SweetiePie88 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 To put a semi-long story short, I got the wrong lego set as a gift from mom, Galaxy squad Swarm interceptor and not creator thunder wings, and I'm debating on returning the set as long as I am able to get a full refund. problem is that I am riddled w/ feelings of guilt even though I shouldn't be. as epic as the set looks, I know from past buys of similar AC type sets that it'll wind up assembled once, if at all, and most likely stored until it's taking apart and sorted out to make room for more sets. I am trying to make better buying choices and gift requests and i really think that getting TW(either in store or getting it from the lego site in the near future) and returning GSSI would be the best option. Has anyone else ever found themselves in my shoes? Any idea how to shake the "guilty" feeling or is it just a matter of waiting for the feeling to leave? Quote
naf Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I'm sure your mom would want you to enjoy whatever gift she gave you, so if you'd rather have a different set she will probably understand. It's not like you're going to return it to get money for beer or gas, you're still getting a Lego set from her either way. If you do decide to keep Swarm Interceptor, it's a pretty cool set. I built it with my stepson and we love it. The Galaxy Squad sets have grown on me over the last year. Quote
Paul B Technic Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Did you ask her for it and she got the wrong one or did she pick it herself? Quote
Sir_Basil_Ashton Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 If you asked for a specific set and you received the wrong set by accident then you shouldn't feel guilty. We all know LEGO is pretty pricey so you should have sets you want. Quote
Off the wall Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Nothing to feel guilty about. It's the same as if she had bought you a sweater that was a color you didn't care for. She wants you to be happy, that's why she bought you Lego. And, like someone else said, Lego is too expensive to keep a set you don't really need. Besides, to many people, Lego is Lego, and she might not even be able to tell the difference. :-) Quote
Blast Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I would just keep the set because you know a lot of us don't even get Lego sets as a present anymore. Quote
Amset-Rah Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I have a similar dilemma. I received the Mines of Moria as a Christmas gift, only to find no minifigures were present, only the skeletons. I debated returning it as it has useful pieces and the model is beautiful, and I did try getting replacement parts from Lego only to be told they don't make the parts anymore, so they're useless, and the only choice I have is to buy the figures in the aftermarket, which I shouldn't have to do. I'd return mine for store credit, but since it's opened and built, I can't get a refund and if I did want money back, I'd have to turn to eBay or Bricklink. I personally like Galaxy Squad, so if I were you I'd keep it. Swarm Interceptor is a beautiful model. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Last Christmas, I got the Spiderman Daily Bugle set and was debating whether or not to return it. I prefer getting soon-to-be retired sets instead of new ones because I know I have more time to collect new ones, but I kept it as I didn't want to be rude. But the set is great though, it did hold me off from putting the epic dragon battle on lay-away. Quote
