ScotNick Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Hey there, Some people at the Train Tech forum probably know me, I have designed a bunch of trains in LDD, so here are some of my brickbuilt Lego creations. I don't own much Lego (compared to some guys here), but when I have something I want it look very well, which means that there aren't many creations of mine here. I don't even have a town, or a single house, but I plan to build houses in the future. So here is the first one: I had an American 50s car in vision, but also saw some creations on flickr (and EB as well, I think) that look similar and I would like to give credit for, but I can't remember were exactly I found it. Side view: Front view: Top view: And the car has also springs: The second car is a truck, based on the car of the Winter Village Cottage, but widened by two studs: Thanks for watching! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Great looking vehicles ScotNick! I really like the red, Caddy looking car. The truck is neat too, I love older vehicles, but think it should have one less axle with such a short wheelbase. Keep up the great work Quote
Only Sinner Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I love these vehicles, thanks for sharing! Quote
LEGO Family Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 The truck is looking awesome. The shape and colors really is my kind of style. Great job. :) Quote
ER0L Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I like both of them, I must say. Now, since the first one seems to be based on the Impala design scheme, some words on this one. I like the idea of turning the design into something more lively, the Impala (which is meant to be a car of the Sixties, of course, not of the Fifties like your version) has quite a sober design: Plus it's nice to have doors and to fit in four people - that's one more than the Impala. On the other hand, two aspects could be optimized in my opinion: The front bumper doesn't fit its purpose like this, it's much too far recessed. And then there's an issue with the height of the windscreen. Under no circumstances a windscreen on a car of that time can be that tall. We all know that there is no suitable part for that, so we must think of something else. Setting it down like on the Impala will not work here because of the doors, but maybe something like this helps: That's quite exactly a 6w low windscreen which might look a bit strange like this, but not any more when built in and slanted. Last, not least: You might want to change the tires - they definitely don't work on a car like this. Anyhow, great job on this, looking forward to further stylish vehicles from you! Quote
ScotNick Posted May 10, 2014 Author Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) Has been a long time, but I have rebuilt the truck and built some other cars. The American car is currently disassembled, so no update on that one, As some of you have pointed out the Truck was to short so here is the new version: I also modified a City car, I think they should use these wheels more often in the newer sets! And last an American school bus (I just built it because I had the parts, not an exact replica): That's all for now! Edited May 10, 2014 by ScotNick Quote
Lady K Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Nice collection of vehicles. Your truck was neat but I really like the newer designed truck. It definitely has that antique feel to it. Quote
3BrickFriends Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 They look great. My favourite is the school bus. Quote
Luke Styer Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I love that school bus. If I can make one minor suggestion, it might "liven it up" a bit if you added a stripe of black down the side. The first "full height" row from the bottom might be an easy place to add it. Quote
