Waterbrick Down Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 Cinna's power begins to pulse through the opal as a bridge of ice begins to form across the gap. Finally the task is complete though Cinna stands exhausted leaning on Mauyrl for support. A path leads across to the other side of the river just barely wide enough for Nagure to traverse, however it is obvious that the bridge will require widening if the wagon is to come across. Glup gives a low whistle. "Now that's some impressive wizarding!" Purpearljellyblob Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) "Alright, let's do this." Cinna turns to Purpearl, taking out her own opal and aiming at the narrowest part of the river to try an create a bridge of ice. "I think we must do this at the same time for the most power." Cinna casts an ice spell at the area of river to try and form an ice bridge. OOC: I am not sure what I am going to do will work as Purpearl does not have an Opal. "Let's do this!" Purpearl does a double sidestep and positions herself beside Cinna. She lands her hand on top of the Opal Cinna is holding and aims her wand in the direction of Cinna's ice spell. Purpearl begins to shiver and her teeth begins to chatter as she channels the energy from the Opal to her wand. Tiny ice crystals start to form at the tip of the wand as Purpearl casts an ice spell at the existing ice bridge to try and widen it. Edited February 2, 2014 by Purpearljellyblob
Waterbrick Down Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 Pupearl attempts to assist Cinna, but the opal remains only responsive to one user. "Can't say I've ever seen a conjoining spell like that, but at least it was worth a try."
Purpearljellyblob Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) Purpearl's ice spell dissipated into nothingness midway through the air. "Bummer." Turning towards Cinna, "Can I borrow your Opal to widen that ice bridge?" Edited February 2, 2014 by Purpearljellyblob

Purpearljellyblob Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 "We could probably worry about getting the wagon over after the battle is finished don't you think?" "But we are not sure how long this ice bridge will last out in the open, or will the Harpies' poop destroy it, making it difficult for us to retrieve our wagon after the battle. Leaving the wagon on the other side of the river unattended will also leave us open to possible raids from Nords and attacks from patrols."
Darkdragon Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Cinna hands the opal to Purpearl. "Another idea is to cover the bridge with dirt after we finish building it, using an earth spell. Boris, could you help with that? You can borrow my Garnet for it."
Waterbrick Down Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 "Probably, but then wouldn't we be left with a bridge of sinking mud?"
Purpearljellyblob Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Purpearl casts an ice spell at the existing ice bridge to try and widen it.

Darkdragon Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 "You look as tired as I feel, Purpearl. If you have something to restore magic now is a good time. Alright everyone, let's go!" Cinna consumes an Ether Core and starts across the bridge.
StickFig Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Matthias happily puts the bolt into his crossbow, downs a potion, and follows Cinna across the ice bridge.
Purpearljellyblob Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 The inexperienced mage starts to feel the chill as the after effects of the ice spell begins to set into her bones. Feeling exhausted at the same time, her hands start to become numb. She rubs her hands and tries to blow warm air into her palms to warm them up. Deep down, she wishes she could curl up under the warmth of the blankets, just to warm up for a few minutes. Purpearl downs a Tonic and also has High Heels equipped. "Wait up!" and she follows the rest of the party across the ice bridge.

Waterbrick Down Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 QM Note: Nagure (Costy) has been absent for over a week giving no notice. At this point in time, I'm going to drop him from the party, should he return with a reason for his absence he might join back in. The party prepares to head out and discover that Nagure had gone missing in the interim fight with Mint. "We must move on, hopefully the big fellow is alright and can catch up with us later." As the group moves on they notice a stark contrast between Baltarok and the High Kingdoms. A desolation seems to hang over the land, rocky outcroppings and scraggly trees dot the landscape and no sign of civilization can be seen in any direction. The road, little more than a set of ruts in the ground, is hard with the late winter cold and patches of snow litter ground. After a good bit of traveling the party sees the outline of a city on the horizon. "Vim Lhzar, oldest city in all of Baltarok they say. Razed to the ground during the Orcish Wars, it's the capitol of one of the four remaining Orc clans, Clan Irlaz." The circus cart soon makes it to the gates. A barricade stretches across the main entrance. "So.....you still.....refuse us en....trance, even..... after all.....that? There....is still....no....reason.....for this....fool.....ish....ness." "Arrrr." "Of course it is, less you're willing to contribute. Ah look what's just rolled up!" The Orc turned to the party, "Even more foreigners. StickFig Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) Matthias, alone in a world of silent confusion for days as the party travelled Baltarok and the High Kingdoms, makes no move to answer. His concussion, the fight with Baradock, and Nagure's disappearance have all but flattened his initial joy at acceptance into the Hall of Heroica, even after his party's initial successes. Having avoided actually attacking Baradock during the battle, the gnome now avoids even speaking to any of his fellow heroes. The days have passed without his deep, tiny voice and the others seem no more eager to discuss or share their feelings with the inexperienced ranger than he does. The stubble of a beard slowly growing on his face - carefully groomed until the battle of the ice bridge - now looks ragged and unkempt, giving him the appearance of a wild dwarven child instead of a smiling gnomish hero. Before stealing a glance at Grishnod, wondering which clan he might be from... OOC: Vash, thinking you might know something that might possibly get us through. "What's it to you? And what sort of rescue party, surely you aren't from Irlaz, you'd had to have made it over the river." The orc paused, "You'd best be careful, guard checks in here every hour or so, he should be back soon." The circus cart soon makes it to the gates. A barricade stretches across the main entrance. "Your kind are always here to take our jobs, otherwise we wouldn't be protesting. I don't care who your guest is, he isn't getting through. Unless... perhaps a contribution, say 100..." At this point Grishnod stands upright in the wagon. "I am no guest. Let us pass and I will see to it that we have no more issues with humans or any other foreigners in our great city." "Yoinks, looks like the chief's back!" "Grishnod, you've... you've... returned! Were you not taken captive not 6 months ago?" "I have indeed returned and for the time being that is all that concerns you. Now let us pass." "At once." The orcs quickly move aside the barricade letting the party pass. As they roll across the cobblestone street, the sounds of shouting and rioting soon grace their ears. Ahead in the main square the heroes come across quite the scene. An angry mob seems to be rioting just outside the entrance to the palace and watching from a close distance is another group of heroes.

Her wine goblet slips from her hand. Garhon blinks, looking between Bastala and Grishnod. "....I...father? What're you doing here? How are you-..." She glances sideways at Cinna's party for a moment, then turns her eyes onto Grishnod again. ".....I'm...it's good to have you back, father, but......my policies are none of your business. I'm the leader of this clan, and I'll handle this situation." Her voice seems to have hardened somewhat as she turns to the heroes. "You have my sincerest thanks for returning my father to me....however, this is a trade that's just too costly for Clan Irlaz. You're not getting Valentino. Father....you're welcome to stay, but I'm the one in charge of things around here from now on. Your time has passed." Grishnod pauses while the news of the attack on Imaestym is shared. "Enough of this foolishness child, I have returned and with that your brief stint of power, however successful in your own eyes, is at a close. You know nothing of leading a clan, your choice of courtiers is evidence of that enough, not to mention the riot. I can't even begin to imagine what other dreadful policies you have enacted in my absence. It's a wonder this city is even still standing." Edited March 24, 2014 by Waterbrick Down
