Arigomi Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 http://www.knex.com/products/family-guy/ The minifigures look like they are getting ready to strangle me. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Yeah those are pretty terrifying. From what I've heard the sets themselves are absolutely garbage too. Quote
Lance Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 The sets apparently don't hold together at all, especially Stewie's Time Machine. The figure's heads can fit on LEGO minifigure bodies though. Quote

jodawill Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Wow. This is hilarious. I've never seen any building toys that look so bad. Seriously, what were they thinking? Just look at those things. Forget about the quality for a moment. There are TONS of bad quality knockoffs that look superb. You could just walk into any Dollar General and find stuff that looks at least as awesome as 1980s Lego sets. These are so bad it doesn't even matter whether the quality is good or bad. They're just horrendous. I bet TLG's designers are laughing about this even now. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 The really sad part is that knex used to be awesome. The old system they had that wasn't like Lego at all allowed you to build roller coasters, Ferris wheels, and the like. Too bad they changed their ways to compete with Lego Quote
jimmynick Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Yeah, I have a bunch of K'NEX from way back, and it was such fun to play with. I remember there was a lunar rover set, cost about $20. That was great fun to build and play with. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Just looked at the K'NEX site, and apparently they still do the old type of sets...and they own Lincoln Logs...and the KISS license?! Quote
Lego Spy Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) K'nex...What? Wow, I love Lego Simpsons now. The really sad part is that knex used to be awesome. The old system they had that wasn't like Lego at all allowed you to build roller coasters, Ferris wheels, and the like. Too bad they changed their ways to compete with Lego Exactly, I remember having a few of those and liking them. Now apparently it's just Kiss... The Beatles Yellow Submarine (I wonder how well that sells. ), and now this. The only thing I wish Lego had got the rights to would have been Super Mario Bros., since they probably would have executed it properly. Edited January 20, 2014 by Lego Spy Quote
Junpei Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I think this decline in K'NEX happened only 4 years ago or so. I remember playing with K'NEX as a kid, and it was awesome. Not sh*tty rip-off LEGO bricks. Although the Yellow Submarine figures aren't half bad. Is there even a market for Family Guy K'NEX sets? TLH Quote

The big sellers for K'Nex is the Super Mario theme like you stated, but don't forget the Grumpy Sparrows theme. Those sell like hotcakes. Quote

LEGO Guy Bri Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Those figures are really unfortunate. I much rather would have seen these in a LEGO set, even over the Simpsons. However, being of Family Guy's nature, among other reasons, I highly doubt TLG would have ever considered that license. Then again, I'm stating the obvious Quote
Lego Spy Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) I find it amusing how the box says "America's Building Toy". ...but don't forget the Grumpy Sparrows theme. Those sell like hotcakes. Huh, I didn't think Grumpy Sparrows would be that popular. Edited January 21, 2014 by Lego Spy Quote
Hrafnblod Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) From those videos it looks like the absolute worst days of Megabloks. Also, how little respect do they have for themselves that they use paper in place of bricks? Edited January 21, 2014 by Hrafnblod Quote
Junpei Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) I'm assuming it's a much bigger market than K'NEX Kiss. Funny that 'Murica's building toy has turned into this abomination, I used to like K'NEX.... About the paper- K'NEX has actually used paper and cardboard frequently with actual K'NEX building sets. But with bricks? Hell no. TLH Edited January 21, 2014 by TwentyLeggedHen Quote

But these have paper printed with brick studs. That's just awful. Quote

CptPJs Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I don't understand how there was such uproar about "Simpsons isn't a kids' show they talk about s-e-x! And alcohol!" but in the same country there's a Family Guy toy being released targeted at "8+". Surely FG is more adult than Simpsons?! Quote

Nobody really care about K'Nex nowadays. Quote

Oh, totally FG is more adult......I learnt the hard way when my son begged me to buy him Something Something Dark Side........no beeps, my jaw dropped - my son was only 11 at the time. There's the problem with this theme, Knex is a childs toy like Lego......true the Simpsons may not be a wholesome family show, but at least you are not hearing f-bombs during the show. Fine for us adults, but for children.....eh, no. Like I wrote above......Epic Fail ! Edited January 22, 2014 by lightningtiger Quote
Galaxy Explorer Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I must agree these do not look good at all! K'NEX was a great "I want to build something other than LEGO" toy. When I worked at TRU, I was always enthusiastic about showing the guests all the new sets. Now they seem to have become a Knock-Off brand, which is really too bad. Can't say that I'd be too keen on trying to sell any of these. I kind of had Seth McFarland pegged as a LEGO fan, too. Not that I think LEGO would ever do a Family Guy theme- waaay too mature for their audience. Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Wow... I thought megablocks was bad Quote
korpen4444 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Goodness those figures make Kreo figures look good ! Two words.......Epic Fail ! I agree. Epic fail! Though I do like the Kreons. I have a few! But really, what possessed K'Nex to make this? Quote
