talos Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Hi, I have been trying to build a revolving door to put into a building I am designing. I am using the technique used in the entrance to the Grand Emporium modular building set. So far, I have built my door, using the same parts specified in the GE build, only difference is I am making mine narrower. I placed the turntable base plate on the floor of my entrance, and try to place the door into the center hole, but it won't let me do it. it just ghosts over the spot, and no amount of aligning/rotating the view will it allow it. It seems to be clinging to the ground plane, though it will let me raise it up and stick onto the top of a wall. I have the door assembly grouped so I can grab it as a single unit to move around. Any ideas on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! This is an image of what I am talking about. Quote

bak318 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 (edited) I made a revolving door in my LDD station. Perhaps you can use the idea. I know this is with 4 doors and you make one with 3 but it's the idea. How i did it you have only tiles on the floor so a pattern can continue. You can find the LDD station on lego.com/new gallery. http://www.us.lego.com/en-us/gallery/788be359-86ec-42b3-aef1-b63dacab5ffc?index=22&loadprivate=true&memberid=192e3a4e-7667-407c-83d3-d5a6a8204014 This is part one, there's a part two. Just type in bak318 or ldd station and you will find it. Edited April 9, 2014 by bak318 Quote

Superkalle Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 How i did it you have only tiles on the floor so a pattern can continue. Not sure I understand. What are you referring to? Quote

Is it something you're saying or asking? What i mean is that i put the turntable ( the small 2x2 one) on top of the revolving door. Than it's only 1 plate high and on the floor there's nothing in the way. You can do the tiles on the floor in a consisting pattern. Quote
talos Posted April 9, 2014 Author Posted April 9, 2014 (edited) Here you go... it's what I call "cheating"... Thanks for this tip, and I got it to work, but what I need to do is put the ball end of the pin into the center hole of the turntable plate (even with a holder plate in place), it is a round hole, not a cross pin, but it still refuses to accept the ball end into the hole..frustrating! Here is another view of what I have. It must be some sort of glitch. Edited April 9, 2014 by talos Quote

bak318 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 That's the trick with this one. It's not connected to the floor. I used the wallelement 4215 to make the doors, with 32028 as pushbar in the middle, i put them under the round plate 6177. On top of 6177 there is a small turntable part 74340, the one that's 2x2. That one goes to the rooftop/bow/entrence whatever you made over the revolving door. In fact the door is "hanging"/ standing on the turntable. It can not fall because the height is the same as the height of the entrence. So instead of the rotating on the floor it's now on top. I wanted a revolving door in my station that didn't was strange. For a minifig, a turntable on the floor is huge to step over. On the legosite ae more pics of the station and also the lxf. Just a warning, the station is 22.231 bricks. A bit large. Quote
