yohai71 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) Hello all, As with my previous 42001 Mini Off-Roader review, I'd like to post this one with more photos (plus video) and less word or dry data. Let me just add that 42010 is part of a recent crop of kits from Lego which utilize a "pull back and release" mechanism. Lego markets these in pairs, so rather than having a 2 in 1 kit, you buy two kits and make a third model of them... makes you spend more money, eh? So 42010 which I'll review here, goes along with 42011 Race Car: ...to create this Top Fuel dragster: Another pair of kits is 42026 Black Champion Racer: ...and 42027 Desert Racer (see this nice review written by Freeysch): They are meant to create this Racing Truck: Ok, lets start. The box: On the back you'll see that dragster you can build together with 42011- Lego sure manage to insert that picture anywhere in the kit- lest you forget to tell your parents: "I NEED another kit!"...: Open the box and out slide...: ...all the parts, which at first glance and while in their bags, don't look like much at all: As you can see there are two manuals, see some complementary pictures of. The first manual: That dragster again...: and the parts-list: The second manual basically only shows you what you can do with these kits: Lest you forget, there are other Technic kits: Of course, it wouldn't be complete without yet another photo of the dragster: Here's a photo of interesting parts (to me, at least). I really like those winglet-type parts, like the orange ones on the Mini Off-Roader. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes here: Ok, lets start with the build. Some photos as I go along: Starting to look like a car: The "body" about to be attached to the chassis: All done: Some leftovers (I don't know why they added the cog and the spiral rod in the first place): See it from all angles: It's interesting to compare it with the Mini Off-Roader: I managed to get a minifig into the Mini Off-Roader last time, but he has no hope here...: 42010 is just too big for him! Yet he manages to grab a hold of the steering wheel: The whole thing took me about 30 minutes, and I was taking photos while building it. I really enjoyed the process- I think Technic models are masters in making you feel like you're engineering something far more complex than what they really are. But that's the whole thing with Lego- how you feel while building it. Now for the video: That is basically it, I hope you enjoyed this review. Edited March 26, 2014 by yohai71 Quote

jodawill Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 It looks pretty cool. It reminds me of the Bungee Blaster sets. I had one when I was little and I loved it. I was really disappointed when I overstretched the bungee string. Quote
Jim Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Great review!! I like the casual style with your hands visible in the pictures. Nice touch. I have added the review to the index (and the Mini Off-Roader too) Quote
