information: www.dj-han.nl/lego Enjoy! Regards, Han Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Hello and welcome, Han (Solo? *yoda* X-D ). It's always good to have some more Technic builders around here! :-) That snow groomer is indeed impressive! :'-) Would you try to build a halfpipe-groomer? I'm sure it would look amazing! :-) Technic on! Quote
Han Posted May 27, 2007 Author Posted May 27, 2007 Thanks. :-) Actually the additional equipment list was/is: a) Adding the Drum Winch. b) Update the groomer with the new technic treads, and as well with the motors of the 8275 Bull dozer set c) Halfpipe equipment d) Excavator Bucket 18 x 10... (never seen, but 'fun' to add). Will take a couple of months I guess, especially the new treads. The 8275 is scheduled for 1st September... Quote
Norro Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Hey and welcome! Technique... now there is a challenge ;-) God Bless, Nathan Quote
gylman Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Hi Han, Welcome to EB. My main interest with Lego was primarily Technic for many years, although in recent times I have faded because of the change in elements and techniques has turned me off (liftarms, angle connectors, etc), and in general I find the models these days much less interesting than those of 10-20 years ago - they don't look as nice, and don't do as much. Airtech Claw Rig has long been my favourite set (as some on this site may know) because of all the functionality and techniques. Models these days seem to have one trick per model, and that's about it. I remember when 8421 came out how excited I was - I drove all over town looking for the first copy available. It was an OK model, but not really what I had hoped for from the biggest Technic set of all time. Very repetitive build, and the alternate was not worth the trouble. The pneumatics were almost not worth the trouble of using.... I had a look at some of the stuff for your XL improvement, and it looks really good. The idea of the extendable counterweight is clever - I'll definitely try that out next time I rebuild that model. The bulldozer coming up this year looks exciting... really looking forward to that. But, I'd really love to have non-vehicle Technic model set, along the lines of 8094, and hopefully pneumatics will be a key part of it. Enjoy your time here on EB. Most of the excitment these days seems to be in system Lego, but maybe Technic can have a revival. I think there is a Technic forum somewhere on the web, but I can't seem to find my old link to it.... Quote
