Herky Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 I have noticed that there are a lot of TLM posts, many items that are great to discuss and wondered if it wasn't time to break it off into its own theme. I am not sure how to do a poll on here and that is fine, but I would love to see it in it's own theme. We know there will be sequels, there are MOC's and MOD's, there are almost as many TLM posts on here as the rest combined...just wondering if we should break it off into it's own theme...what say you? Before making a separate theme here I'd be interested in seeing what kind of staying power it has. For example, Western was my favorite growing up and it was wildly popular, but now it's faded and become a sub theme for the historic forum. I loved the movie, just don't know how long we will be seeing unique discussions for. Quote
Gremer Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Right now, the Special Themes Area almost seems like "The LEGO Movie plus some other stuff area" to me. But, at the same time, there's not enough here to keep a purely LEGO Movie area alive for very long. Quote
Dorayaki Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 (edited) I haven't got this. Do you mean this theme should continue without new movie/animation content? I personally don't think it works too much. Remember it is a crossover, that means a combination of most existed themes. Even though compared with Clutch Powers, it does has some original ideas and subthemes (eg, Cuckoo World), those aren't too many and more regular sets can be done with it. Star Wars is the typical and successful example that how popularity and commercial works continue without another new movie in theater during these years. I think TLM is telling a story, but doesn't have a completely independent universe to begin a theme without stories yet. Edited May 8, 2014 by Dorayaki Quote
ResIpsaLoquitur Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 It might work better in Licensed themes given the involvement of Batman, and the fact that it's a product based on a movie...that's based on a product. "Special" is a weird place for it, though, since this theme mostly covers Architecture and Creator. Quote
rollermonkey Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I actually suggest that it belongs in LEGO Action Themes. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I agree, Licensed themes would be better since it does contain Super Heroes, LOTR and HP characters among many others......seriously we could of had Bart Simpson told Lord Business what to eat ? Quote
Herky Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 I think you could easily fold it into Licensed, I would not say let it stand on its own after reading the replies, maybe combine it with a couple others, but I think I counted over 40 different threads for TLM. I am not trying to cause any issues really, I read a few of the TLM threads and also the others on this theme, just seems like TLM has taken over, and we could organize things better. Just a thought anyway. Quote

Just a thought anyway. I think that we should leave it here for the rest of the year, just to see if it will fade into the background like so many other themes. Maybe then we could gauge the continuing popularity of the movie, but now may be too early. It is still on everyone's minds, so that may be why it has been so popular. If we give it time, we can see if it will remain strong. Quote
