I pulled the battery waited for more than 1 hour, put them back, pressed the reset it with a paper clip for 5 seconds, but he keeps on doing the beeps and the program does not recognize it. : (

If you connect the brick to your computer ... does the computer recognize it?

If so, go ahead, run NXT-G and do a firmware download, just ignore the sound.

The computer does not recognize it and the display is all white, and with the sound of beeps, tried anyway just download but there is no connection

When changing port on pc appeared this information:

Bossa ProgramamPort (COM7)

Ok sorry for bad English, I'm using a translator but I will relate What did happen at and what I had to do to solve the problem.

Downloaded LabView for NXT, in order to create more elaborate programs for the NXT, but it connects to the labview asked to update the firmware on nxt then left updating for over 2 hours and did not stop the beeps then canceled the update and computer stopped recognizing it. then could no longer access it either by labview or by MINDSTORMSNXTsoftware.

So to solve, I used another computer installed MINDSTORMSNXT it, called the nxt to the computer via USB, I started MINDSTORMSNXT, pressed the reset button on the NXT (below the USB conection) for 5 seconds and clicked update fimware, and ready he updated and started functioning normally: D

Hello Guys,

just registered to tanks all of you.

Today (1y and a lot after the previous post) I searched the internet for the Dead Brick Syndrome... my son flashed the firmware of a NXT and got a tick tick dead brick!

Ok, the "change the computer" is a good advise, but isn't it self a logical answer (apparently)... let's find what is the drawback.

So please read the following post: http://www.reddit.com/r/FTC/comments/1vvwq9/for_those_who_have_or_have_had_a_clicking_nxt/ to get all the logic behind this operation.

In few words (for those who don't want to follow the link and read more...):

- On your PC (the one and only) when you connect a dead NXT a device "Bossa Program Port " appear.

- Remove the Bossa Program Port drivers (disabling internet and/or win update driver search) and than reconnect your NXT.

- You should see a correct Lego NXT device and you can finally flash the firmware again...

Regards and thank thanks again!

I'm having the same problem, keeps ticking, 300€ gone :(

Hi I had the same problem, do you have the Arduino IDE installed on your PC if so this is why the NXT is seen as a Bossa port the Arduino IDE takes over the NXT drivers. I uninstalled the Arduino IDE but would still not work. I put an older hard drive in my laptop with XP on and installed the NXT software I was then able to re-flash the NXT brick using Bricx command centre.
