Norrington Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Looks a little like a very tall Greek Tireme... Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted April 4, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted April 4, 2007 This would be an excellent pirate ship for a quiet sea like the Mediterranean sea. Very nice color scheme and I love those white hull sections. Quote
Starwars4J Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 It's a very interesting design and color scheme! I like the clean look of it, though maybe it would get dirty fast in the ocean? :-P Might I inquire about how you made the sail? Quote
Capn Frank Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Maedhros, Are you the builder of this ship or do you know who is? That's really neat little ship there. I'd add some facets to the front of the ship, and some of the tumblehome effect That's a real nice job on the sails. P Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 4, 2007 Governor Posted April 4, 2007 Ahhhhhh some international pirates! Some may debate this thread is verging on History & Adventure, however the key word "pirate" was mentioned so I won't move it. It occurred to me that I know very little about Greek Pirates so I did some Googling and came up with this: From Notorious Pirate Havens Part 1: The Ancient World Ancient Greek pirates used the Lipari Islands as their base for over 2500 years. Istria offered Illyrian pirates sanctuary until they attacked a convoy of Roman ships laden with grain in the Adriatic Sea. Rome launched two punitive strikes against the pirates that destroyed their bases in Istria. For over eight hundred years, beginning in the tenth century BC, Dorian Greek pirates operated from Crete, which was located along busy shipping lanes. Not until the second century BC, when the Rhodeans began patrolling the eastern Mediterranean with the express purpose of stamping out piracy, did Crete cease to be a pirate haven. Quote
Dukesc Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Maedhros I like the way this ship looks. It has a good looking ram and sails. I think if you were to add tumblehome to it, it may look awkward as the sides aren Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted April 5, 2007 Governor Posted April 5, 2007 How old is "The Dragon" Mr Maedhros? Or put a better way: How long ago did you built it and does it still exists - or has it since been scuttled for its parts? Quote

Or put a better way: How long ago did you built it and does it still exists - or has it since been scuttled for its parts? Well, it does exist... but it will probably be scuttled quite soon.... ...and I built it last summer so it has survived for quite some time at least :-$ Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 5, 2007 Governor Posted April 5, 2007 Are you scuttling it because you're going to buildiing another Piratey vessel with the pieces? Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted April 5, 2007 Governor Posted April 5, 2007 Well before you scuttle it could you take some more pictures of it so we can we what it looks like from different angles and close-ups? Quote
