I'll be in Berlin in few weeks ... was wondering if there was a place to find legos at a decent price ... besides the Lego Store and Toys-Я-Us

both shopes Toys R Us and Lego Store are not really cheap... well, probably much cheaper than official prizes in USA... i assume ;-)

Often big warehouses like Karstadt or KdW (= Kaufhaus des Westens) have discount offerings also for lego sets...

best would be: check ebay.de and try to buy some bargains there and let them ship to an adress in Berlin (if you know any, e.g. a colleague at work if you are on business in berlin)..

Alhough i'm not from Berlin - i stumbled upon this ad a couple days ago.

https://www.sadk-berlin.de

It seems to be a store focused on our favorite brick manufacturer offering new and used sets and bricks.

Another address could be the real,- Supermarkets. From time to time they offer interesting discounts.

You are absolutely right. They only sell LEGO and you maybe find some useful (used) bricks in their wide assortment.

I really enjoyed my stay there when I was visiting Berlin two years ago. The staff is very friendly and I think some are known in the AFOL community 1000steine.de.

The bad thing: It's not close to the center of Berlin. :look:

It looks like there is S-bahn stop (Feuerbachstr) not that far away, so this shouldn't be an issue.

I'll have a car (+GPS) so, is driving an option? I was advised against but ... not used to the transit system.

Besides real,- and Karstadt, try also to find a " Galeria Kaufhof". They often have good deals, even for Technic.

Both options are fine!

What did you end up doing?

Have not done much yet. It's been work only up to now. managed to visit Brandenburg gate yesterday. It's Friday AM .... Having breakfast at the Centrovital hotel near Spandau. I read that the Galeria Kaufhauf near AlexanderPlatz is having a large/special lego exhibit. They open at 10, so I have a couple of hours to kill, before heading there. Might take pics and share, if I find anything interesting. I am curious as to the selection from the PAB walls in European stores, then might head to sack later in the day. Of course, gotta visit some landmarks as we'll ...

KaDeWe is a must anyway (if only for the food hall on the top floor) - and its not far from the lego shop

and if you are near the zoo - eat here: http://www.zurkneipe.de/ though anywhere in the area are some great eating houses
