ACPin Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Despite the efforts by Rogue Squadron, the power generator was eventually destroyed by the advancing Imperial forces. The remaining base personnel proceeded to evacuate, as the 501st Legion entered the base. It would prove a major victory for the Galactic Empire, and would heavily stymie the Rebels. Built this MOC last year and have taken pics but never got to post them, so it's your first look at it. AC Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 AWESOME work again from the Lego Star Wars master himself........Brick On 'AC Pin' ! Footnote - now you need one where Vader enters the base. Quote

Only Sinner Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 You never disappoint, AC. I do love a good Hoth MOC, particularly the vehicles and all the white detail. Quote
Robianco Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Lovely build! I've always loved Hoth based MOCs... somehow official Lego sets have never captured Hoth particularly well... fortunately there are excellent MOCers doing the job instead! Quote
The Rancor Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 The uneven icy landforms look perfect, great with the random ground panels as well! I also love the inclusion of the original X Wing back when it was the correct colour, complete with those boarding ladders. There's a great sense that it's busy too, as you would be if the AT ATs we're closing in! Quote
Mr Man Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Grey X-Wings? Unusual but they stand out nicely against the snow. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Great inclusion of the original X-Wing set. Personally it will always remain my favorite - its blocky grunginess really suits the Rebels in a way that all of the newer, bigger, sleeker models have not been able to match. Sure, it's not the most 'accurate' thing perhaps, but it really has the right character. Quote
markus1984 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Nice diorama! Think the snowlandscape looks really good with all the details. good job! markus Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 What a great build! There's a lot going on and everything is spot on. I do have one question though - have you thought about using a SNOTed ground in white? Because from a closer view, these tiles look too much like ... well tiles :) Quote
ACPin Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 You never disappoint, AC. I do love a good Hoth MOC, particularly the vehicles and all the white detail. The vehicles are the original sets except possibly from some minor mods. Lovely build! There's a great sense that it's busy too, as you would be if the AT ATs we're closing in! There has to be some action going on in any diorama scene that I've done. Pretty pointless if all the minifigs just stood at attention unless it's the Emperor's arrival. Grey X-Wings? Unusual but they stand out nicely against the snow. Again, original first version sets. Robianco Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 (edited) These vehicles are official Lego sets. :) The vehicles have never been an issue for me... AT-AT, Snowspeeder, Tauntauns, Wampa... all excellent... it's just that the buildings or dioramas haven't really worked for me. Edited May 28, 2014 by Robianco Quote

They're trying to get better as you've seen with the Ewok Village and Jabba's Palace/Rancor pit. The new Cantina seems also to point in that direction. AC Quote
Robianco Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Absolutely... I agree wholeheartedly. It was more specifically to Hoth... It doesn't matter what Echo Base kits they've done they've all been very open things... the Cantina even for a small set (in terms of the actual building) has the right sense of space. As much as Echo base was quite large it was very well covered and closed in... I don't think we've actually had a wall on any of the Hoth sets! Quote
