...He indicates to the newer heroes. "You're welcome to borrow anything I'm not using, including weapons and artefacts..."

Purpearl turns to Haldor, "Can I borrow your Heavy Metal Rod and Gladiator's Helmet if that is ok?"

She nods at Haldor, "Thanks."

Purpearl unequips Crimson Arcanon, High Heels and equips Heavy Metal Rod, Gladiator's Helmet.

"Hewyrt, you're with me. Where is Gocklo?"

(See previous battle with Hewyrt's help. Surely that bit of roleplay & dialogue merit the presence of Hewyrt with Hoke's party. :) )

"I think I'll be of best service in the very center of the bridge."

"I'm here. Nerwen, I'm at your side, hehehe. Seems you need it most."

Nerwen checks her horse (stats Zeph?) and her Seal of the Warrior Priestess (don't forget to roll. Did praying over it make a difference?) and moves to the west border of the bridge. Seraphael flickered in and out of visibility, the angel's light causing a halo around Nerwen's pale hair.

Thus far you have come. But no further. Turn back and live free.

Nerwen's Horse: 3/3

User is Perma-Hastened

The horse has a 50% chance to draw damage to itself instead of Nerwen

Praying over the amulet has no effect. Apparently it functions the way it functions.

OoC: I'm sorry, I appreciate the effort, but I don't like morphing the effects of an artifact!

I am glad you are here little one. This battle makes nearly ever other I have been in seem tame.

Thanks Zeph. Just wanted to collect the whole set of positive buffs. Who lines, maybe I'll get some luck after last battle's shocking rolls.

Hoke moves up to Nerwen's position and applies Deadly Venom to the Flagpole.

"Hewyrt, see if you can wish Lady Nerwen some Luck for this battle."

How/when do the Kingdoms/Orcs move? If Hoke moves up to the far side, does that take up 2 turns? Can he move to the middle ground and still attack the orcs?

"It seems we are wide open on the west. I will fight on the WEST BORDER with Nerwen. I'm not an ally of the Kingdoms, but our goal here is to protect the bridge and all of our lives. To do that, we must repell both armies."

Cinna consumes a smelling salts and mead.

(QMs, my defense should be 16 not 13)

"Okay, I have never understood tactics beyond hit things hard with stuff they are weak to. Where do yah want me? Just think of me as a big angry club that carries swords and can hit things with them."

"Stand with us defending against the Orcs. We have worked together as a team this whole time and shouldn't separate now."

Alexandre takes an Ambrosia and joins Hoke Ablesword's position. "Let's work together here."

"Agreed!"

Baradock slings his club over his shoulder, tightening the bind on his hand-wraps as he paced to the WEST BORDER. His face grim. Mirona followed shortly after.

"My goal is not ''protect the bridge''. This bridge is foolish thing made by an idiot. If it breaks, so be it."

"Really? You aren't one to look past your nose. If the bridge breaks and we are on it, all of us are dead. Including you."

Nerwen raised her voice, heard by all on the bridge.

New rules. Our one and only goal is to defend this bridge as best we can. From both sides.

Our current party leader does not care about this goal. I will take over as party leader.

If he wants to argue about it he can come over here and try it.

"Glad I'm not the only one who actually seems to care more about preventing this cataclysm than just saving their skin. Times like this, I can really appreciate the calm thinking of an elf. Suggestion for you, perhaps you ought to decide a subordinate to manage each flank closely whilst you're taking care of the bigger picture?"

What I'm suggesting is this: it would be easier for a deputy leader on each side of the battle to choose actions for inactive heroes as they will likely be following the events of that particular skirmish more closely.

He nodded to Nerwen respectfully and began checking all of his equipment. Haldor reached a hand inside his shirt and felt for an old charm that he'd been hanging onto for half of his life. The more time passed, he feared for his life less and less, but his will to succeed flared only greater.

Guts sniffs. "Don't be a fool. This bridge is a tool of war, it will always be that after the events of the last few days."

"So what do we do now, eh? There's no way off this bridge without a fight, and if we go along with you and let the armies clash: well, we might as well hurl ourselves into the river and drown. You signed up for this quest as much as any of us, so if you'd rather run than do your job, you're welcome to leave headfirst into the rapids. I care about what happens to these people, I'm not about to give up now."

"You care enough to wipe out the strongest people of a broken land, the husbands, the sons. We stop the High Kingdoms, after that, all bets are off."

Posted

If that's your thinking, boss, why fight at all? It would be better then to just sit back and watch the armies destroy the bridge themselves.

No, Nerwen is right. As much as I hate to change leadership this late in the game, the bridge should be our priority. Everything in the area depends on it.

"If we let the orcs win, they're gonna club every human they can reach. The kingdoms will burn, every man will die. Fighting off both sides is the lesser of two evils, and it's the option we have to take."

"Glad you all are starting to see what I have been saying this whole time. If only I was as eloquent as Lady Nerwen."

Hoke looks at both of the advancing armies.

"Let's be about this quickly. Choose a side to defend, and let us stand strong."

Hoke dips the Flagpole in Deadly Venom and empties the contents of a small jar of Venom onto the Flagpole.

Stacks for 11 poison damage, correct? If no, just apply the Deadly Poison.
