Faefrost Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) Oh dear. I confess to being torn over even mentioning this one. I most certainly am not going to directly link to the story ( I really don't want to get banned). It's on Gizmodo and probably half the internet if you really want the ummm juicy details. But it's a Lego news story. Out there in the whole insane world of the internet. A big "Lego Contest". It would seem that there is a rather famous young lady, who stars in a variety of what we shall refer to as "specialty films of an adult nature". I mean real famous in that industry. In addition to her day job, it would seem that she really really likes Lego. So she is holding a contest and offering an "extra special" reward for whoever can make the best Lego Creation for her. It is a fairly safe assumption that this contest will be restricted to AFOL's only! (Dear Lord at least I hope so, otherwise little Billy will be gettin his self one hechuva edumacation) While it is actually kind of oddly reassuring to see our AFOL hobby hit the main stream. I am somehow thinking that this is not quite the sort of target marketing that Billund is really looking for. I'm thinking we may start seeing some really odd MOC's start popping up on the internet real soon. Edited January 27, 2014 by Faefrost Quote
just2good Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) I saw that news story. It sure is an interesting award... I don't think I'd accept it from her if I did win. It would be really funny and sad if this is a guerrilla marketing effort by TLG for The LEGO Movie. Edited January 27, 2014 by just2good Quote
CM4Sci Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I read the title of the thread and instantly knew what you were talking about. -Sci Quote
Faefrost Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 Is anyone else thinking that the poor folks that have to pre screen the CuuSoo projects might be having to deal with a bit more than they bargained for in the next month or two? Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Fan tastic I never would have known about this Quote
Clone OPatra Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 There's nothing wrong about linking to a Gizmodo article if you're going to bring it up in the first place. Gizmodo is just a news/opinion outlet, not a porn site. As I haven't seen this, I'm not exactly sure what I should be Googling to find out what you're talking about (though I can probably dig it up anyway since it's recent). Quote

Deathleech Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) I wonder what her favorite theme is and what the contest guidelines are. It all seems very non-descript lol Edited January 27, 2014 by Deathleech Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 All the poor female AFOLs that are going to miss out on this. I'm not sure what to make of this really. Quote
Minoton Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Two friends of mine tell me today about that contest!!!!!!, is funny, the prices is interesting (if you are single of course....), but is in her house, im living in spain so the price doesn´t cost the travel price XD XD XD XD. the only good thing of this, is some people stop looking afols like "peter pan guys" playing with minifigs etc etc...the bad thing is some of them look as some kind of perberts XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD Anyway, a little offtopic, and hope no child is reading this...i see a few porn/erotic/adult mocs and creations ( some of them very funny!!!!) and i make 2 just for fun, but i wonder if they are any place (not only flickr or similar) to put "adult" mocs, i belive this forum can´t be the place (none of mine are explicit...well, lego mocs can hardly be explicit XD) but is a fun theme to make mocs, but hard to share....anyone knows a forum, page, anything for "adult kind" mocs??? dr_spock Posted Today, 08:36 AM Power Functions, perhaps? that´s joke makes me rofl XD XD XD XD Quote
Cult_Of_Skaro Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Well, you've got to give her points for originality... Quote
LEGO Historian Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) Since she's in a service industry job... does she accept tips? Also, how exactly does one pronounce Gizmodo? Edited January 27, 2014 by LEGO Historian Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Well, uh, certainly a change from are usual news. As mentioned, guys at Cuusso must be really panicking, the stuff that'll end up on the internet... the Summer 2014 confidential pictures will be the least of there worries. Well, best of luck for those who want to enter this, just make sure your insurance is up to date. Quote

Heppeng Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 One for the hardcore lego fan? Well I thought hard about what sort of lego model would be worthy of such a prize and came up with this: Quote
eurotrash Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Power Functions, perhaps? Now that made me laugh, but how about maybe a set from the new Lego Friends (with Benefits) range... Quote
Sandy Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 With this piece of news, I'm torn between "people can do whatever they want with their bodies" and "women's place in this society is seriously effed up". Yup, great use of the white snake piece... I'll never look at that piece the same way again. Quote

escortmad79 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 How have Lego's lawyers not jumped all over this yet? Quote
Ardelon Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 With this piece of news, I'm torn between "people can do whatever they want with their bodies" and "women's place in this society is seriously effed up". Im going with the first option. Controversy is good. (So long as no one is getting hurt.) Weird - yes; disturbing - not really. I too am interested how TLG will react, if at all. The one negative consequence I can think of is parents linking LEGO with porn and not buying it for their kids. I find it hard to believe people would think this way, but then, there was the whole Jabbas palace incident... Quote
Floundie Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 AHAHAHA OH MAN This is going to be one helluva week Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Ok... That's... That's slightly disturbing. Quote
