Dear Eurobrickers,

I would like to present the most recent Legoland-scaled car I made: a Checker Taxi.

It's made in twelve wide, with the rear extending to thirteen and I used pictures of the real cars to model it after.

The front grill was one of the harder parts to do because it is one of the most typical things about those taxis in the USA. I think that part turned out quite nice.

I am not so sure however, about the overall length-proportions of this vehicle and the amount of space behind the backwheels, it doesn't look exactly right but I don't know where the problem lies.

What do you think?

Beautiful! :'-)

You captured the overall shape of this classic really well and those details are awesome! I especially like that distance counter thingy in the inside (no idea what it's called)!

But I don't like the "LEGO" writing on the door, I guess it's meant as some sort of advertisement, right? If so, I would replace the bley brick with a yellow or red brick with LEGO printing, the bley looks somehow out of place...

Other than this: Great work! :-)

This is beautiful Simon! *wub*

When I look at these pictures from a distance, it looks like this is not Lego because it looks too real.

Nice how you used the black/white bricks to create the lines on the side.

It does look a little short/squashed for an American style vehicle. Though it appears to have proper proportions for a European car.

I think it looks great.

Thanks for all the nice and kind words, it's making me blush behind my computerscreen... :-$

I like the idea of putting red lego-print bricks instead of the dark grey ones, I must have them somewhere in red... Got to find out where I put them...

I knew something was not completely right with that backside, so I made it longer, but maybe your right, Asuka, and shortening it will be the solution. I'll go and try that when I get back to my Lego.

I had some hard times trying to make those Legoland style figures (I think I'm better of making their vehicles) and the only fig I ultimately came up with was this chap.

I see you are a more succesful "creator of men" X-D

Ooooh, I never thought of doing a cop. That badge is just screaming for a miniland figure.

I like this cab, like all of yours cars. Ever tried 1967 Ford Shelby Mustang? I did and it didn't work out.

Thank you! I did try the Ford Mustang: after a lot of work an effort it looked like a reasonable car, just not a Mustang.... It's the headlights and especially the taillights that ll'do the trick but they are tough to make.
