Looking back on the old sets they could have been a lot better instead of being walls with doors, and there were plenty of opportunities to recreate memoriable moments from the two movies. The figures were kind of dissapointing too, like Harry and Norman Osborn both having the same face which was already used for a generic figure in the studio line.

Then again maybe it would have been better if they had just got a Marvel liscence. With the Fantastic Four sequel comming out, Lego could have merged that with Spiderman 3. Maybe even throw in a few X-Men 3 legos like the X-Jet, the Sentinel from the start of the movie, an X-Mansion playset like the Batcave one or a set of Jean's house or the labs with lots of play feature that the Dark Phoenix can use to blow **** up!

Imagine the cool figures we could have gotten like Venom, New Goblin, Symbiote Spidey, Wolverine, Magneto, Phoenix with her veiny zombie face and her normal Jean Grey face, Dr. Doom, Silver Surfer, Thing, Galactus... Sandman might be a bit hard but. It could have been the next Star Wars in Lego liscencing.

I agree. When I saw the line of Spiderman 2 sets I kept asking "Why did they not make a 'Mary Jane performs The Importance of Being Earnest' set"? That would have SOLD!

That was a joke.

You know, if the minifig's face would have resembled MJ just slightly I would have bought it...

That was a joke.

That's a first...

don't think so, really.

Lego already has a fairly large number of themes/licenses. They're not going to increase their sales by adding yet another line or by turning a line into "a bunch of everything", a few spiderman figs, x-men 3 figs,... sure, some x-men fans may be buying lego figs, but that potentiel market is waaaaaaay too small to have a good selling line, especially when the other lines are selling very well, not to mention the high costs, not only to pay Marvel for the license, but also production costs.

seriously, the fewer licenses lego has the better. Star wars is obviously a super success, HP always does pretty good in a first year of release, but all the others don't really add anything to Lego's catalogue. Sure, batman was pretty nice, but is already at a dead end considering the few new sets... sponge is mainly interesting for several parts, more than for the line as such. still i'd prefer "Vikings", which was also a small line...

Also, Lego's approach on potential lines is: "will it sell on both sides of the Atlantic?" I'm pretty sure "Fantastic four" or "X-men" would not sell in Europe. Not enought to justify the production costs anyway.

I'd buy them. But I do see your point.

I think it's unlikely it would happen, but I'd certainly love to see it. You've got the FF, the X-Men, the Avengers, and all the 'Marvel Knights', and a whole host of villains, HQs and vehicles (Quin-Jets, Fantasti-Car). Galactus would be a set in itself! *wub*

In fact, even DC, to give Batman some supporting characters. Obviously, the appeal of Batman is his rogues gallery, and his gadgets, but other heroes would work well with maybe two or three sets each. Nothing big, maybe a base and/or a couple of villains.

First, I wish ;-) .

Yeah, me too. :-P

(Kinda the point) ;-)

Still, I know it'll never happen. Just mindless brainstorming. Of useless ideas. Woo! X-D

Invisible Woman

That's one less figure to worry about. ;-)

Marvel Wars (I don't know, it's an excuse for figs ;-))

Spider-Man vs. Carnage -

Well i for one would of really liked more comic related lego sets, x-men, fantastic four, hulk, superman ohhh my how i wish!!

The batman sets were great for us fans, though im not sure if they sold well :-/

I think the problem is that certain comic sets would be harder to make than others, the ff for example would have a huge range of ideas where as spidey didnt.

I heard that one of the Spider-Man 3 producers (dunno which) said that they have enough material for "another 20 films", so I guess there should also be some little potential to make like 10 to 15 good sets...

Marvel ON!!!!

BTW:

The big surprise in the FoxNews.com report is word that one character who appears to die in Spidey 3 might return for Spidey 4. "It turns out I may not be completely dead," the unnamed actor who plays the unspecified character revealed.

I think it's a good guess the actor is talking about venom (the symbiot only though) who could have survived the explosion, Sandman isn't dead and bringing Harry back doesn't make any sense at all, the whole arc of the (broken and revived) friendship between Peter and Harry is told, so the character isn't needed anymore.

I really hope we will see an improved (Bigger! More evil!) version of Venom in the next movie.... >:-)

Hum could be but I can't quite imagine the actor of the symbiote speaking to foxnews... but then again they did say it was an unspecified actor... ;-)

as for a lego set, I'm sooooo glad they didn't have the occasion of making a ridiculous dancing dark peter in the streets of NY! X-D

I think TLC could get away selling sets with just characters (opposing i.e. Spiderman and Venom, or team i.e. The Fantastic Four) with weapons (web, lamp-post, gun, chains), civilians and a piece of scenery (a car, a small piece of building etc). They could sell these for affordable prices, I think they'd be a hit. Or they could sell them in those magnet sets they have. Ooh, and they could have special sets, like how they made that Yoda out of bricks, they could have them. Only with Ghost Rider! Hahaha!

(Kinda off-topic, but I can't wait for the Iron Man movie!!)

Ooor, Venom is still alive, character by the name of Cletus Kassidy is introduced... Venom spawns a little symbiote minion, which finds ol' Cletus, wala! CARNAGE!!!

Sculptures, eh? I like the sound of that...

You could have Ghost Rider (on his bike of course), Iron Man, Venom, Spider-Man, Carnage, The Thing (would be good and easy), Sandman, etc.

Kinda like those Marvel sets you can buy, Marvel Heroes or something, I forget, they come in a little plastic box. Only in Lego sculpture form.

Yes!

You could maybe even have team sculptures, like the FF or the Avengers.

And what I wouldn't give for an Iron Man mini-fig: both new suit and first appearence suit.

Well, did Lego sell the entire Marvel license to MegaBloks? Does that mean they can't make any Marvel sets? 'Cause that's just dumb!!

If not, then there's still hope!
