Phantom59 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 would 42025 Cargo plane be the largest Technic set (not in parts count) Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I don't think so,I would expect it to be one of the semi trucks with their trailers. Quote
Paul B Technic Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 It really depends on how you assess this, I suspect 42009 would also be close to the top. Quote
D3K Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 If you think of width, or actual floorspace taken up by a single model, I think it could very well be 42025.. If you think of height, then probably 42009, with extended boom.. Length? Maybe 8285 B-model ? Quote
DrJB Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) It really depends on HOW you define 'size'. If it is parts count, then probably the 42009 is largest. If however you use 'weight', then possibly the Space Shuttle 8480, Super Car 8880 or Technic Control Center would qualify as largest set. Lately TLG has been using the 'largest set ever' slogan to advertise the Unimog, 2 yeas ago, and the 42009, last year. Recent sets (studless) typically have around 50% of their parts consisting of pins and bushings. If you include the other small connectors, that number could easily climb to 65-70%. I call those parts 'nails and glue' ... and for me they really 'do not count' as parts ... they're just there to hold 'serious' parts together. Edited May 15, 2014 by DrJB Quote
S.I Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Looking at my shelves, the original off roader looks the largest due to its bulk. Quote
Phantom59 Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 I was thinking of "shelf space" . 42025 is almost as wide as it is long. It should have come with folding wings Quote
locoworks Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 is this current or any Lego sets? I think the space shuttle was quite big, but so was the silver F1 car Quote
N-4K0 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 (edited) 42009 Mobile Crane MKII is the biggest in parts count. In size, 8110 Unimog U400 is the biggest that I know of. Edited May 12, 2014 by Error404 Quote
Lakop Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I suspect 8110 is the largest as in height and width, others could be considered larger by part count. When I think of big sets I think of actual size not part count. H Quote
Polo-Freak Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 (edited) The Silver Champion / Williams / Ferrari F1 Cars are wider & longer then the Unimog ;-) Edited May 12, 2014 by Polo-Freak Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 The Power puller with sledge is certainly longer, may be even the longest of all? Quote
Rikus Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 The Silver Champion / Williams / Ferrari F1 Cars are wider & longer then the Unimog ;-) That's true! I've got my Ferrari F1 exposed on shelf, at the moment, together with the 42000... To find room for them I had to dismount four other big sets (8043, 8275, 8265 and 42006)! The Ferrari is 62cm long and 30cm wide Quote
SNIPE Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 (edited) which is the widest out of: Williams F1 (8461)) Silver Champion (8458) Grand Prix Racer (42009) Ferrari F1 (8674) Edited May 14, 2014 by SNIPE Quote
Blakbird Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 which is the widest out of: Williams F1 (8461)) Silver Champion (8458) Grand Prix Racer (42009) Ferrari F1 (8674) The Williams and Silver Champion are exactly the same. All 4 are sitting on my shelf and I don't see any relevant difference in width. 42009 might be a little narrower because of the smaller tires. Quote
GoldVillage Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) when it comes total width (cars) i have to say 8674 and 8865, they are like 32-33 studs wide Edited May 15, 2014 by GoldVillage Quote
Technix Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 which is the widest out of: Williams F1 (8461)) Silver Champion (8458) Grand Prix Racer (42009) Ferrari F1 (8674) isn't the GP Racer item# 42000? 42009 is the crane on your avatar :) Quote
