Ideas for new City sets

Er, guys if memory serves me correct there is a topic for such wish lists......but I can't seem to find it.

In any case I hope for a service station/truck stop to aid the Great Vehicles range.......and yes, more shops to fill the city.

So a retail sub-theme would be a good idea.

To stay realistic:

It's sure that we'll get a new Fire theme (last one in 2013):

- fire HQ

- fire boat

- "ladder truck"

- fire heli

And a Police subtheme is imo very supposably, too - maybe some special forces (last ones in 2013):

- bank robbery (last bank in 2011)

- money transport robbery (last money transport in 2011)

- special forces heli (last one in 2013)

For the Great Vehicles theme I bet for:

- pisten bully (in addition to this year's snow plow)

- doube decker bus / travel bus / city bus with or without small station (last one in 2013)

- postal / parcel logistic van (last one in 2008)

- garbage truck (last one in 2012)

- street sweeper (the small one back in 2013, the last big one in 2010)

- small car (last one in 2010)

Since there's a station called "Harbor" in the 60097 City Square and since TLG has been giving us those hints from time to time, and since the last harbor theme had been in 2011, I could well imagine a new Harbor theme:

- cargo ship with crane and dock (last one in 2007)

- civilian harbor (last one in 2011)

- small yacht (last one in 2011)

- car ferry

or a mega-set such as 60097 containing parts of all these together

Yes, a new Emergeny theme is very supposably, too. I hope that not again CG. A new and decent hospital would be amazing. But I highly doubt it. Then could more imagine that we got a mountain rescue theme.

Farm had been released back in 2008 and 2009. But since TLG hasn't released a single set or line after that, I fear that there won't be any new farm sets next year.

Since this year Friends is getting an Airport subtheme, I highly doubt we'll see one in City already next year.

As for a circus, zoo or safari theme: I really, really would highly welcome these themes and they're since long overdue. But I highly doubt that the City theme will offer us these sets since Friends would unluckily take them.

Preschool for Duplo.

And for Lego:

Small School set for kids

Junior High/High School for Friends

University for Modulars :D

This way every age class gets a school. Nice if they could make all sets in a way that makes it fairly easy to make them into modulars ;)

Fire theme is quite likely though I'd bet on hospital theme as in hasn't been updated for a longer time.

Another branch of police is inevitable. We got one each year cause it's so popular with boys. I hope there would be something like bank or museum robbery. Highway patrol could be nice either.

I don't think they gonna add small cars though. We've got plenty of cars with tow trucks and the last transport station. What I think we'd see is another use of new sports bike mold.

And yes, I agree it's about time for a new harbour theme. We haven't seen any new ships for a while.

FYI, there was a Farm subtheme in 2009/2010 which had some great sets (see City Farm sets on Brickset). Be good to see that brought back soon!

Yes another Farm theme would be fantastic!!! If we can't get a Safari / Zoo theme then I would be happy for more Farming!

Like stated above, a Safari theme would be great, as long as the focus isn't on the vehicles.

A lodge, souvenir shop, rescue centre would be great. If they would ad an ATV, Jeep and a camper to all of this, they would have a complete line-up.

Edit: something like this... I don't understand why Duplo keeps getting al the animal themes.

Hell, most of these could be almost directly converted into really cool City sets.

Would probably market better as Wildlife Preserve though.

I've been dreaming of a zoo or safari theme for years. I think it might be great. But they do have a lot of that in the friends line, so it may not get into City.

Fire and police are almost certain.

There won't be any new trains as we've had a new one this year.

I'm thinking we will get a fire and police sub theme in January, maybe like Coast Guard meets fire and police. They are running out of places to have a new police station every year, so why not go to the beach?

Then I think we need a new airport at some point, been awhile since we had one and LEGO loves making planes.

The last two years LEGO has brought back older ideas for the City theme with Arctic and Divers, so maybe something a little more out there in the summer... like rock rescuers? (Power Miners meets City?)

Well, you might be right. It was only because I thought about which 10 Euro / Dollars set TLG could release. Since it's a pity that we didn't get one in the Great Vehicles theme this year.

How many cars / trucks does the fire station include? And will there finally be some - or at least one - huge fire truck(s) without ladder (something similar to the 2012 forest fire truck)? Can you please inform us about which other themes we'll get in 2016? This would be great!

Hmm, that does make sense and all tied into the Great Vehicles sub-theme.

If they do release the tanker, I hope it has a name like ''Gas Tanker'' or ''Octan Tanker''. The current names they use don't sound like about gas.

I think that's a regional thing, I don't know about the rest of europe but certainly in the UK we would call it a Fuel or Petrol Tanker rather than gas tanker. Nothing to stop LEGO giving them different names between US and Europe though. With the success of the LEGO movie I think capitalising on the better public knowlegde of the Octan brand could be clever, but equally, some kids might now see Octan as the evil corporation and think of anything associated with being the baddies.

Just struck by a thought, Friends recently had the animal rescue sub theme, which was pretty much a safari like theme.

True. It may still happens after years pass so that another safari story is considered a rehashing. It's sad that Friends didn't highlight adult animals in their stories. Zoo might be abit closer to the "City" definition... uh.... although we know the explorer and swamp police things .

I've been dreaming of a zoo for years. But they do have a lot of that in the friends line, so it may not get into City.

Well.... Friends did have animal series but they're not exactly the zoo. In Friends' webisodes, you may find out that the cubs are mostly pets of the girls, or they belong to the wild. Some TV stations might be a good direction.

but how about a Schools theme?

Since it's also used by Friends before, I guess we'll see another version of Heartlake High if this theme is long-lived enough. As for other versions, a City school isn't impossible, but not big enough for a subtheme. Maybe a Modular one can end the case perfectly.

I'd like to see how a Ninjago Academy and its school bus turn out, if this theme is popular enough.

Farm is one of the retro themes I'd like to see return. Friends's ranch theme went in a different direction (animals and fruits. mostly) so I always want to see more City/Town ones.

Some good ideas here. I like the idea of a hospital theme made out of separate wards, or a TV/news theme made out of separate stages of the process.

A zoo theme would be Great too, though Im afraid themes like this would go to Friends. But it would be a good way to make the most out of their rarely-used animal molds (like the camel or ostrich from PoP), and reuse some animals from the Friends universe, minus the Disney eyes and eyelashes.

A school theme I dunno, seems like kids have enough of school already. Its true that Friends got a hgh school, but it seems to me that girls would play differently with a school than boys, the main target group of City. I heard that girls play is more grounded, with them acting out real life relationships that can be placed in a school setting. Boys play is more out there, with the school more likely used as something to be destroyed by some supervillain. But sure, I myself wouldnt say no to a school subtheme.

Which includes a TV helicopter. Seems a little out of place IMO...

helicopters are never out of place! put one on a low loader it will look good. put in in a shed and it will look good. put it upside down in a wreck and it will look 'good'. HELICOPTERS ARE ALWAYS GOOD!

I'm thinking with the release of the hot air balloon mold in the friends line this year, there is some potential for a 4x4, trailer and a hot air balloon in the city lineup.
