Widdi Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 This is my latest CAD-Build. It is a victorian styled haunted mansion, wich was abandoned for many years now. I've made full instructions, like I do with all my CAD-MOCs, but these aren't rendered, too, due problems with POVRay. This is it in all it's morbid glory *skull* . it's build upon the Paradisa/Alpha Team 3d-Baseplate. The building stands slightly raised over the ground and features 3 floors and stands on an abandoned estate in a run-down area. The building is very run-down, too but has an open backside for playability and so far an interior. The interior is different in each floor: The ground floor is furnished with a strangely still glowing oven and a desolate dining room furniture including a skeleton lying right on the table. The 1st floor has a big, but damaged canopy bed, with a skellie just lying on it. The third floor has no furniture, but a witch, who waits at the window looking for guests to scare. I didn't include a classig LEGO ghost, since I don't have a ghost cape in my program, but a headless ghost stands on the roof, which is a fine replacement for the classic ghost. The garden has two dead trees and a pit with another skeleton inside. I included a gate with a fence, too. now to the Technical notes: While having an open backside, this house still counts 521 parts (peeron), due to the detailed facade. It was an medium difficult build for me, since I didn't use SNOT, but had some rough building parts, due to some window shapes. If this would be an official set, it would be selling for 50€ to 60€. As with most of my MOCs, I'm stuck to classic 80s-to 90s style, with open backsides in the buildings. mFg Widdi PS: The complete instructions are in This brickshelf folder Quote
Athos Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Interesting creation. I wish Lego would make a haunted house set. I like the fence and gate, as well as the very nice use of that screwy baseplate. I'm not real fond of LCAD creations though and would much rather see a real-life photo. Steve Quote
simonwillems Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 I saw this on brickshelf some time ago and was contemplating posting it in this forum, because I really like the design of the house with the typical roof and the great facade. Only thing that kept me from posting was the fact that it was (still is) in MLcad and I prefer, like Athos, a brickbuilt creation. Still, the design looks great and I can't wait to see your brickbuilt version! :-) Quote
MatthewUSA Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Widdi, this is definitly a very cool MOC too. I could see this model becoming a Creator set. I would definitly buy it if it was. Very awesome and I give you two *y* up on this MOC too. Model on. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 1, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 1, 2007 You did a good job integrating the house with this baseplate. In which official set was this baseplate used? Anyway, nice creation and lots of details in the facade of the house. Do you have plans to build this MOC with real bricks? Quote
Athos Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 In which official set was this baseplate used? The one I know it from is: Sphinx Secret Surprise. I also think it came with some Belville sets. Steve Quote
Wout Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 You did a good job integrating the house with this baseplate. In which official set was this baseplate used? 1992 Paradisa House 1998 Sphinx Secret surprise (see up) 2001 Alpha team; Ogels Base as far as I know Quote
simonwillems Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 This baseplate came with a number of sets, including Alpha Team, Paradisa, basic and Adventurers. Click and see: -Edit: You beat me to it Wout!- Quote
Norro Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 looking interesting! The haunted falcon is an unusual choice! Thanks for sharing and God Bless, Nathan Quote
Wout Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 This baseplate came with a number of sets, including Alpha Team, Paradisa, basic and Adventurers.Click and see: -Edit: You beat me to it Wout!- Doesn't matter X-D Anyway I forgot to say that this is a great building even when it was not a haunted building. A normal city version would also be very nice Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Widdi: welcome to Eurobricks. I'm very impressed with your rendering of a Victorian Haunted House. I'm very fond of haunted houses for one, and secondly, you've done an excellent job at designing one. Excellent baseplate to use. I have it from the Sphinx's Surprise and never thought of using it for a Haunted House base (being desert and all). Nice fence and gates, plus the trees remind me of something Lego would use in one of their Studio Monster sets. I like the entry to the house and the roof/fence pieces on the roof the best. The style is perfect for a haunted house. I'm a little surprised you used red though. I would think a color like lt. green would really make this look more realistic - but surprisingly, the red doesn't look bad at all. I would love to see a shot of the entire back side as well. Overall, very nice. Do you plan to actually build or do you just render? The real thing would look terrific! Quote
Asuka Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Wow. I never realized the existence of such a cool baseplate.... 8-| Your MOC is a real beauty, especially with that small tower structure on the left. Great work, neat color scheme.... and a haunted dried swimming pool. *wub* Quote
