Capn Frank Posted May 6, 2007 Author Posted May 6, 2007 Hey Landlubber, You should make a seperate thread of your BSB-MOC *y* The HMS Victory (Nelsons ship) is also still in active service in the British navy. Nowadays it is used as a museum. The USS constituition is also still afloat and goes on ceramonial cruises around the coast sometimes too. :) I was lucky enough that I discovered lego pirates in 2003. I went to LEGOLAND billund that vacation, and saw this ship (legend version). I prefered it over the black falcon's castle, and I still do now. I also bought 30 brown rowboats, wich I don't have a use for now...... I had already owned the BSB when it's re-release came out, so it was a good opportunity to get a brand new black falcon's fortress, which was my absolute first ever lego set *sweet* P Quote
Landlubber Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Hey Landlubber,You should make a seperate thread of your BSB-MOC *y* P I'm pretty sure I did around the time I joined up here. Unless I just added it in the tread about all my ships. Can't really remember. Quote
zouave Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 I saw the set when it came out in 2002.This is when my pirate obcession started to give way to the civil war. Anyways,I saw this set and after much begging and pleading I left the store empty-handed.Sigh Quote
El Bucanero Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 This is the ship wich brought me into pirates again. I bought it in LEGOland Denmark. I remember I searched the whole frigin' park shops to find it... At the end of the day I was quite desperate I couldn't find it. But when I entered the PaB, I saw it... I was happy and also confused: Happy because I found this wonderful ship, and confused because the put it in the PaB... Why on earth would you put a set in a brick shop?! If I hadn't had this ship, I probably wouldn't be into pirates again, and besides, the HMS Unpredictable wouldn't have looked like it was without the parts of this ship. One of the best sets ever made! 5 out of 5. Mr Tiber Quote
Scouty Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 So, there is indication you took apart this beloved set? :-P . Quote
El Bucanero Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 There have been a few Black Seas Barracuda inspired MOCs here on Eurobricks in the last couple of months. For instance: Admiral Wig's Escort Frigate, Bonaparte's HMS Hotspur, and dukeschunke's HMS Expedition. P This might be less obvious then the ships you pointed in your post, but did you know the HMS Unpredictable was actually inspired by the BSB! So, there is indication you took apart this beloved set? :-P . Indeed!! :-P Quote
Capn Frank Posted May 13, 2007 Author Posted May 13, 2007 This might be less obvious then the ships you pointed in your post, but did you know the HMS Unpredictable was actually inspired by the BSB! I see the similarieties now :-$ I was just mentioning the BSB inspired MOCs that had active threads at the time. but i found the thread to the HMS Unpredictable: So here be a couple more BSB inspired MOCs to check out: Mr. Tiber's HMS Unpredictable and from the new member Fender Bender The Triton's Vengeance Enjoy! Lord Of Pies Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 I have just ordered this set from Bricklink, It had better worth the $175 I paid for it! :'-) Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 I think this is the best ship ever! Altough mine's in pieces... Can't say anything else then a 5! Great review Phred, thanks for that! *y* Quote
natelite Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 for those of you with the firing cannon - how do you fire the cannon? can you show pic examples? Quote
Col. Whipstick Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 What can I say... the Barracuda always deserved to be a part of the legends section. Took me a long time before I got mine. She's a beauty of design, size, firepower and by far the most important set to the entire pirate contingent. Who thinks of Rock Island Refuge, Forbidden Island or the Renegade Runner before the Barracuda or as it was always known to me as - The Dark Shark. The bright red and white striped sails made her the obvious nemesis of the Caribbean Clipper and the fear of all imperials everywhere. The only thing she ever lacked was men, the ship came with a fairly generous 8 but would 10 men have been too much to ask? Then again maybe I'd ask for 12 if I was given 10... at any rate the ship has the suberb ability to transport a small pirate army for a full scale attack on any imperial base. Quote
Capn Frank Posted October 26, 2007 Author Posted October 26, 2007 I have just ordered this set from Bricklink, It had better worth the $175 I paid for it! :'-) I think so *y* but it depends on if you're a pirate nut like me X-D ...Great review Phred, thanks for that! *y* Your welcome Cap'n for those of you with the firing cannon - how do you fire the cannon? can you show pic examples? Here's a pic of a disabled cannon 8-| In a shooting cannon, the black portion of the cannon shown above can be pulled back and fires a 1x1 round brick that's placed inside the barrel. Here's a pic of a shooting cannon: Hope that helps. P Quote

Axle Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Yes! 5/5. Finaly I will have my BSB. This Christmas :'-) . One Question. Are the sails, with all the strings and things, hard to put up? Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Not particularly, though it took me two attempts to get it right. Quote
Axle Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Well, I got the ship this morning! It's in my top 3 lego sets. I love the amount of weapons and the sails were'n't to hard to put up, so 10/10 or 5/5! *wub* *wub* Quote

Zzz Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 (edited) I will never ever forget what impact the lego pirates had on me and guys in my age.. It was the ONE topic we spoke about in the junior high school, it was something completely new for us. Castle, space and city - that was lego so far. And now there was a complete new world to explore.. New figures, new parts, canons, animals... and on top of this world was... the BSB. *wub* *wub* I will never forget getting it, building it, playing days and weeks and months and years with it... All the minifigs on board had a specific sleeping area and I just played with the characters a lot! Also letting the soldiers from my wonderful Eldorado Fortress enter the ship at night... boy... This gets a 6 of 5 from me. One of the uber-perfect sets. Thanks a lot for the review... so good memories..!!! *sweet* Edited December 26, 2007 by Zzz Quote
