Lok24 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) Hi all, today I want to show you my level crossing, motorized by a medium-PF-motor. The intention was to move the bars slowly an synchronously. Therefore I used strings to drive the bars. There is a short video on youtube(50 sec): Here are some pictures of the house and the shed And here some pictures showing the technical details: on the left the gear, in the middle the cables and on the right the two bars the sliding bed, turnig the two liftarms allos you to adjust the cables the gear with the clutch mounting cables under the street and the rails and the two bars Hope you enjoyed this little project.... cu Werner Edited February 2, 2014 by Lok24 Quote
mtrkustoms Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 very nice and a really good way to use PF and hide the motors in a house, i will use your idea in my next layout Quote
JopieK Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I already so it at 1000steine... But: it is very, very nice. I like your construction of wires. I will use some of your idea's in my construction too I think, I already did some experiments with (nylon) threads, but this is even better. it keeps the crossing itself very clean, that is what I like best! The speed also turnout very well. B.t.w. the contra weight is that for a point? Or were they also used for level crossings. Quote
patje Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 very nice goes smoothly up and down great job with the wires Quote
ScotNick Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Really nice creation, never would have thought to build it like it is built in real life ! The house itself looks very nice as well! Quote
Doom2099 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Very well done, it's useful and attractively built. Thanks for sharing, there's a lot of great ideas in here! Quote
zephyr1934 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Fantastic build. Looks great, works great, and a great job hiding everything too. Quote
AlmightyArjen Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Already saw the vid on YT, really nice job! I like all the details you've put into it! Quote
Man with a hat Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Reall nice. It works very smoothly and at an appropriate speed. And it is a very clean solution with that house. Quote
Werlu Ulcur Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 It looks perfect! And I loved the smoothness of the bars moving. Quote
LegoPanda Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 it looks good, it runs smooth, nice build Quote
Duq Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 That's a clever mechanism and very well executed. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Wow this is a great work! I love the mechanism, I love the architecture, I love the colors ...I love your train stuff used to complete this realistic project! Thanks for sharing your beautiful video! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I agree, excellent engineering there 'Lok24'......makes me want to design my own automated crossing too. Brick On 'Lok24' ! Quote
Lazarus Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Best I have ever seen, really keen to try and reproduce this. To base all my level crossing on my layout are the older UK type gate and not the lift arms. But it looks very good not big ugly motors showing. Very clever. Quote
Zed_43 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Really nice and detailled level crossing. I really like the design and functionnality. I've already seen on BS that type of motorization by strings under the road pulling on fences. Maybe that was yours? Quote
