lightningtiger Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 I'm still waiting on a stack of parts for my mega Shell, etc., complex so I decided to start on a new menswear store to replace my old Lowes and Mensland store designs from a few years back. Just a tease shot first....look closely at the detail and see what you can see ? I of course still have the side walls and racks for jackets and pants among other merchandise.......keep watching ! Only Sinner Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 I just love that modern cash register and the shirts behind the counter. You used such simple techniques, but have gotten a very realistic effect. Is the revolving display for some hankerchiefs or something? Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 Jocks.....underpants, hipster briefs for men. Thanks for the positive vibes 'Only Sinner'......I have to design the pants and jacket racks next......this might go in my humble Aussie town.....still thinking about that, anyway keep watching ! timmyc1983 Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 That's a really nice start! I'm really digging the interior, especially the inverted windscreen for the counter! And I like the rounded windows out the front too.. Great start and happy building Quote
Junpei Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Looks awesome, I love the brick wall, it contrasts very nicely with the modern interior. And great use of the inverted windscreen piece. Quote
LEGO Family Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Great so far. My fire brigade might need some new jackets since they are all some 25-30 years old. I will definately make them order from your shop. :D Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 Thanks 'timmy', 'TwentyLeggedHen' and 'LEGO Family' for your positive comments, now some workwear eh ? ......Hmm, maybe.....though I have last night designed the pants rack...only the jacket one to go. The roof and front top section needs to be designed yet as well. This store might be forming a new row of shops all based around 16x16 plates and any stickering with Lego-fied or minifig-fied. Note the jocks on the small stand features a minifig wearing jocks......in real life it looks like this..... Keep watching ! Quote
Wedge09 Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Interesting, I like the table, I will keep following Quote
LEGO Family Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 I had one of my firemen coming out his closeth reading this. He is really quite sure that these are the minifig version. Please tell me if this is considering spamming your post and i will offcourse remove the image. :D Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 Only thing I'll that is......... Anyway, today will see the walls and racks get started......though I will add that this will become a row of shops and maybe offices......call it Lego-madness - keep watching ! Quote
LEGO Family Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 (edited) I dont know that guy. But he looks like an scary old version of the stockbroker from How i met your mother. If he called the Skyline buffet for a table of four im not sure if the staff would have enough confidence to tell him yes indeed. He looks way more terrifieng than even Gordon ramsey. :P Let me cook it down. Who is he ? ... lol :D Edited November 30, 2013 by LEGO Family Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 30, 2013 Author Posted November 30, 2013 Now you have never watched 'Are You Being Served ?'........that image is of Mr Humphries....the kind of well yeah kind of guy ! Update time too....... More to come......oh, yeah any suggestions feel free to post them......keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 30, 2013 Author Posted November 30, 2013 (edited) I've done a little more work on this project during the afternoon....... Much more to come so keep watching ! Edit - Now this...... Signs and of course more interior work to come.......I've been bitten by the rebuild recreate bug ......keep watching ! Edited November 30, 2013 by lightningtiger Quote
Milan Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Hey, lightintiger, you are still rocking! I I haven't been in Town forum for a long time, and i remember this stile from your works from before :) Keep up, man! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 30, 2013 Author Posted November 30, 2013 Hey, lightintiger, you are still rocking! I I haven't been in Town forum for a long time, and i remember this stile from your works from before :) Keep up, man! Thanks 'Milian', always great to hear from you. I'm currently tossing up doing a half ceiling/roof combo or full......all the shops in my new row will have high signage so the roof tops would normally not be seen.....also half ones cost less money ! Today I hope to finish the interior and work on the signage to go on the front......it will be another LOWES menswear store......keep watching everyone ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 More to still come even after this...... Keep watching ! Quote
LAKAbricks Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 (edited) It seems to be an elegant interior, "LT". What about a mirror, so the customers can see how they look wearing their new clothes? Keep on the good job inspiring other MOC'ers to make interior ;) /Laka Edit: Just removing the double text the mobile version of Eurobricks created in this post... Second edit: Just now I saw the shirts under the desk. Quite cool One thing, LT, I think your desks are getting a bit too high for the minifigs. I know it's hard to make a good-looking, detailed furniture without making it a little too big. But those poor minifigs will get their arms hurt... Edited December 1, 2013 by laka Quote
LEGO Family Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 This is getting really awesome. Im totally jelous of your sticker work. I so need to up my skills with picture editing tools. :D And now, i will need to se a few episodes of are you being served. I have heard the name of the series, but i have never watched i think. Great work as always. Ill keep watching ! ;) Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 (edited) Thanks 'LEGO Family' and 'laka' for your positive feedback. Now the counter height issue, old stores generally had higher counters.......staff would either be sitting on a stool or more likely on an elevated platform behind the counter. It's the overall effect I'm aiming for.....next will be a manchester display plus some hats to go up top. Typically say 60 years ago in country towns you would find menswear stores that also sold manchester and luggage......then ladieswear stores sold fabric, haberdashery, millinery supplies (ladies made their own hats) as well as manchester. I like giving history lessons with my MOC's........keep watching - more tomorrow ! Edit - I'm currently working on new post office and hardware store designs......plans will later include a new supermarket and bank......the pub might have to get bigger too. (I call it Brick-madness ) Edited December 1, 2013 by lightningtiger Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 Looks interesting so far. Oh, you ain't seen nothing yet......what I have planned is my best work yet.....keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 More even still to come again....... Now we have sheet sets, boy's pants and men's hats on display now.....plus I reduced the height of the counter by one plate height.......so I was wrong about the height issue. Keep watching ! Quote
LEGO Family Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 I can se now with an employee behind the counter that it would have been an issue. Looks way better even though its just one plates hight its reduced by. I just now realised how you attached the shelfs above the rails for the jackets and pants. I like that method will come in handy for me at some time im sure. Looks great as usual. And ill keep watching. :D Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 Thanks 'LEGO Family' for your kind words. I chose the shelf mounting system so I could get as much into a 16 wide space as possible without over crowding it......normally I SNOT a plate to act as pegboard or slatwall display panels but to save just using the three parts.....hand, mod brick and neck bracket.....I had two different mounting/display systems in one.......maybe I'm a genius......but too dumb to know it ? Might start on another build to join this tomorrow......I have parts on order (yes more parts ) for the front of the new Mitre 10 hardware store......keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) I have just updated my Cuusoo page for the last menswear store design I had there, my fingers are crossed for more supports with this better design.
